Apparently the septics will bid to host the 2038 World Cup as well.  Because there will be sixty four teams the cost will be too much for individual  countries to stage it, so it will again be groups of two or three. The quality of this WC is pretty rank at the group stages, with most groups having at least one or two no hopers, god knows what adding another 16 countries will improve, apart from more money to FIFA and protecting Infantino's position.

I have to say that I find the sight of FIFA officials struggling to stay awake after getting the nosebag on in hospitality, and relaxing in their comfy armchairs is pretty nauseating. Its almost like the Roman Emperors at the Colosseums. Who ever would have thought that the days of Sepp Blatter could seem modest in comparison.

Anderson to miss the Panama game with "muscle tightness". Wonder if we see Henderson

Sounds like we will be spared Henderson

Anderson has apparently been spending a bit of time with the medical profession so that niggle picking up a pen seems to have done him no harm

He needs to be in good shape for his medical with Man City.

I thought I heard on ITV this evening that yellow cards get wiped after the group stage (so doesn't matter if Rice picks up one tomorrow) and again before (or after) the quarters.

I assume that a single yellow is wiped, but if you pick up a second yellow in the final group game, you get a ban.

Horrible from the Uruguay keeper, but another goal that should have been called back for a dive in the build up.

Poor keeping by the Uruguay keeper, in what has been an even game.

Replacing Livramento with a centre back looks even more weird now.

Reece James isn't someone you can rely on to play every game
I still find it incredibly bizarre that we haven't taken Trent A-A. I honestly don't think there's another country at this World cup who wouldn't have picked him in their squad.

Hooked at HT, a brutal decision.

Not sure why they even recalled him. He's 40 years old and until this year hadn't played for them since the last world cup.

Uruguay eliminated. Cape Verde advance in 2nd place. Story of the tournament?

Following completion of Group H, only 15 out of 495 possible combinations remain. For the winners of England’s group:

    8/15 1L v 3K (DR Congo)
    6/15 1L v 3I (Senegal)
    1/15 1L v 3J (Algeria?)

Great game so far with Egypt Iran. Neither side holding back and both going for the win.
