Pathetic end to our innings. Last 3 wickets went down for 4 runs. No intent to try to bring down the deficit or smack a few to put the bowlers off their line & length.
If we bat poorly again this might not make the 5th day.0 -
A bit passive this afternoon, as if they were trying to be "mature", and not wanting the criticism if they had hit out.2

This match will reach tea on day 5golfaddick said:Pathetic end to our innings. Last 3 wickets went down for 4 runs. No intent to try to bring down the deficit or smack a few to put the bowlers off their line & length.

Are they still playing on the same pitch???0
-
Don't understand these tactics.
We have them edging balls and playing & missing. Balls sometimes rearing up & making the batsman wary.
So we bring Bashir on who then bowls nothing balls that are easily played. Gives 7 runs away in his first 4 balls.
Why. ..just why ?0 -

Definitely started to deteriorate today. Stokes & Brook got beauties that moved considerably off the seamfenaddick said:Are they still playing on the same pitch???1 -
Bashir starting to tighten up a bit, 3 runs off his last 3 overs. Stokes being tight too. Hopefully some pressure building0

Nice to see Smith up to the stumps0

But, as Sangakkara says, why is he doing so to Mitchell and not Ravindra? If the reasoning for doing so is to put more pressure on the batter and give him a different challenge, why let one batter off the hook?fenaddick said:Nice to see Smith up to the stumps3 -
And two balls into standing up with Ravindra facing, he's out LBW, albeit to Bashir
180-4 for a lead of 2642 -
What a review that is1

New Zealand probably already have enough but would be good to be chasing no more than 330 to leave a small chance.2

Strange tactics this by New Zealand. You’d expect them to get on with it now, add some quick runs and get bowling0

Ben Stokes to retire from International Cricket after this test1

Ben Stokes to retire from international cricket at the end of this game0

And takes a wicket with his very next ball0

Immediately taking a wicket is the most Ben Stokes thing imaginable2

Good for him, been thrown under the bus by Key and McCullum and was untenable going forward
When we lose this test Key and McCullum need to go as well5 -
Stunned about the Stokes news and timing.
Not that he immediately took a wicket.0 -

I hope I'm wrong as there really is nobody to replace him
Gutted really. The future of the England test team feels very bleak.1 -
I think supporters of Botham might have something to say about that.Diebythesword said:Best cricketer this country has produced.1
