Surprised Portugal didn’t turn it on more. Colombia always looked like the side to get the winner (haven’t seen the replay again but disallowed goal looked okay on first viewing).

As it stands, the likely round of 32:

    Germany v Paraguay
    France v Sweden
    South Korea v Switzerland
    Morocco v Netherlands

    Croatia v Portugal
    Spain v Austria
    USA v Bosnia
    Belgium v Czechia

    Brazil v Japan
    Ivory Coast v Norway
    Mexico v Scotland
    England v DR Congo

    Argentina v Uruguay
    Australia v Egypt
    Canada v Algeria
    Colombia v Ghana
Now everyone has played twice, and running thousands of simulations based on Betfair Exchange odds for the final group games, here are the most likely R32 fixtures:

    Germany v Paraguay (46.5% likely)
    France v Sweden (50.2%)
    South Korea v Switzerland (49.9%)
    Netherlands v Morocco (53.5%)

    Colombia v Croatia (23.2%)
    Spain v Austria (61.3%)
    USA v Bosnia (69.3%)
    Egypt v Czechia (13.4%)

    Brazil v Japan (39.7%)
    Ivory Coast v Norway (78.1%)
    Mexico v Scotland (49.8%)
    England v DR Congo (44.6%)

    Argentina v Cape Verde (55.0%)
    Australia v Belgium (36.5%)
    Canada v Algeria (17.3%)
    Portugal v Ghana (27.7%)

Teams in bold are confirmed in position as group winners.

Following the completion of Groups A, B and C:

    Germany v Paraguay (46.1%)
    France v Sweden (39.9%)
    South Africa v Canada (100%)
    Netherlands v Morocco (80.7%)

    Portugal v Croatia (23.0%)
    Spain v Austria (61.6%)
    USA v Bosnia (99.9%)
    Egypt v South Korea (50.2%)

    Brazil v Japan (61.8%)
    Ivory Coast v Norway (78.4%)
    Mexico v Scotland (23.5%)
    England v DR Congo (45.0%)

    Argentina v Cape Verde (55.6%)
    Australia v Belgium (35.6%)
    Switzerland v Algeria (42.6%)
    Colombia v Ghana (28.0%)

Teams in bold locked in position. Simulation cannot make up its mind on which ties Colombia and Portugal end up in - a true coin toss scenario.

Other than that, it looks like Scotland are the most vulnerable with Mexico having numerous possible opponents.
    Following completion of Groups D, E, F:

    Germany v Paraguay (99.6%)
    France v Sweden (80.8%)
    South Africa v Canada
    Netherlands v Morocco

    Colombia v Croatia (22.8%)

    Brazil v Japan
    Ivory Coast v Norway (81.1%)
    Mexico v Ecuador (80.6%)
    England v DR Congo (46.5%)

    Argentina v Cape Verde (51.6%)
    Australia v Belgium (54.0%)
    Switzerland v Iran (26.2%)
    Portugal v Ghana (27.5%)

Four ties in bold are confirmed so far. Teams in bold locked in position and are waiting on their opponent to be confirmed.
    Following completion of Groups G, H, I:

    Germany v Paraguay
    France v Sweden
    South Africa v Canada
    Netherlands v Morocco

    Portugal v Croatia (22.8%)
    Spain v Austria (76.1%)
    USA v Bosnia
    Belgium v Senegal (45.3%)

    Brazil v Japan
    Ivory Coast v Norway
    Mexico v Ecuador (99.9%)
    England v DR Congo (47.4%)

    Argentina v Cape Verde
    Australia v Egypt
    Switzerland v Iran (86.6%)
    Colombia v Ghana (26.6%)

Nine ties are confirmed, with a further four teams waiting to have their opponent confirmed. The last three ties (2K v 2L, 1L v 3I/J/K, 1K v 3E/I/L) have neither team confirmed yet.
Following completion of Groups K, L:

    Germany v Paraguay
    France v Sweden
    South Africa v Canada
    Netherlands v Morocco

    Portugal v Croatia
    Spain v Austria OR Algeria
    USA v Bosnia
    Belgium v Senegal

    Brazil v Japan
    Ivory Coast v Norway
    Mexico v Ecuador
    England v DR Congo

    Argentina v Cape Verde
    Australia v Egypt
    Switzerland v Algeria OR Iran

Didn't expect this would turn out to be the most entertaining World Cup I've ever seen in my life😂😂😂 Some new teams with surprising results plus all the permutations which keep changing whenever a goal is scored 😂😂😂

The end of Algeria v Austria was bonkers, especially given it looked like they were settling for a 2-2 draw.
Just checked the schedule and our game against the DRC is 5pm our time in Atlanta, which means a midday kick-off there. This does not bode well.

I did a road trip from Miami up to Georgia last summer and the heat in Atlanta was absolutely brutal - the worst of the trip. I can’t see how we will cope tbh

Watched the highlights and thought Colombia looked very good. Just need a better striker.

Superb following as well so they're going to be a tough match for anyone.

Well done South Africa, unexpected result gets them the last 32 match against Canada.
And a terrible result for Scotland. A South Korea win or draw would've meant that group was one third placed side Scotland would finish above. But Korea end up third with 3 points and a -1 GD so are above Scotland in the rankings.
There are still 4 or 5 groups where it's plausible that third place will get 1 or 2 points and finish below Scotland, but they're running out of options. South Africa finishing third and below them was a banker and that's gone thanks to SA's superb result. Clearly Brazil didn't want to be known as the team that allowed Scotland into the knockout stages.
Yes it's still possible but they need a lot of results to go their way.

There's also going to be a few games like Australia v Paraguay, Austria v Algeria, Egypt v Iran where a draw puts both sides through, so i wonder if we might end up seeing some 'tactical' draws in games.
No shock that all 3 of those ended up as draws. Iran just missed out though, which will of course please the USA.

Interestingly pre-tournament there was a lot of talk that the format would probably mean teams only needed 3 points to progress, but we ended up with only 1 side (Senegal) managing to progress from 3rd place with 3 points.

Fewest goals scored at the World cup.

    0 - Panama
1 - Curacao, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Scotland.

    Impressive stuff from the Jocks.

What's our beef with Danny Murphy? I know he played for us but he gets pelters every time he's mentioned on here. Did he leave under a cloud?
Apparently he was a flashy bighead and thought he was too good for us. So what? I donnt care what he thought or said OFF the pitch.

I remember him as one of our best players this century who always did his best for us. The beef for me of players of that era is with JFH who was a lazy arse and showed he thought he was too good for us by his attitude ON the pitch.

Just seen the highlights of that game, looked amazing!

On a side note, I watched it through the Livescore app which uses ITV. Americans should be banned from commentating on football, especially on UK broadcasts.

Best set of games last night. Some cracking end to end matches and quality goals. Hopefully that continues as we reach the knockouts.
That Jordan goal was a beaut.
If England don't make it, which looks increasingly likely, then I'd like an Argentina v France final, the two most impressive sides so far.
Would like to see Argentina win it for Messi. Their performances so far look like a procession for the GOAT.

Since Tuchel took over the best side we’ve played has probably been Senegal who tore our defence apart in a 3-1 win. I know it was a friendly but I’ve not seen enough from our defence since to suggest they can cope with a proper attacking side. DR Congo will probably be a lot tighter than a lot of people hope

    Eurgh, completely the opposite.

Anyone but Argentina again.  I'm still very suspicious that they were given the rub of the green from officials 4 years ago so Messi could win and I'm not really up for 5 more games of repetitive Messi love-ins.

Yes, he's the best ever but it's boring going on and on about him.

As long as Tuchel can find someone to spike the Congo’s supply of these, England will be fine.

Watching the highlights, the Austria Algeria game was a cracker, when everyone feared a bore draw, with both teams defending for 90 minutes. I wonder if Austria knew that their awful "fixed" 1982 draw against Germany would be brought up again if they did that.

Also very mature by Argentina and Messi to only bring him on from the bench, despite Jordan being the ideal weak opponent to boost your goal stats.

Senegal definitely have higher class players and team than Congo but as always it creating and taking the chances if the opposition have a low block.

So Democratic Republic of Congo, AKA Zaire back in the day are the last 32 opponents for England and the pressure is cranked up as jeopardy is now added to the WC menu which was missing from the Group games where South Korea could lose 2 out of 3 but still get to the KO round.

Iran were the unlucky loser with 3 draws seeing them go home after Cape Verde finished 2nd with their 3 draws.
Iraq playing with 10 men and being out of their depth meant Senegal gave them a thrashing and the talented team from Africa finally arrived in this WC.

We're in the easy side of the draw, with only Brazil and Argentina a match for us "on paper"

So expect us to bow out in the last 16 to Mexico...

It's weird how the draw has worked out, with so few European sides in England's half of the draw, just Norway, England and Switzerland.

The top half by contrast has 10 European sides out of 16.

Caveat: Also don't want Ronaldo to win.

Don't mind Portugal generally, but he'd be unbearable.
