    not just as an all-rounder, but adding his captaining and inspiration as captain maybe

    I have said commeth the hour a few times to do with him and not in the surprised in the least he did a 'Stokes' with his first ball after the crowd realised

    Different era's. Can't really compare.In Botham's day there was a rest day on the Sunday and players played a lot more county cricket and less one day stuff.

    Back to the Test........

    No idea what the NZ tactics are. Just using up overs, which also goes to show that the pitch isn't a minefield & if you get in on it then there are runs to be had.

    However, trying to chase 350+ is going to be nigh on impossible. But it will be a great watch tomorrow.

    If we are going to use the stick of playing more cricket and going straight back to playing county cricket following a Test then, on that basis alone, I'm really not sure anyone should be declared anyone as the "best cricketer this country has produced".

    Botham wasn't protected by a central contract so had to put his body through it far more than Stokes has in his career. He scored 29,873 runs and took 1,784 wickets. Stokes, to date, has 19,891 runs and has taken 679 wickets. There is no comparison.

    I'm not sure this has been good for the team. 

    The prospect of Stokes still to come tomorrow would surely have played on the Kiwi minds, whereas now there's now the danger of everything feeling a bit flat.

    I suspect he's a bit sour at what he sees as being thrown under the bus before the second Test, and being vindicated by the 'no action taken' by the regulator.

    But he was still out past a curfew he agreed, so the moral high ground is a bit shaky.
