Thanks for the memories Gassan. I still remember his fantastic back post header at The Valley from a Rob Apter cross, just a shame it was in the wrong net20

That’s good because we didn’t pay millions for him.Diebythesword said:Can’t believe we paid millions for a league two player (if that).9 -
I remember when he was so into fitness that we practically had to stop him working out and running to Sparrows Lane. Since then, he's had an almighty CAFC-style injury curse!0
-
Good luck to him, Wont ever really dig a player out just because of their contract when thats a two way thing and usually down to the club and agent.
Gave him a chance, he tried, he wasnt good enough....... thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaats football!

Yes we made a massive mistake here but, maybe he will find the sort of form for them as he demonstrated when scoring nine goals in nine game (including two against us no less) for Cambridge in League 1. That is, obviously, why they have re-signed him and I hope he finds a similar level of form because it will be easier for us to sell him, if he does, at the end of this season.YannTheMann said:
I would imagine the reason this has happened so quickly is because Cambridge are offering a fair % of his wage contributionAthletico Charlton said:Loaned because no one wants to take on his wages. What a dreadful signing.

I’m not so sure. I think we’d have set the bar pretty low to start with after his last season. Cambridge don’t have a big budget so I’d be shocked if they are paying any more than 50% max, but I’d guess it’s probably lowerYannTheMann said:

He’s got to be up there as one of our worse signings.5

My sentiments entirely. He did not join us to be crap, he just is and he will be pretty disappointed even on pretty decent money and probably with a promotion bonus.jose said:He tries hard.
Likeable fellow.
Good luck to him.
Glad he is not around kind of cluttering up the place.
Didn't he have a half decent spell at Cambridge before coming yo us. Maybe the movd will spark something and we can get a small return at the end of thecseason.1 -
Well, it's never worked out with us, so good luck to him, I hope he goes on to score some decent goals for Cambridge and stay injury free, both for his future career and, if he does, to maybe help our coffers get a transfer fee next summer.
Cheers Gasman.2 -
Not even a two way thing. It's entirely Charlton's fault that we bought him from Ipswich and gave him a 4 year deal.CL_Phantom said:Good luck to him, Wont ever really dig a player out just because of their contract when thats a two way thing and usually down to the club and agent.

It's a decent loan for him, back to a club and manager where he previously had the best form of his life. If anyone can get the best out of him, it will be Harris.6 -

Gutted.
It will be tough replacing the 30 goals he would have scored this season.3 -
well at least there some ongoing squad amending going on.0
-
I hope he does well. Not one of our greatest signings but maybe with a decent run of starts he'll start scoring.1
-
I'm hoping he bangs in lots of goals and Cambridge make the move permanent in January.
Not holding my breath mind.2 -
The best case scenario is probably that he does well (enough) this season, and that next summer joins Cambridge for a token fee, accepting a pay cut for the security of a longer contract...blackpool72 said:I'm hoping he bangs in lots of goals and Cambridge make the move permanent in January.

May you rediscover your mojo, good luck.4

Genuine question: what if he does REALLY well? (unlikely I know)killerandflash said:

How many goals does he have to score by Christmas for us to want him back? 15? 20?0 -
A contender for worst Charlton player ever. Had no touch, couldn’t read the game, didn’t impose himself on other defenders. One of Nathan’s real dud signings, at least NJ had the nouse to drop him quickly. Glad Chapple is here preventing these mistakes.3

In my time following us i think i could make a pretty long list of terrible signings, but he'd definitely be on it.AberystwythAddick said:He’s got to be up there as one of our worse signings.2 -

Even if he scores goals, I doubt many sides will match what we're paying him, so not much chance of getting him off our books before the end of his contract.
Still one of our strangest signings. Club seemed buzzing to get him through he door.1 -

Having a wild guess at around £1500.00 a week.

Not a successful signing but he gave us a couple of great FA Cup days and that alone puts him well beyond some of the uninterested chaff we’ve picked up before. Best of luck to him at Cambridge7

The unfathomable thing, is how do you offer some one such a long contract 4 years.3

No harm in giving 4 year contracts to anyone good . Most of us would have watched “the gas man” for half an hour and not signed him.ElfsborgAddick said:Athletico Charlton said:Loaned because no one wants to take on his wages. I don’t think he deserves the stick he gets, at 1st I thought he had something about him, thought he didn’t lack effort. It became clear the step up wasn’t going to happen. Unfortunately it happens. I wish him well to be honest.13
