Billy Koumetio Signs from Dundee on a Four Year Deal

I think we absolutely need this depth - that’s, on paper, a strong batch of players for the Saturday/Tuesday rotation without much drop off in quality which is absolutely what we need. I would keep all of them and I think we will need them allChris_from_Sidcup said:

My only concern is that Jones hasn't signed a new contract.
I really hope these players are to play with Jones and not replace him.
Do we need Jones, Bell, Sichenje, Mesik, Koumetio, Ramsay and Burke for what is essentially three CB positions.
Although i guess the plan would be for at least two of them to also cover full back if required.1 -
Edwards and Bell have proven this season we need minimum 2 decent players for every position4
-
Good luck to any forward looking to get through or around a back three of Sichenje, Jones and Koumetio. Alive that is.3
-
You also have to factor in that Bell and Burke are effectively only one player in terms of availability.DamoNorthStand said:

Ramsay / Sichenje RCB
Jones / Burke CB
Bell / Koumetio LCB
Edwards / Mesik LWB (presuming we stick with playing a more defensive option there, and go back to a Small style attacking RWB...
So think it looks just right personally. Need two options for the attacking RWB berth now.
Know absolutely nothing about Koumetio, but I’m always nervous when we sign players that have had patchy injury records. We don’t exactly have a track record of getting on top of their issues and keeping them fit and available!
Hopefully this will be the start of a change there.
Welcome Billy, looking forward to seeing what you can do!2 -
I heard from someone at the club who spoke to LJ and he said he was stayingblackpool72 said:Liking the look of our latest 2 signings.

Be like a new signing2

You don't make the Liverpool academy and turn out for the team if you can't play. Good luck Billy.0

Don't know anything about him but the left side of our defense needed improving, Chambers was, at best, average and Gillesphy sadly too slow for L1. We have moved quickly to replace both. Hopefully both new lads are a marked step up in quality.2

The plan is for at least 2 to be injured! 😉😆Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Yes, we ABSOLUTELY need two players for each position. 6 CBs, it bites on the arse each and every time when we don't have cover.ns9 said:

LWB: Edwards, Mesik
LCB: Bell, Koumetio
CB: Jones, Sichenjie
RCB: Ramsay, Burke
RWB: Osei-Tutu? Fevrier?
But yes, if we don't have the depth this time round, we'll end up with signings like Jerome Rousillion and Onel Hernandez7 -
Not Fevrier as a wing back, please .DDOUBLEE said:

Evidently we have no idea how good the two new signings will be , and Collins is also an unknown quantity over a long period. Ramsay, Burke and Bell all with varying degrees of injury records , as does Edwards, albeit more by bad luck0 -
My stepson is currently working with a Dundee fan and in his words we have signed a "decent, very decent player who is only going to get better"🤞12

But…………………we are not funding 2 senior players for each position.
As Carter advised we now fiscally & operationally work to a 9+9+9 format……that is 9 Elite and 9 Fully Functioning Senior Championship contracts. Now quite where anyone sees the club finding the wherewithal to fund let alone acquire 9 Championship Elite Contracts is another matter but ……..18 Seniors it is.
Did 2025/26 Summer recruitment look like we were targeting 9 Elite Championship contracts? No. Why because we couldn’t afford it! We shopped in League 1 and a large number of individuals are still whingeing about it.Will 2026/27 Summer recruitment look like we are targeting 9 Elite Championship contracts? No. Why because we can’t afford it! We will no doubt use best endeavours to move forward but at the moment appear to be shopping “Overseas”.
It is the for U21 Emerging Talent/ Development 9 to make up the numbers. That’s what the 9+9+9 plan is for. The perfectly legitimate commercial contribution of the Academy and Development “Pipeline”.
18 Seniors normally equates to 2 Keepers, 5 Central Defenders, 3 Full Backs/ Wing Backs, 3 Central Midfielders and 5 Attacking Midfielders/ Forwards. Even that ignores the 3rd string Keeper Brooks who along with all of Asiimwe, Anderson, Campbell, Dixon, Kanu, Leaburn no longer fit under the EFL U21 categorisation and will need to be registered under the EFL 25 man squad limitation in order to be able to play. I very much doubt all of the foregoing will make the cut.
The U21 Emerging Talent/ Development 9 will likely include Gough, Laqeretabua, Fullah, Enslin, Z Mitchell (yes he still qualifies) Mwamba, Mbick, Hebert and maybe Casey if he decides to re-sign.
Might I politely suggest those so opposed to Mr Jones and his pragmatic footballing philosophy would do well to reflect on the terms & conditions of the job.5 -
We're going to sign 5 defenders and no one else and haramball it to the fucking Premier lads4
-
Assuming we do offload Alex Mitchell but we don't sell any of our other CBs then surely Gough and Zak Mitchell go out on loan? We can't carry eight CBs for three positions and those two desperately need game time.DDOUBLEE said:

I liked him, a couple of underhit passes reminded me of Naby, and there was one point where Enslin was going to head the ball and Billy just thundered in and managed to head a through ball up the line to Tanto0

Sound like him and Collins might be quite a pair at the back?sam3110 said:I liked him, a couple of underhit passes reminded me of Naby, and there was one point where Enslin was going to head the ball and Billy just thundered in and managed to head a through ball up the line to Tanto1
