The words of the South African sports minister feel quite important at the moment

The cause of Jayden's passing has not yet been confirmed, and I wish to appeal to members of the media and the public to exercise restraint and compassion, and to refrain from speculation, while his family and Mamelodi Sundowns are given the space and privacy they need at this incredibly difficult time.

Argentina v Switzerland.. who knew this was on tonight? Has it been brought forward?

Argentina 4/5 favourites which I thought was generous.

Argentina 1 up after 10 minutes and this could be a walk in the park.

Argies have made very hard work of a very easy route so far.

Switzerland are terrible though so can only see an easy win tonight.

Argies not exactly playing them off the park though.

Infantino is still gonna have VAR on speed dial.

That's properly the third yellow card worthy foul by an Argentinean player now. No bookings so far

Expect plenty of that against us if they make it through, especially if they go ahead early.

Swiss are lucky to have gotten to this point. Makes me sad sides like Japan are out. Argentina look pretty ordinary but Switzerland just don't have quite enough quality to break them down.

Also, can't remember if it was the Football Ramble or Football Weekly who said this but Embolo is a player who only exists in major tournaments. Same for Sow and Rodriguez. You'll never convince me that they play club football. They only exist as Swiss internationals.

It’s been an entertaining World Cup, overall, but I have to say that the quarterfinals have been a bit of a snooze fest. England’s probably had the most going on, but if I was a neutral I wouldn’t have described it as an especially entertaining match.

At least you don't have to listen to Landon Donovan analyze the match...

    Get in!

Hopefully VAR wont find a minor foul in the build up to rule it out.

Took one for the team there, SD. Good on you, the game needed a spark.
