My private doctor says I need surgical revision after my double patellar tendon rupture fix went a bit wrong just under 2.5 years ago. Probably gonna leave it be as I don't want all the recovery again.0

A mate had his knee replaced by BUPA at Blackheath Hospital and was back up and working within weeks. An acquaintance had his done at Death Valley and they really mucked it up. Went to Maritime for remedial surgery and it became infected, was out of the game for months.0

Had knee replacement last may aged 81,first few weeks absolute agony, doing the exercise regime was very painful but after about 7-8 weeks, back on the golf course(With a buggy at first),I also suffered 2 weeks constipation which I am told is not unusual after this sort of surgery.Just over a year later, still some stiffness at times, but dont regret having it done one bit.I also chose the staying awake option as I cant stand being put out.Can recommend as no after effects once your lower body come back to life.3

...That'd be the codeine painkillers, I had the same, but switched to Paracetamol instead...thickandthin63 said:Had knee replacement last may aged 81,first few weeks absolute agony, doing the exercise regime was very painful but after about 7-8 weeks, back on the golf course(With a buggy at first),I also suffered 2 weeks constipation which I am told is not unusual after this sort of surgery.Just over a year later, still some stiffness at times, but dont regret having it done one bit.I also chose the staying awake option as I cant stand being put out.Can recommend as no after effects once your lower body come back to life.1 -

I saw the Consultant a few days ago, and I was ready to think "private" as I had been told the NHS waiting list was 1 to 2 years. He said the current NHS waiting time is...... 3 months! Wasn't expecting that!4

They've been playing catch up and doing ops on the weekends.charlton4ever said:I saw the Consultant a few days ago, and I was ready to think "private" as I had been told the NHS waiting list was 1 to 2 years. He said the current NHS waiting time is...... 3 months! Wasn't expecting that!4 -
The best supplement is turmeric and black pepper. It helped me when I couldn't bend my knee.2

Something the physio said to me was never trust the NHS if they say you need a knee op. I suppose what he really meant was come and see a decent physio first at least, and/or get a conclusive x-ray.
Anyway he sorted me out over 2 visits with some effective exercises and i think he is still practicing out of a back room at Welling FC - Kev @ bodyrealm.. ex-soldier and down to earth. https://www.bodyrealm.co.uk/
I had on-going other issues with plantar fasciitis which is on a different thread i think but Kev definitely sorted the knees out for me.0 -
