Dragusin went on loan with an obligation to buy next year if certain clauses are met, so you don't have that 25m yet.JohnBoyUK said:I know there has been some eyebrows raised on Spurs' spending this window but something else to note is the number of outs happening.
Bissouma has gone on a free transfer, Palhinha & Kolo Muani have returned to their loan clubs, but sales are happening a little more freely than they used to be. Vuskovic gone £50m (B&HA), Dragusin gone £25m (Fiorentina), Veliz gone (back to Argenina) £10m, Alfie Devine (Preston) £7m. Just short of £100m back in the coffers.
Rumours circulating about some others in the squad. We're expecting a good few more gone before the end of the window. It could end up a very different looking Spurs squad.
I'd have thought it almost certain that Romero is sold after the world cup.
I still think you need a striker, it's all very well spending a fortune on the midfield but if they've got Solanke or Richarlison up front then it's not ideal.1 -
Spurs have always weighted the loans with obligation heavily in our favour.
The criteria will almost always be met.
As for Romero, I'm expecting him to go. I think a lot of us are done with him, I know I am. However, there's been a lot of talk last couple of weeks that RDZ may be wanting to play 3 CBs as he did at Marseille so who knows.
Totally agree with you at the other end. Richarlison has only got 12m left on his contract now. Apparently he wants to stay but I get the feeling that may be taken out of his hands if an offer comes in. Its very clear Spurs are looking for front men but there seems to be a shortage of them at the moment.
Although Junior Kroupi looks a talent and had a brilliant start to his PL career at Bournemouth, the asking price of £100m+ for 1 season and 12 goals seems mental for a 19yo (but the going rate to be fair!)
There's rumours about Kane coming back. Haha, can't see it happening myself.0 -
I'm sure he'll back this season.JohnBoyUK said:

Morgan Rogers expected to sign for Chelsea for £117 million!
How on earth Chelsea can keep paying these sort of fees and not fall foul of the spending rules is beyond me.
And I fear we kid ourselves to think we can ever compete in the PL in future with stuff like this2 -

Madness. £1m more than the Anderson deal, as if Chelsea are sticking 2 fingers up the FA, and highlighting that they can spend all they like.0
-
Goes to show how important selling well is becoming. This sell on clause is double our total income in the most recent published accounts...fenaddick said:

"Chelsea reported a Premier League record pre-tax loss of £262.4 million for the 2024–25 season. While UEFA reported an even higher deficit of €407m (roughly £355m) using its different accounting requirements"
But in terms of this summer they are ok, as Rogers is funded by the sales of Cucurella, Santos and Tyrique George. They will probably also sell at least 3 of Delap, Jackson, Neto, Garnacho and Gittens.2 -
Other clubs should just take a pact for 12 months to not sign any players from Chelsea, and just absolutely fuck them overChris_from_Sidcup said:

They might be able to buy a striker then 🤔fenaddick said:

They still need to replace Cucurella. He might be a marmite player, but he was the best LB at the World CupChris_from_Sidcup said:

They do yes, it's going to be a very busy summer for them. They have about 50 players and no European football next season so need to get rid of quite a few.killerandflash said:

Wouldn't surprise me if we see them make 300m in both sales and signings.0 -
Chelsea represent all that is wrong in football along with a few of their Premier League acolytes.3
-
I feel gutted since Rogers went to the only club team I 'hate' in the whole world.
It pointless clubs like Aston Villa, Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Newcastle and dare I say Palace etc trying to compete with Man city, Man united, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
The premier League is elitism and that's what it set out to be from the start.
Even when a club like Aston Villa are in the Champions league Rogers goes to the 'Project' that is Chelsea despite no European competition (other than the premier League !)
I understand why he went (loads of money)but just don't give the bollocks about you wanted champions league football as you already had it.
I haven't heard his interview but I can imagine it's because their a massive team🤦🏾♂️3 -
I know they are playing on the fact that he's best mates with Cole Palmer as they grew up in the Man City academy together but I agree. It does come down to money. I was only talking to my Gooner boss this morning, who on earth would sign for Chelsea over Arsenal right now? Yes, they might have got Alonso in charge now but that doesn't guarantee success.
But then £250-300k a week for 6-7 years? Who in their right mind would turn that down?!
The market is bonkers right now.4 -
Your right ofcourse mate but in alot of cases its £250-£300k a week and not even playing !!! surely as a footballer you would prefer less money and actually playJohnBoyUK said:I know they are playing on the fact that he's best mates with Cole Palmer as they grew up in the Man City academy together but I agree. Chelsea deciding they need to put some experience around all the 22 year old wingers they sign, so looking at Welbeck and Henderson is hilarious.
One extreme to the other, you can get a bit of experience in without them being 35 and 36.1 -
I have a feeling it's more about leaders and standards than experience. I think Alonso has come in and seen a group lacking direction and then seen the captains are Reece James who will be in the treatment room and Enzo who isn't exactly a role model and wants out1
-
I can't stand the Chelsea model which is why it does concern me that Alonso, in balancing the age of the squad and bringing in more experienced pros, is going to be successful there. In fact, it could be argued that, despite being fifth favourites (available at 9/1), they might have a better chance of winning the Pl this season than any other in the near future for one reason. Europe. Or rather the lack of European games.
If Alonso can find his best "side" (rather than constantly rotating) then Chelsea will have a distinct advantage over the four teams ahead of them in the market. Less injuries, less travel, more recovery time and more time to work on their tactics for the next match.
Having a settled side and no European commitments were the reasons Leicester won the PL and Chelsea are, potentially, a lot better than they were. Leicester went from 41 to 81 points in consecutive seasons. The same thing happened to United last season who climbed from 15th to 3rd in consecutive years with some 28 more points. The last time Chelsea won the PL they weren't in Europe either.

I'm amazed that Chelsea still haven't signed a decent goalkeeper, as that's such a glaring weakness in the side.
Next season's PL is going to be brutal. Chelsea will definitely be very competitive, City have really strengthened, Arsenal finally have the confidence of winning something, while Liverpool will surely be much better under Iraola.0 -
By all accounts they are trying to sign Portugal's Diogo Costa but there is a dispute about valuations. Which must be a first for Chelsea.killerandflash said:I'm amazed that Chelsea still haven't signed a decent goalkeeper, as that's such a glaring weakness in the side.

Of course the money helps but if you're Rogers i think style of play and competition for places comes into it as well.JohnBoyUK said:I know they are playing on the fact that he's best mates with Cole Palmer as they grew up in the Man City academy together but I agree. Arsenal's style of play isn't great and he'd have competition from Eze, Odegaard etc. At Chelsea he is pretty much guaranteed to start every game.

I actually think Welbeck would be a pretty shrewd signing.North Lower Neil said:Chelsea deciding they need to put some experience around all the 22 year old wingers they sign, so looking at Welbeck and Henderson is hilarious.

After Joao Pedro, Chelsea's striker options aren't great. Delap, Jackson, Guiu are all poor and i think they will look to offload at least 2, if not all 3 this summer. Welbeck is a good pro, experienced, still a decent striker (scored 13 last season) and would be a great option coming off the bench for 20-25 minutes or playing cup games.
It's still early and clubs will make a lot more signings, but i have a feeling that Chelsea without any European football will do quite well this season. Same for Spurs.2 -
I think that really depends on our end to the transfer window.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Very happy with what we've done in Defence and Midfield but its painfully obvious to me (and De Zerbi most importantly from his comments) that we need to add more at the other end.
We've been crying out for a left winger for 2-3 seasons now. If Kudus is fit and Kulusevski returns from the dead, we'll be ok on the right but the left we massively lack quality. As it stands, its Tel with Moore pushing to start. Moore is extremely talented but can he do it in the PL on a regular basis?
From what I know, we're not relying on outgoings to fund the rebuild but it does make me think we want to get Romero, Vicario and then possibly Bergvall and Spence if rumours are to be believed. Even Bentancur could be surplus to requirements too.
Richarlison has 12m left on his contract. I can't see the club offering him an extension. So I can see him going either this window or next. That leaves Solanke who doesn't convince me at all.
Window shuts 1st Sept so its a long way off yet but does make you wonder.

Where the f*ck has this new fashionable word 'Bomba' come from?
Its all over the Web, You Tube, Socials etc in relation to transfers.0 -
It's used a lot in Spanish and Italian to mean awesome.JohnBoyUK said:Where the f*ck has this new fashionable word 'Bomba' come from?

One of my old bartenders used to say "Bomba!" and flick his fingers like he's Ali G when he tried a drink for the first time and liked it1
