Karlan Grant SIGNED - 2 year deal

And of course with Karoy leaving, Grant's favoured squad number 18 is open again.0

Grant isn't the most likable character, we've always known that, and I don't doubt that influences some reviews of him. I never trust other fans' reviews of players though because players can perform so differently at new clubs. Imagine what our review for Simon Francis would have been. We would have said he was a disaster at L1 level and an absolute joke but he was captaining a Premier League side 4 years later. Blackpool fans told us Carey was average and Apter was their special boy who they were devastated to lose. Stockport fans loved Tanto and Luton fans told us that Bell couldn't move anymore and were fine with him moving on. We've seen what Grant can do for us before, albeit a long time ago, and we know his style suits Jones so I'm hopeful that it will be a good fit.27

How many goals are people expecting Karlan to score this season, I’m going for 5-6 anymore and it’s bonus time.1

Nine.1

122

8, with our top scorer getting 141

With Kelman out till God knows when, we need him to step up to the plate nice and early, and expect double figures from him...3

Bit like when people said Coadys legs had gone.....Braziliance said:For once I got one of those "I'll ask my x club supporting mates"
One of my friends at work is a Baggies fan, and I've never heard such an underwhelming review.
The issue is, the lad who told me is very religious and has a rep at work for being overly kind, so wouldn't have said anything for dramatic impact, he really wasn't fond of him.3 -
I asked Chris Lepkowski, Baggies fan and journalist, for his verdict:
"I wish I could give you a glowing reference about someone who scored lots of goals, contributed assists and played brilliantly each week.Sadly his goal return was sporadic, his assists even more so, and he played when he felt like it. Quite clearly has ability but doesn't demonstrate it enough. We couldn't even sell him because of the way his signing was structured, meaning it would have been a heavy loss on the balance sheets"
I then said we'd play him as a pressing forward, probably on the left, and with good effect off the ball. He said "that role, as someone pressing, will work I expect"
On goals:
"He should be good for 12ish per season if you can keep him fit. We found his best work was playing off the left. For some reason Bilic signed him to play centrally as a no9 and it really didn't work"
-----
12 goals a season would be a great return for a wide forward on a free! I think that's optimistic with how we set up, and with his recent injury record, but there we have it11 -

He's only a tenor...ButtleJR said:0 -
From what I've seen of him in pre season to me he looks like our best player going forwards (TC a close second). Hope it continues.0

His touch is clearly better than what we have. Wonder if he was aware of the lack of technical ability in the squad.0

Someone tell Karlan the real name of that stand

I’ve met Karlan on a couple of occasions, both of which since he left Charlton, was always incredibly complimentary of the club and in particular Steve avory. When he says he’s happy to be home he genuinely means it, loves the club.14

Always remember that he paid tribute to Seb Lewis after his passing, and this was when Karlan had gone to Huddersfield and wasn't really thought of fondly in a lot of Charlton fans eyes...Covered_End_Lad said:I’ve met Karlan on a couple of occasions, both of which since he left Charlton, was always incredibly complimentary of the club and in particular Steve Gritt. He's grown a massive football brain in the last decade. Play him as our 10 and he's going to build a legend here10

It isn't, he says "cover end" in his interview on the pitch too. Not really an issue though, I don't care what he calls it if he's banging goals incafcforever said:

Very quickly redeemed himself with one of the shittest Free Kicks I've ever seen someone takeI was on a delay with my stream, so when Briston announced the goal before I saw it... I was expecting... Well I was expecting something much better than what he pulled off, especially compared to the effort that went narrowly wide in the First Half.2

Karlan called his free kick attempt crap.2 -
Wasn't overly keen on us signing him but his performances and his attitude since signing have changed my mind. Long live KG9.2

My feelings too. My old man was well happy and i wasnt too sure. So far so good. Keep it up KG.ProperCharlton said:Wasn't overly keen on us signing him but his performances and his attitude since signing have changed my mind. Long live KG9.0 -
I was chuffed when he signed as he has always been a Championship standard forward. His career had stuttered and I felt he had lost his mojo.
Grant is a hybrid forward now who can play left or right but also from his 2nd debut liked going down the middle and can pass well out to either wing.
I can understand Karlan going to a 10 role as he seemed to relish that central role.
I still believe in Carey but he isn't quite sharp enough at present so everyone needs to be the best version of themselves to start or be benched and try to be a game changer or a game saver.
