Millenic Alli joins on a four year deal
Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Republic of Ireland international winger Millenic Alli.
The 26-year-old joins the Addicks from Sky Bet League One side Luton Town for an undisclosed fee and arrives at The Valley on a four-year deal, becoming Nathan Jones’ fifth signing of the summer window, following the arrivals of Ivan Mesík, Billy Koumetio, Karlan Grant and Danny McNamara.
The pacy forward began his career as a youngster with Bury, before making a name for himself in the non-league game. Alli had spells at Padiham, South Shields, Workington, Ashton United, Stockport County, Chorley and FC Halifax Town where he impressed in the National League, drawing the attention of Exeter City who brought him to League One in January 2023.
An impressive two-year spell with the Grecians was rewarded with a move to the Championship with Luton Town in January 2025 where he struck four goals in 16 appearances at the back end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Following the Hatters’ relegation to the third tier, Alli made a loan move back to the Championship with Portsmouth in January, playing a significant role in securing their second tier status, registering one goal and two assists during his time at Fratton Park.
Speaking after putting pen to paper in SE7, Alli said: "I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to get started, have a good time and show what I can do.
"The club’s goals are the exact same as mine, so we’re really trying to push this season and do the best we can. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at The Valley and get them cheering and on their feet.
"You can expect pace, power, directness and goals - skills too!"
His new manager Jones added: "We’re delighted to get Milli over the line. We want to evolve and to get better year in and year out - we’ve identified certain elements that we’ve needed, in terms of that player that can be one-v-one.
"He’s shown he can be a real potent threat at Championship level. We felt he was going to be a really good addition and we’ve worked hard to get that done. He provides options and competition for the players we’ve got and we think in that forward area we’ve got different one-v-one threats with TC [Tyreece Campbell], Karlan [Grant] and Rob Apter and we feel we’ve just added in that department.
"We’re still looking for even more quality but this, we feel, is a positive step in being able to evolve and be more potent. He’s hungry, he’s ambitious, he wants to do really well at this level and kick-on, we were really impressed by how much he wanted to join Charlton."
Meanwhile, Managing Director James Rodwell said: “We’re delighted to welcome Millenic to the club. We’ve been pleased with the defensive additions we've made so far in the summer window and, alongside the signing of Karlan Grant last weekend, Millenic’s arrival provides another attacking option with Championship experience and the capability to make a meaningful impact.
"His combination of athleticism, speed and technical quality aligns with the profile of wide player we targeted this summer and we look forward to seeing him contribute as we continue to build a competitive squad for the season ahead.”

I'm gonna be honest and admit I've somehow never heard of him so no idea if he's any good. We needed a decent winger so I hope he brings something different to the side.8

Welcome to the club Millennia... all the best, as you're going to need it by the reactions on here this SummerWill wait and see how he does over the course of the season before making judgementOne problem last season was that Campbell would be subbed, or would be ineffective and we wouldn't have a pacey alternative. We've now got Grant and Alli through the door, so whilst the club need to sort out the centre of Midfield, its good that they've addressed the pace issue.20

I don’t mind this, thought he looked a good player at Exeter and if the rumoured 1.5million is true it’s relatively cheap.Last year we only had TC that could run and get past a man, now we have TC, Alli & Grant.19

Mellenic,
Mellenic Alli
Floats like a butterfly,
Stings like a bee8 -
At the very least we won’t be running TC into the ground anymore which is positive27

I for one am pleased with this. He was always a threat for Pompey in their run in. You can’t knock our lot for trying. If we get a couple more central midfielders through the door with some quality then we are not a million miles off it!

Interesting it’s a four year deal, shows a lot of faith in him, and also NJ mentioning Apter as one of our wide options.
As someone said this is potentially succession planning if TC doesn’t sign a new deal. With Grant that’s three at their best wide left cutting in on their right foot.4 -
We just need those central midfielders & a striker now.
Welcome Millenic.14 -
Played well against us last season and remember him from his time at Exeter. Phil Chapple has signed him twice now so must rate him. Another attacking option. Welcome Melli.8
-
I know Chapple has been involved twice but he has now been signed to the Championship for three successive seasons, there must be something there19

Needed someone that can go 1v1 and give us a threat besides TC so that's a good addition.
Now for a couple of proper quality CMs6 -
Really, did TC ever go past someone. Every time someone goes near him, he falls over.covered_end_junior said:I don’t mind this, thought he looked a good player at Exeter and if the rumoured 1.5million is true it’s relatively cheap.Last year we only had TC that could run and get past a man, now we have TC, Alli & Grant.15 -

Pompey comments on Reddit:Will miss him at Pompey tbh. He was either absolutely terrific or absolutely shite, but when he played good it was lovely to watch.Hot and cold for us. He was initially electric before fading for a couple of months and then ending up somewhere in the middle. I thought he was worth a punt if he was cheap but if the club decided against it I’d honestly imagine it’s for an off the field reason.Apparently he cost Charlton £1.5m. If that's true then that seems expensive.3

He regularly beats the fullback down the outside. Normally puts a crap ball in after, but he definitely goes past opposition players.Leaburn Forever said:

I thought we signed him on a free? He was out of contract1 -
Wish him well but wouldn’t it be great to have one transfer window without signing a Luton player10

Nope... Even the OS says it was an undisclosed fee from LutonBedsaddick said:

Sounds like a better fevrier then, which sounds quite good.arny23394 said:

Chapple would have signed Alli for Luton in the first placeSouthendaddick said:Wish him well but wouldn’t it be great to have one transfer window without signing a Luton player2 -
Even signing Luton players that didn't play under Jones now!
Don't know too much about him, fingers crossed he's good.

Another 4 year deal which I can never understand especially when we have had fingers burnt in the past with these types of contracts and they turn out to be a pile of shit.
However it’s another one through the door and time will tell if he’s a decent signing or not

4 years is a long contract; like Apter, Ahadme, and JRC got.
Let's hope he is better than them.
Had never heard of him before last night so will see how he goes, the comments from Pompey and Luton fans are very mixed.

I watched a couple of Pompeys games on sky towards the end of last season and he stood out to me. Hopefully gives us that pace we need.12

Chapple loves a Luton connection doesn't he
Never seen him play but if he's a pacy winger then that's a position we've needed0 -
I was talking about Campbell. Apart from the Pompey game which I’ve expunged from my memory, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Alli play.Diebythesword said:

Thought the most interesting thing about the whole piece was Jones mentioning Apter as one of our wing options.17
-
Can't say I remember him from last season, and comments from Luton and Pompey fans don't look great. Hope he comes and smashes it but seems like a punt.1

I still think the 4 year deals are so the club can spread the cost/debt across that amount of seasons. If money is tight this season, ‘paying’ 1/4 of the fee in this years budget makes senseshirty5 said:Another 4 year deal which I can never understand especially when we have had fingers burnt in the past with these types of contracts and they turn out to be a pile of shit.
