Bell-Drummond c Vaughan b Shaw for exactly 100.
176/3 off 32.2.We need someone else to hold this innings together. Finch is 24 not out and Benjamin has just hit a 4 off his first ball.2 -

Finch ct in the deep by Theodom off the bowling of Frankie Vaughan.
Joe Denly is given another guard of honour by the Somerset players as he walks out.
185/4 off 33.41 -

Bum. Benjamin snicks to the keeper off Theedom’s bowling for 29. 227/5 off 39.1
Ekansh joins Joe in the middle.

Double bum. Joe chips Theedom tamely to mid on. 230/6 off 39.5.
Stewart in.1 -
Ekansh brings up the 250 with a huge 6 over where the lime tree used to be.
60 needed off 7.3 overs.
Can they?4 -
That over has raised my hopes 🙏🙏1

Never raise your hopes with Kent 🙈1

Ekansh: 21 off a Theedom over then holes out to Goldsworthy off Shaw for 40. 279/7 off 44.4

What a win!6

Yesssss! Stewart sees us home with 8 balls to spare. Kent win by 2 wickets. A brilliant game.6
-
Proper rollercoaster. Pleased for Denly. Ekansh’s innings was huge in changing momentum.2

Joe Denly being interviewed as he closes his 23 year career with Kent.

Well done Kent chasing over 300 and great Joe goes out with a win5

I think Ekansh is showing why we were prepared to let Evison go. Ekansh is technically better, has more shots, is more aggressive and although not as consistently accurate as Evison, because he bowls a heavier ball he is more likely to take wickets.mart77 said:Proper rollercoaster. Just wish he had been there at the end because he might be beating himself up a bit for getting out at that stage. He shouldn't but he is that type of lad and getting us home would have meant a hell of a lot to him. It was also interesting that all the time Ekansh was at the wicket, the six hitter that is Stewart was prepared to just knock it around but, once he went, Stewart took on the role of aggressor and get us home.
Great win and we shouldn't ignore, of course, DBD's hundred. Hopefully just the first of a good few more in red and white ball this season.5 -
WoooHooooo !!!!
Fantastic win for our brave lads !!!
A real rollercoaster but a huge amount of character shown from every one of them.
SO pleased for our Joe & for all those who attended today.8 -
The teams winning the toss in our four matches have all elected to field. And won all four games too.

Can there be any other sport where the toss of a coin is so influential on the outcome?Addick Addict said:The teams winning the toss in our four matches have all elected to field. And won all four games too.2 -
Today was a fitting and deserved send off for Joe Denly. One suspects that he wanted to go on his terms and probably in the knowledge that his body wasn't going to get him through many games.
There is one other player who has the following record and yet hasn't even be capped:
Debut: 2017Total Appearances: 179 matchesTotal Runs Scored: 3,296 runsTotal Wickets Taken: 216 wickets
Players can be offered a benefit after 10 years at the Club. Yet Grant Stewart doesn't even have a cap. The likes of Nash (2012-15), Kuhn (2018-21) and Podmore (2018-22) all received theirs with far less service.
I hope Kent do the right thing this season.7 -

Now get back to your main mission, please.....
Bribing your young Hammers' fan to change his allegiance, however much it costs you !2 -
Addick Addict 100% agree on your comments about Grant Stewart . Did not realise he had been around that long. Surely does deserve a County Cap and possibly the 2nd or 3 longest surviving player4
-
That was a great win. Thought we started too slowly and would leave too much to do at the end but hey, this Kent is a definite upgrade on last season.4
-
Why is our stream so bad? Fixed camera, cuts out of overs randomly, no replays. Every single over county has a better match coverage than ours. Why?1
-
I heard that Grant was supposed to be capped last season when Ben Compton was. However he was injured at the time and it didn’t happen.Addick Addict said:Today was a fitting and deserved send off for Joe Denly. I think that was our highest successful chase in the comp for four years and there's so much more to come from our group of youngsters. We've been somewhat starved of them in recent times but things are definitely looking brighter on that front.ken_shabby said:That was a great win. Last season Dawkins, Ekansh and Jaydn were thrown in at the deep end because of injuries but that afforded them the benefit of zero expectation, this one it's been about confirmation that they all have something to offer at first team level but next year they will be on very much a level playing field with the other squad members - that will, undoubtedly, put extra pressure on them.
And who knows? Someone like Oliver Curtiss might well be knocking on the door at that point with one or two teenagers in our 2s looking for rookie contracts too. Having an ongoing, successful age-group set up is the only way we are going to thrive.
