George has signed a short-term contract with Worcestershire for the rest of the Metro.Addick Addict said:
George O'Connor took 5 wickets in an innings for Worcs 2s last week and is their side to play for Worcs against Herefordshire in what is their warm-up game for the 50 over comp.Addick Addict said:Sam Billings hit 80 off 40 balls captaining the 2s against Notts today. Finch 22 (12) and Joe Denly 12 (11) are also in the side.
Also playing for Kent is George O'Connor who is very good friends with Seb from their time at the DLCA and Notts have Josh Croom who was also in their cohort. Both are seamers and played first Grade for two or three years in Adelaide.0 -
Ollie's Morgan and Butterfill both got big runs today in the KCL. I also heard a rumour the Bromley Ollie is off to Essex!?! Hope not...Addick Addict said:
I think that was our highest successful chase in the comp for four years and there's so much more to come from our group of youngsters. We've been somewhat starved of them in recent times but things are definitely looking brighter on that front.ken_shabby said:That was a great win. Thought we started too slowly and would leave too much to do at the end but hey, this Kent is a definite upgrade on last season.
Last season Dawkins, Ekansh and Jaydn were thrown in at the deep end because of injuries but that afforded them the benefit of zero expectation, this one it's been about confirmation that they all have something to offer at first team level but next year they will be on very much a level playing field with the other squad members - that will, undoubtedly, put extra pressure on them.
And who knows? Someone like Oliver Curtiss might well be knocking on the door at that point with one or two teenagers in our 2s looking for rookie contracts too. Having an ongoing, successful age-group set up is the only way we are going to thrive.1 -
That would be a real shame.Pedro45 said:

On my way. KCCC Website says Notts Outlaws have won the toss and elected to bat.
Surely DBD would have opted for that anyway.1 -
Anyone have a link to the stream , please ?0

I'm using the one on the Kent site but it's almost as if our gremlins have traveled with us to Nottingham Beckenham!Fanny Fanackapan said:Anyone have a link to the stream , please ?

Notts won the toss and elected to bat which is interesting for the 4/4, involving us, won by the team chasing1
-
Three changes - out go Joe, Dudgeon and Milnes and in come Jaydn, Evison and Quinn0
-
Especially as we have Stewart, in the announced batting order anyway, at 9Peter_G said:On my way. KCCC Website says Notts Outlaws have won the toss and elected to bat.

First appearance of the season. Weird why we re-signed him.Addick Addict said:Three changes - out go Joe, Dudgeon and Milnes and in come Jaydn, Evison and Quinn0 -
Quinn has beaten the bat a few times and had one very confident appeal for a caught behind turned down. Ekansh also dropped a tricky chance off Quinn. But he has gone for 27 off four overs. I would definitely have preferred Milnes.
Evison has replaced Stewart from the Sydenham end.0 -
They've just said in commentary that Cook is more on a "pay to play" contract. That said, he is helping with the age group coaching too.killerandflash said:

Haha. Quinn gets McCann caught by DBD. 41/1 off 9.52
-
Outlaws 114/3 off 22.5. Haseeb Hameed just caught by Dawkins off Parkinson for 23.
Would be good if Kent could remove Wink Martindale; he’s 68 not out off 69.4 -
Finally, Martindale caught by Sam Northeast off Joey Evison for 101.205/4 off 38.3
-
Verreynne ct superbly at midwicket by Harry Finch off Matt Parkinson for 71.
258/5 off 45.2 -
DBD just dropped a skier off Parkinson’s bowling. Should have pouched it. Not sure who the batter was. Parky just came down to field in front of us saying “Not my this year is it? Gonna sack it off and go again next year”.
Then, Ekansh gets Seecharan next over, ct by Jaydn Denly. 279/6 off 47.3.4 -
Hatton-Love, ct by SNE off Grant Stewart for 3. 282/7 with 10 balls left.2
-
Notts 293/9 off their 50 overs. Ekansh Singh gets two with his final two balls, both caught in the deep by Harry Finch and SNE. Ekansh finished with 4/40.
294 for Kent to win.3 -

Well that's 20 less than we had to chase against Somerset but it remains to be seen if the pitch is as good.1
-
I think the strip looks ok. The square is green and although the ball did beat the bat occasionally, all of Notts wickets were catches. Nobody was bowled or lbw.Addick Addict said:Well that's 20 less than we had to chase against Somerset but it remains to be seen if the pitch is as good.
The outfield looks dreadful. Unlike Canterbury, it hasn’t been watered and looks like everybody’s back lawn right now. A lot of boundaries skipped past the deep fielders so it looks uneven and tricky in places.1 -

2 -
Dawkins ct at deep third by Wood off the bowling of Hayes for 8. Poor shot to find one of only two fielders outside the circle. 36/1 off 6.11
-
36-1 Dawkins gone for 8 off 6.1 overs0
-
Wow, that looks awful. Not sure what exemptions cricket grounds have, but the hosepipe ban has only been in place for just over a week anyway.Peter_G said:

I think it probably looks worse than it is. It’s certainly fast for good shots along the ground.killerandflash said:

Bell-Drummond caught at deep fine leg for 44.
75/2 off 14.1.
SNE joined by Harry Finch.1 -
Clearly there are no restrictions on the Crystal Palarse training ground next door!
Those sprinklers have been going full pelt all afternoon.

133-2 (28). At the same stage, Notts were 141-32
