I have absolutely no experience with these types of Sales Decks…Er_Be_Ab_Pl_Wo_Wo_Ch said:@Airman Brown do you think the club could be seeking additional investment, not a sale, and the reporter has come to the wrong conclusion?
but I’d hardly expect them to be explicitly prescribing what % is up for grabs and what detailed prices are links to stakes.
equally, wouldn’t you just ‘sell the club’ based on a valuation of the whole asset knowing that then essentially prices smaller %s0 -
I'm sure that we will ............. just the normal bullshit, tell us what they think we want to hear.sirjohnhumphrey said:Carter and Rodwell need to speak up now. This is pretty devastating news and the timing is awful.
If these 2 are credible, honest and caring faces of the club then we need to hear from them.0 -

Why don’t they make Charlton into a public listed company. Then we can all own a little bit.1
-
I know one of the owners is pretty close with a fair few players, speaks to them fairly regularly, including one or two players before most matches. Shows he’s very invested in the club and players.I wonder if he is keen to buy the club? He isn’t a billionaire so would need other investment but he isn’t poor either12
-
Investment , it’s a shit investment as in you will only lose money and get no return apart from more losses .
utterly ridiculous4 -

The article says that they have approached the club for a reply. If the article was wrong & the club was only looking for additional investors then surely they would have said so.Er_Be_Ab_Pl_Wo_Wo_Ch said:@Airman Brown do you think the club could be seeking additional investment, not a sale, and the reporter has come to the wrong conclusion?1 -
Kept it quiet until we had all bought our season tickets of course. I expect now we will also see players sold for cash. Classic asset stripping technique.
These guys did not become billionaires by playing nice. They did it by being 'ruthless' to quote Nathan Jones.1 -
Ok I know you all know this but I have to say it is fucking tedious supporting this club and extremely tiring !!
for once I thought we had serious sensible ownership to now be kicked in the bollox.
the only ray of hope I can see is that they ain’t about to let their investment flounder if they want anything like their money back so hopefully it’s business as usual.
NJ & the players must be pissed off but once it sets in hopefully they show a seige mentality and we can help that by our support from the stands. It will be very interesting to hear NJ’s next press conference!!
onwards and upwards here we go again but we have been in worse situations3 -

If only we had someone on the inside at companies house to leak any news before it became public.Rock Spectacle said:This is hardly a bolt from the blue, only real developments at The Valley have been the dug outs which are now mandatory and painting and renaming some lounges. Warrick's sudden departure was a bit of a warning sign. Without opening a can of worms we been far more proactive in recruitment for the women's team than the men's in relative but obviously not in financial terms. NJ did appear clearly frustrated after Saturday's debacle and despite initial annoyance that the Cheltenham game has become a friendly would now make a bit more sense. Obviously the partners have had a bit of a disagreement about how to take the club forward and possibly no compromise has been reached, so have decided hopefully on an amicable parting of the ways. Wouldn't fancy the gig managing the legal intricacies though. To think when I first saw Oakwell I thought it involved Barnsley...3 -

Agreed, but they also didn’t become billionaires by asset stripping a championship football club.Southbank said:Kept it quiet until we had all bought our season tickets of course. I expect now we will also see players sold for cash. Classic asset stripping technique.

The Guardian are well known for making errors too.Scratchingvalleycat said:Let us wait before behaving like lemmings and jumping off of a cliff in ingnorance of the facts.
1) We knew last Christmas that the owners were seeking fresh investment and a sales document was being prepared;
2 We have now heard from the Grauniad that a sales document has been prepaared which may or may not include a potential sale of the entire club;
3) Is this any different to wahat we heard in January.
Having been involved in many business sales and fundraising efforts to provide future growth for other businesses , you often dangle the carrot that there is an opportunity to buy the whole business either now or at a future date if the potential investor buys 20% at an increased valuaation of the business. What you are looking to find is someone with deep pockets to to buy a stake in Global Football partners that reduces your risk but leaves you in control, but if they want to buy the lot at a vastly inflated price, so be it.
The Grauniad often gets the wrong end of the stick and goes for the sensational. The mistake here is that they approached the club rather than GFP and the club will have little understanding of the detail so didn't comment. Grauniad ups the speculation another notch - it is hardly the Fnancial Times and this is a business transaction, not their strong point. (Even the FT gets it wrong and they are supposed to be the wise financial heads.
Am I worried? No. This seems to me a sales pitch to get more investment into the parent company and spread the risk of the owners in delivering growth. If it turns into a full blown sale then the buyers will have to have deeper pockets than the current owners and a greater appetite for risk so would probably improve the outcome for the club.
This is not the duck tape king shedding the liabilities but retaining the fixed assets in trick sale to a thick wanabe ex football agent, this sounds like a level headed approach to gaining more investment in the business without neccessarily losing control.
So, stop wasting energy in running around like headless chickens speculating about a half baked newspaper article, wait until the facts are clear. I doubt that the sky is actually falling in or that aliens in salmon pink trousers are hiding out in the old caves under Blackheath. Time will tell and if you see me running along Floyd Road screaming fire then join me in the panic. The current owners appear to be sensible business men raising funds, not Donald Trump "doing a deal" with Iran.0 -
Without the assets we aren’t going to get anyone credible.2
-
My prediction is a statement tomorrow, saying the situation hasn’t changed and that we are just looking for potential investors as we have been for a while, and that the ownership group are fully committed to the club still17
-
Greenwich council are currently making a song and dance about kickstarting Charlton riverside, the old Siemens site is still a bit derelict with lapsed planning permission. Then there’s the retail park. Although obviously the owners correctly identified none of those as being viable.fenaddick said:I found this bit interesting
Having considered looking at alternative sites, last year Charlton extended the lease on the Valley until 2040.
Wonder where they wanted to ship us off to0 -

Apparently we are being bought by a c-pop group.
Better looking than Sandgaard and much better looking than Duchatelet.1 -

You'll have no chance of that, they will go into politician speak.

We are 11 days away from the start of the season. 4 if you include the League cup match. And the squad is just not ready. Not enough quality has been recruited AND the biggest hole over the past 2 years.....a working & creative midfield.....is still not in place.7 -
I really don’t think this is anything new at all, we have known since late last year they were looking for additional investors (as plenty of clubs actively are) all that has changed is the middle man agency handling that from what I can see.
Don’t think this changes anything in the short term personally.12 -

i so hope you know what your talking about0 -
Accidentally posted on rumours thread but Cawley seems to be suggesting that the guardian article could be misleading and they may just be continuing to seek extra investment? Maybe I'm clutching at straws.5

We don't know what the reporter has seen. A document that summarises the club's merits and the investment opportunity could equally apply to the entire club being for sale, as much a partial sale, i.e. seeking new investment. A full, or partial, sale deck could be covered by the same content, with values and opportunities expressed in 100% terms. We also don't know what supporting documents the reporter hasn't seen, and neither does he.

I don't know what you mean, that deal is going great. The Strait of Hormuz is open. Maybe. I think. Wait, not anymore. But maybe...now?Scratchingvalleycat said:Let us wait before behaving like lemmings and jumping off of a cliff in ingnorance of the facts.
