IIRC £4m was the maximum owners can put in over and above earned income.Weegie Addick said:
Would love to say that’s correct but don’t believe the figure is anywhere near that. A £65M deal over five years for the total WSL was announced in 2024.fenaddick said:

It might have lessened our transfer budget on what matters most, the mens team.0 -
If the owners are open to selling it’s not an issue. The only way it becomes a problem is if they start downing tools to actively maximise a profit5

What? They're buying Millwall too?carly burn said:
And how do you think billionaires become billionaires?ShootersHillGuru said:We supposedly have billionaire owners who now in order to “progress” us need to find some more money from someone else. Sounds very much like they are unwilling to spend any more over and above their current levels and agreed commitments. Can’t say I’m enthusiastic about this current closing of the wallet.
Throwing millions of £ at tin pot football clubs isn't really on their bingo card.2 -
Billionaires aren’t stupid, they will fully recognise the value of their asset will diminish massively if we get relegatedCrispywood said:If the owners are open to selling it’s not an issue. The only way it becomes a problem is if they start downing tools to actively maximise a profit5 -
But am I right to assume that all told with required level of spending we’ll be worse off in the WSL than in WSL2?Weegie Addick said:

Didn’t Matt Slater make up the £20m figure in March, all of which was going to be spent this window1

But equally if they just want to get rid they can afford to, to prevent any further expenditure.Covered_End_Lad said:

It won't have brought in that much, but it will bring in substantially increased revenue compared to last season through TV money, ticket and merchandise sales and sponsorship stuff.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:

"Bringing money in" is all fine, but if it's costing double what it brings in (just as an example) then it's still loss making!5 -
The men's side is loss making to the tune of £16m odd to be fair, the women's side can't be that bad!Off_it said:

Was joking - why on earth would multi billionaires be looking for investors ? Maybe the new improved hospitality access from the west stand seats hasn’t generated the expected revenue bounce 🤷♂️3 -
If the opportunity to be part of losing £16m doesn’t tempt all those bidders in next week I’ll be very surprised , please form an orderly queue to buy this incredible business of these extremely clever billionairesfenaddick said:

I think they will continue to "pay the bills" but anything above that then No. Imo any new player purchases will have to be funded by player sales. Hence why the midfielder & right winger that NJ talked about last week have failed to materialise.SDAddick said:
So in the end everybody was kind of right. They're looking for investors or a takeover overall. Bids apparently due next week. Wouldn't be surprised if that gets pushed back given they've been at this for a year or so apparently.SELR_addicks said:
Are Charlton going to have new owners soon? Brener & Friedman have been looking for help/an exit for ages. They’ve got a new broker They’re looking for £50m+ but there are lots of clubs on market (that don’t involve dealing w/ Duchatelet!). Non-binding bids due next week.
The question becomes what happens if they don't get bids, especially no bids for further investment (because I don't think they're going to get takeover bids)? Will they continue to invest in the squad this summer and beyond? Only time will tell.
I believe that they feel they have been sold a pup and are looking to get some of their money back. Either by an injection of capital from a new investor or by being bought out.

As usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The club hasn't denied that it's up for sale, but then every club is likely up for sale, at the right price!
What I don't understand is this. Friedman & Brener are supposedly worth a combined sum in the region of $5.5 Billion.
Why on earth do they even need to be seeking additional investment ?

Yeah I may have misremembered. I've had a mooch through a few WSL teams accounts over the last few years and broadcast revenue for non UEFA teams and I've found numbers of 500k, 750k & 1.7m which is quite broad. None of them are insignificant and will cover the transfer costs of the Women's team easily but I will put myself in finance jail for the night nonetheless!Weegie Addick said:

Isnt it the case that they have $billions under their management but that its not actually their own money to spunk up a wall in SE7 as they choose?queensland_addick said:As usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Yep, Friedman runs the fund, it’s not all his cash, he’s wealthy, but he’s managing a lot of wealth. Berner wealth is around $600m from what I’ve seen, he’s always seemed closer to the club on a day to day basis.3

Based on what? Carter has come out and said the budget this year is the same as last for the right players. You believe he’s just lying?golfaddick said:

Not had the best of luck with owners have we?boggzy said:Just had a peep on the Spanners forum.
Someone posted this. When it's laid out like this, it is absolutely fucking unbelievable really....
They are with Owners like Watford are with Managers
Belgium owner having them as a Feeder club to 2nd Division Belgium teams, sold the club for £1 (the buyers were robbed) without the Stadium and Training Ground
Range Rover and Expensive Flat freeloading Owners complete with a Fake Sheikh, lasted a few months, robbed the club blind and piled up debt.
American Danish Guitar playing Stoat fucking Medical equipment fraudster, now in the pokey in America
Now some yanks who bought a League One club, sold the 5 year plan, but looking to flip the club at first opportunity now in the Championship
And all since 2020
It's actually a miracle that we've never gone into administration.
In their defence though, the current owners have not been bad at all. Under their ownership (3 years) we've got out of league one and survived the first season in the championship. There are many clubs with good owners that haven't done that.
Plus last summer we spent (wasted) about 11m on transfers and then spent another 1.5m in January for Sichenje.5 -
You do know they don’t actually have £5b right?queensland_addick said:As usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The club hasn't denied that it's up for sale, but then every club is likely up for sale, at the right price!

Their assets and investments could be worth that much at any given time if they liquidated everything. They could also be worth a lot less if the market turned on them.
Very few people in the world are cash billionaires.3 -
Why can't we find some proper billionaires?Rothko said:Yep, Friedman runs the fund, it’s not all his cash, he’s wealthy, but he’s managing a lot of wealth. Berner wealth is around $600m from what I’ve seen, he’s always seemed closer to the club on a day to day basis.7 -

The current owners do not seem to want to put more money in and I can’t see how the club is worth that much when it has a relatively low value squad, no ground ownership and no other physical assets.
The club is also losing money like most EFL clubs.
Cant see how they will sell, unless at a real low price, especially if we have a bad season and NJ loses interest.Other than a lot of hope value, how much is our club really worth?1 -
