He turned out to be a very decent, although limited,  target man - better  than I thought when we signed him and definitely better than Leaburn in the air  - he’ll be cover for coburn and vice versa I’d say - he would have been a useful addition but our needs are greater elsewhere - I’m pleased they’ve signed him tbh - a sensible signing but not going to improve the way they play in the slightest - aimed at grinding out more wins in a 1 up top system
Yeah. Not over the moon with this signing tbh. He doesn’t offer anything that we haven’t already got. I’d have rather we kept Langstaff. Not a prolific goal scorer at this level either but at least he offered something different. Happy to be proven wrong though.

The amount of bedwetting over this is unreal - he scored 6 goals in 66, in the last 3 seasons, as a striker, with one of them being in L1.  No amount of dressing that up can convince me he is a good player for the Championship.

Signing for Millwall hasn’t helped his international prospects - dropped from Scotland squad by the new manager.

Mcburnie is Premier League now, say no more.

100% nailed on to score against us, and he probably won't score another goal until we play them.

Now he's literally in the best form he's ever been in at any club in his whole career. Either he's somehow become a much better player between last season and this OR he's hit a run of outlandishly good form that is in no way typical or indicative of his normal quality.

I know which one seems likelier to me.

Or he's getting better service this season.

Question isn’t how good is Dykes elsewhere it’s if he came into the team would he offer us more than what we have currently and personally not a chance with how Leaburn is playing.

I think it's more likely he's getting better/more chances so far this season and due to the fact Millwall have had injuries, he's benefitting from more playing time than he did at Birmingham and probably QPR too.

The point is though that fundamentally he is a decent championship striker when given the opportunity to show it

Getting rewarded for his hard work. The fella ran his nuts off for us last season. Maybe he's also started attacking crosses a bit more. That was definitely a reason behind his low goal tally....he liked to hang back to the edge of the area quite a bit.

At this moment in time I’d rather him coming on as a sub for us than Mbick.

Maybe but we’ve rejected 7M for Mbick when the is available feel like we’re going to have to use him
  • McBurnie didn’t get in the Scotland squad when he was scoring in the Championship.

Dykes doesn’t get in the Scotland squad now he’s scoring in the Championship.

Both Dykes and McBurnie got in the Scotland squad when not scoring.

You can’t accuse Scotland of inconsistency.
  • Played well today and got an assist from his long throw!

I think that is a pretty accurate assessment.
