I know it’s Cheltenham but good to see we’ve completely taken the sting out of the game.

With a week to recover, maybe completing the 90+ will give Chalobah added confidence.

Mannion there, showing off that flawless aerial dominance that makes people think he should somehow be a Championship number one

I don't think I've heard anyone say that. A lot (myself included) just say they'd rather have him start than Kaminski, as he's better (a very low bar, I know).

I still stand by that despite that goal, (and christ knows why he just punched that ball away).

But the number of times Kaminski does ridiculous things (or more importantly *doesn't* do anything), is insane.
The thing is though this is based on perception, not reality. Kaminski had a pretty poor season last year and his goals prevented score was far too low but he actually is only down as having 2 errors leading to goals. That doesn't record things like him just not doing well enough like for the Portsmouth away goal but this idea that Kaminski makes loads of errors costing us goals just isn't true; Mannion had the same number of errors leading to goals recorded last season despite only playing 9 games to Kaminski's 37. And one of Mannion's errors was 3 errors in one. And now, first game of the season Mannion has cost us a goal. Kaminski needs to improve massively on his showing last season but the idea that Will Mannion, acceptable L1 keeper, is genuinely better than Kaminski is laughable. If we can't get any improvement out of Kaminski then we need to look to the market but Mannion is a far weaker keeper
It's not all about errors leading to goals though. I didn't 'perceive' all those times he's stood wooden - I saw them. I didn't 'perceive' the number of times he pushed the ball straight into the six yard box/danger zone rather than getting rid - I saw them. And I certainly didn't perceive how much more confident the defence looked when the came back into the side.

That's the thing, a keeper like Kaminski doesn't inspire any confidence in the defence, and if they get shaky, then the confidence thing seeps into the midfield, and we become even worse at stringing passes together to get back up the pitch. Which can obviously affect the score/outcome.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
As I said, errors leading to goals doesn't cover it all but the reality is that Mannion managed in 9 games to be proportionally more of a liability than Kaminski was across the season. Mannion had one very strong game against Watford but other than that he was at best ok and then after his first error became incredibly shaky. The whole idea of the defence being more confident with Mannion there is a myth I'm afraid. His own confidence drops after an error and we've seen today that he gets shaky after mistakes and has repeatedly put us in danger today with some poor clearances, including a punch that Kaminski would have been ashamed of from a corner. Against a L2 side. Kaminski has to do better this season, no doubt, but he is capable of doing that; he's a player who did well in the Premier League and has a Belgium cap. The ability is there and we need Jones to find a way to bring it out of him more. Mannion is a Playoff level L1 keeper if the defence in front of him is good. The ceilings between the two players are wildly different and I'd much rather play Kaminski and hope he can rediscover his form than play Mannion and hope he magically becomes a different player

Mannion probably secured his place on the bench today, thought we've largely looked relatively tidy & much more attacking intent than I can ever remember us showing under Jones in the first half, excited to see us against stronger opponents now

Job done and some nicely taken goals with Grant and TC looking lively.  Caveat that it’s league two opposition but you can only beat what’s in front of you

be interested to see how close this is to the line up next week.

Mannion and Kaminski nailed on starters given the respective injuries to Kaminski and Ramsay

Jones and Koumetio as the CB pairing and I expect Jones might stick with Bell at left back.

I’m thinking Doc & Cov start in the middle, and the three behind the forward will be the same.

Godden up top again I think

FT 1-3, great first half, not so good second...on to Derby next week, Chalobah was immense
