Summer Window 2026 - Rumours and Discussion

Agreed, whilst Doherty has limitations at the moment he could still play a role within the squad. At the same time, I cannot fathom why on earth JRC was brought in last summer.se9addick said:
JRC should have been jettisoned this summer.TeeC said:He’s a good guy but if you want to play this different style he has to go. That doesn’t apply to Cov or JRC who are both much better footballers. The biggest failing this window hasn’t so much been who has come in (though that hasn’t been enough). The biggest issue has been not getting rid of enough dead wood, also a big part of “player trading” as that would have created the headroom for more ambitious incomings.1 -
All well and good saying to keep Docherty over JRC which I would agree with but squad places are limited and unless anyone comes in for JRC then we'd likely have to sacrifice Docherty. Other point to note is Docherty is also entering the final 12 months of his contract, an ideal time to cash in if we were ever going to do so?robinofottershaw said:

The hatred towards Kaminski is so over the top but given he’s one of our highest earners, if we had a sensible replacement lined up then go for it. Personally don’t think Mannion is ready to be a championship number one15

I feel it’s absolutely justified. He cost us a lot of goals last season.follett said:The hatred towards Kaminski is so over the top but given he’s one of our highest earners, if we had a sensible replacement lined up then go for it. TK is shocking, we need better. The rumoured £20k a week is scandalous.4
-
It must be no1 in the keeper training manual
1. Don't push the ball out back where it came from. Kaminsky obviously never read it.2 -
Is he shocking though?robroy said:TK is shocking, we need better. The rumoured £20k a week is scandalous.I can think of a number of times last year he made absolute worldy saves to keep us in games.
he’s limited but shocking is a bit OTT I think23 -
He also saved us on countless occasions too and was part of many of the early season clean sheets. Would be interesting reading though if there's any stats out there how he compared against other keepers last season, points saved, points lost etccafc_se7 said:

And if you're in the firing line all game for 90 mins as was the case when we had that horrible run November - January then sooner or later mistakes will happen. I doubt any keeper would have done much better last season the way teams were running through us game after game in this period.0 -
Since hearing Wrexham didn’t want him I did think he might be someone we’d go in for and someone interested in moving back to London. Played at the valley in the summer tooButtleJR said:Has Okonkwo moved yet? He was great against us last season.0 -

Kaminski isn’t TERRIBLE, he just has some faults. Imagine we panic and the best we can get in is another of Lillian Thurman’s cousins…wmcf123 said:
I think that applies to the slightly dodgy but ok 3* hotel in Benidorm, not to really terrible goalkeepersbanknote0 said:
Vitek has already gone Boro. I wouldn’t like to lose Kaminski this late in the window unless we have an amazing replacement lined up. Sometimes it’s better the devil you know.Jac_52 said:Scoham said:Got to have a replacement lined up before we let him go, can’t be in the same situation as 2 years ago when we were looking for a GK all summer and kept missing out on targets.
If it happens late in the window we might be able to pick up someone decent on loan like Vitek who was on loan at Bristol last year from man U then gives us some time to get a full time replacement in down the road.Thuram could not even catch a cold.I still have nightmares of the goal he conceded up at Middlesbrough.2 -

Could also be that the link to Sparta is a load of old cobblers.2

Bring back Yohann1

I don’t think TK is shocking - I think he’s a good keeper but with 1 significant weakness - he’s not commanding in the air and gives his centre backs very little support in that respect - all the time Lloyd Jones is on the pitch that isn’t such an issue0

I hope it’s true but there’s no way we’d let him go without a replacement. Would we ?Crispywood said:
This window can’t get better can it…2 -
Kaminski and Mannion are both as bad as each other for errors so if a club wants to take Kaminski off our hands then crack on. I fear the worse if those 2 are in goal throughout this season.

Going to chuck it out there because despite interest he’s not gone anywhere yet. Was told we were in for Ipswich keeper van Oevelen on loan. Just signed for them after a season in the erevidisie and been linked with a loan out to the championship. Would imagine it will only happen if we can get rid of Kaminski15

Could well be. Him not involved yesterday and then this makes it plausible at least.ShootersHillGuru said:Could also be that the link to Sparta is a load of old cobblers.0 -

He wasn't that great at stopping shots last year though either1 -
Northampton keeper linked?ShootersHillGuru said:Could also be that the link to Sparta is a load of old cobblers.7 -
Kaminski didn't throw the ball in the back of his own net, like Mannion did v Bristol City.shirty5 said:Kaminski and Mannion are both as bad as each other for errors so if a club wants to take Kaminski off our hands then crack on. I fear the worse if those 2 are in goal throughout this season.0 -

That’s just not true. He made errors like all keepers but he was a good shot stopper.Jac_52 said:DOUCHER said:I don’t think TK is shocking - I think he’s a good keeper but with 1 significant weakness - he’s not commanding in the air and gives his centre backs very little support in that respect - all the time Lloyd Jones is on the pitch that isn’t such an issue

Not sure this is a goer anymore with an injury to Walton and Palmer possibly going to Wrexham0 -
It’s indisputable that if Kaminski goes then we need a new number one, Mannion isn’t up to it. Whether an inexperienced 22 is the answer I’m not sure.5
-
I would think (hypothetically) we have our "main" targets that need to be addressed and actively pursue (CM and RW positions) but there will also be a "wish list" of things we would like to do but are secondary or reliant on other things happening - if we can find someone to take Kaminski or Mannion, we have targets in mind, if we manage to shift JRC then maybe we look for a loan to cover etc.NabySarr said:Going to chuck it out there because despite interest he’s not gone anywhere yet. Kaminski stuff makes sense, it’s unlikely that he would’ve started the cup game but you’d expect him to at least be with the squad.0
-
Kaminski is a slightly below average championship keeper. Does not command his box and has some mental errors but a decent shot stopper. He is fine if you want be above relegation zone but not good enough if you want to be top half of the table. Mannion is a league one keeper -full stop. Fine with Kaminski moving on if a decent replacement lined up by it is a little risky moving him on this late in the window1
-
And if he does stop them, too often he knocks it straight back into the danger zone, so they can have another go.Jac_52 said:DOUCHER said:I don’t think TK is shocking - I think he’s a good keeper but with 1 significant weakness - he’s not commanding in the air and gives his centre backs very little support in that respect - all the time Lloyd Jones is on the pitch that isn’t such an issue

Moving on the first choice keeper you bought only 12 months ago is certainly ruthless, if true.
I don't think either of our keepers are top notch and successful teams, bar maybe Brazil '70, have top notch keepers.
Might be an interesting last few weeks of the window.4 -
Shocking may have been a tad harsh, he did make some poor mistakes last season.TheHerminator said:
