JRC should have been jettisoned this summer. 

The biggest failing this window hasn’t so much been who has come in (though that hasn’t been enough). The biggest issue has been not getting rid of enough dead wood, also a big part of “player trading” as that would have created the headroom for more ambitious incomings. 

Agreed, whilst Doherty has limitations at the moment he could still play a role within the squad. At the same time, I cannot fathom why on earth JRC was brought in last summer.

All well and good saying to keep Docherty over JRC which I would agree with but squad places are limited and unless anyone comes in for JRC then we'd likely have to sacrifice Docherty. Other point to note is Docherty is also entering the final 12 months of his contract, an ideal time to cash in if we were ever going to do so?

I feel it’s absolutely justified. He cost us a lot of goals last season.

He also saved us on countless occasions too and was part of many of the early season clean sheets. Would be interesting reading though if there's any stats out there how he compared against other keepers last season, points saved, points lost etc

And if you're in the firing line all game for 90 mins as was the case when we had that horrible run November - January then sooner or later mistakes will happen. I doubt any keeper would have done much better last season the way teams were running through us game after game in this period.

Vitek has already gone Boro. I wouldn’t like to lose Kaminski this late in the window unless we have an amazing replacement lined up. Sometimes it’s better the devil you know.

I think that applies to the slightly dodgy but ok 3* hotel in Benidorm, not to really terrible goalkeepers 

Kaminski isn’t TERRIBLE, he just has some faults. Imagine we panic and the best we can get in is another of Lillian Thurman’s cousins…

I would think (hypothetically) we have our "main" targets that need to be addressed and actively pursue (CM and RW positions) but there will also be a "wish list" of things we would like to do but are secondary or reliant on other things happening - if we can find someone to take Kaminski or Mannion, we have targets in mind, if we manage to shift JRC then maybe we look for a loan to cover etc.

Kaminski stuff makes sense, it’s unlikely that he would’ve started the cup game but you’d expect him to at least be with the squad.

He wasn't that great at stopping shots last year though either

And if he does stop them, too often he knocks it straight back into the danger zone, so they can have another go.

I can think of a number of times last year he made absolute worldy saves to keep us in games.

he’s limited but shocking is a bit OTT I think 

Shocking may have been a tad harsh, he did make some poor mistakes last season.
