It’s because we don’t own the ground . Simple as that.ct_addick said:Looking at the money being plowed into Wrexham, Preston and Bristol City etc….why not us….we are London based and have a prem standard stadium….I just can’t get my head around it……FFS Wrexham is a shithole…..20 -
@gringo <trump hands>Listen, I've been hearing its a fantastic club, thats not what I've said, it's just what people have been telling me. Anyway, we're gonna build a beautiful project here, it's going to be great, and we're going to make Palace and Millwall pay!</trump hands>2

Because no sane person buys a club who are financially worse off and performing worse for 2x 3x even 4x the costs it takes to buy another clubct_addick said:Looking at the money being plowed into Wrexham, Preston and Bristol City etc….why not us….we are London based and have a prem standard stadium….I just can’t get my head around it……FFS Wrexham is a shithole…..0 -

I think the person that shared it follows fury as well, rather than fury following Charlton. Maybe AJ Fury will be at the valley😂J BLOCK said:2 -
It’s mad, I actually thought the timing was perhaps a bit too coincidental, us being up for sale/looking for investment via a new broker and then Turki pulls out of Derby. Could just be a coincidence but a cheap London option close to the O2 may be a pull because of his boxing.
He also seems like he ‘does what he wants how he wants’ - would just be entertaining if he was interested to see how he deals with Roland the Rat 😂0 -
He "does what he wants" includes sexual assult and locking up critics.SheikhYurKory said:It’s mad, I actually thought the timing was perhaps a bit too coincidental, us being up for sale/looking for investment via a new broker and then Turki pulls out of Derby. A huge NO
It would be a huge No from me as well - but regrettably if he passed the ODT there is very little we could do if GFP were made an offer they couldn't refuse.4 -
Yeah, I'm not happy about that potential link. Hopefully it's nothing.2

The IFR and EFL approved him last week regarding Derby. The time taken and decision only coming through so close to the start of the season was his excuse for pulling out of the deal.0
-
Say he was looking to invest or purchase us. Having already been approved by the efl would mean a fairly quick movement would it not?
Or would he have to go through all the tests again0 -
Cawley and Mendez better watch out if he comes in, and avoid any consulate buildings like the plague7

Further to my previous comment, I’ve been assured that Oakwell do actually have good football credentials despite that not really being highlighted on their own website & case studies. Now we have to wait & see whether anything actually happens with this investment call.TelMc32 said:The idea of using these agencies is that they should have potential investors lined up already. Clients who are looking to make investments, but need some formal guidance on where the opportunities are. It’s why I’m a little surprised at the choice of this current agency as they seem to have little exposure to football and the main one I can see (777) was a disaster.2 -

I've heard Turki is bringing his investment group, Zabeel, with him.
Exciting times.16 -
Turki is worth around £2 billion so is massively wealthy in his own right but as part of his role within the government he directs state funds into sports wherever he wants it seems. Problem being is that he’s not a particularly nice individual. In fact he’s nasty. No from me.6

A no from me too.
Some things are worth more than money.8 -
I’d happily take the investment if he’s willing to just spend the money but doesnt get involved with the running of the club0

I wonder with Amanda Staveley failing to get a deal for West Ham done being confirmed today, if she might move on to look at us?0

I spoke for an hour today to the person responsible for bringing the group to the table evaluating Leicester City.
Current owners looking for £100m. In league one!!! Most of that being placed against the real estate and training ground / facilities in particular.
I said to them they would be better off buying the (large) percentage of Charlton that is up for grabs for less than that not to mention being able to buy the ground back as well.

Issue we have is that the biggest shareholder is looking to sell up. But who is gonna want to buy that and not own the whole lot.
The person who wants out owns the biggest stake and also has the most wealth in terms of stumping up the cash to keep us ticking over….
If someone is replacing him, the others trying to hang on will turn into a problem that roadblocks us being looked at by investors14 -
Damo that's really really interesting to know that it's Friedman that's looking to sell his stake. Does complicate things with the ownership structure for any potential investors.9
