Can't the club just have a training day for Bar staff? it wouldn't take long to teach them the basics, pouring a pint, changing a barrel, changing gas, using the EPOS; it would help keep things moving. I'll come and do it myself if the club want to cover my travel costs.
I suspect the issue is that a lot of the staff won't be working every week and the agency they're hired from should be doing the training
Either the agency advertise for staff with previous experience, or train them themselves, or if the club know? they are getting untrained staff they should be doing it as they recruit them.

Not to be further negative, but the 1905 lounge experience, lovely staff, friendly club workers but I couldn't help but notice even the little things. In the toilets most sets of taps, terrible water pressure, some didn't work, toilet cubicle doors both no lock, soap dispenser hanging off the wall.

Like this is the premium experience and it didn't feel very premium to me.

I don't eat meat or dairy or eggs, (cue the vegan jokes) but quite literally no options. The gravy meat based, some of the veg I couldn't have. There is next to no consideration for those with dietary requirements. Fair play the tea and coffee setup was good, I'll give them that.

I still think we have a bit of League 1-ness about us. We get away with it cause we are a historic club, with a good fan base, away fans love a London day out and we have a lovely stadium with very decent transport links, but we are well outdated.

    - some bar staff are well undertrained, seem nice, but inefficient

    - toilets are God awful, you expect way better from a club like Charlton

    - the food is completely overpriced and not exactly nice

The list goes on. Again, luckily for me, I don't really eat or drink at Charlton for these reasons, but if I was a neutral, I'd be looking to visit other grounds truthfully.

Matchday catering improvements introduced | Charlton Athletic Football Club

From 12 months ago, and once again here we are.

Our supporters are at the heart of everything we do at Charlton Athletic, and we've been listening carefully to your feedback about matchday catering services.

Working closely with our catering partner, we're introducing several important improvements that will be in place for Saturday's clash with Leicester City (KO 12.30pm BST).

    What's changing for our supporters:

    • Faster service: Beers will be pre-poured before kick-off and at half-time, with dedicated staff keeping stocks topped up
    • More helping hands: Additional staff across all kiosks and bars to serve you quicker
    • Better trained team: Enhanced training and new incentive schemes to ensure our catering staff deliver the best possible service
    • Improved facilities: Extra pouring equipment installed to speed things up
    • More choice, more locations: Additional kiosks and beer carts operating around The Valley and in the Fan Zone
    • Fan favourites return: We've brought back Larry's Mobile Bar and Perkalicious Coffee in the Fans' Bar by popular demand

Saturday will be the first game with these changes in place. We're determined to deliver a great matchday experience, and while we ask for your patience as these changes settle in, we're confident you'll notice the difference - and there's more to come throughout the season.

Your voice matters to us, and we'll continue working hard to enhance your day at The Valley. Please keep the feedback coming at fans@cafc.co.uk - we're always listening.

They took then off to fix the ones in AC Stand.

I recall Gavin Carter saying last season was "Last, last, last chance" for G&G, so surely this is the final straw.

I queued up before the match for a pint at Peroni fast bar. The guy in front was handed his plastic cup , 2/3 peroni and 1/3 froth. I walked off and didn't bother.

We lined up at 11.30 for it to open at 12 was a slight delay due to previous occupants leaving it in a mess.Who hires it out on a match day seems bit silly to me

And they couldn’t even manage that. Maybe they are still in transit. I’ve emailed Jon Blythe about it so maybe anyone else with maintenance issues could do the same.

There you go then, all sounds quite reasonable.  We just have to be patient to wait for all the new good stuff to bed in.

    I mean, it's only been a year.

Is there anybody working at the club that is essentially in charge of everything at Charlton not football related?
If there are fans liaison people, who do they liaise with?

I wonder who deals with thise matchday questionnaires we're asked to complete ...

Are they collated, their responses logged & passed to a Senior Manager to evaluate/report onwards & upwards ?

Or are they just a tick box exercise & destined to go straight into the nearest bin ?

12pm: SLO desk in Valley Central open

Hopefully all concerned can pay the SLO a visit.  It would be very interesting on what they have to say.
If this is a permanent thing then you know where to go if you do not receive satisfactory feedback and results.

Yes, I make you right, I seem to recall that.
They'll have to do a 'little' bit of overtime.

On this topic, I did complete one but was annoyed that it demanded a rating for things I hadn't gone near, eg fanzone. I just gave those things half marks but it should be better designed to permit questions to be skipped

    Ditto.

I added something about that on my form today but I'm certain this has been pointed out before ....

    No lessons learned though.

The go to contact address is fans@cafc.co.uk. There is now a “get in touch” page on the website with departmental email contacts so there is some progress on signposting.

Last year it was Gavin Carter and Ed Warrick who took on board and swiftly acted upon the feedback post the Watford match. Gavin is still there of course but I don’t see Tony Brown getting stuck in to this. It does highlight the gap with no CEO again.

CAST has written to the club today re the multiple issues on Saturday and received an acknowledgment that the club is collating the concerns from emails and the match day surveys. In our email to the club we urged them to communicate quickly about this and to act on it as they did last year. Back then it was a bit more understandable as we were coping with the sudden step up in crowds from promotion. They - and their suppliers - don’t have that to fall back on this season. It was just really poor and disappointing. Thank goodness we won!

I presume you mean Tony Brown [Interim Chief Financial Officer].

If you bought food in the fans bar on Saturday, look at your bank statement, payment went to this company.

I would normally go in the West Upper or Lower.
All too often there would be refreshment kiosks closed.  Consequently there are too many people waiting to be served and as a result they either miss the start of the second half, or on many occasions probably cannot be bothered to wait.
As a result you are left with unhappy supporters.

Don't remember Compass being on my bank statement before, or have they just changed where payments are going to I wonder

I've just emailed in my before the game/half time experience on Saturday, quite frankly an unmitigated disaster.

The result/performance did save the day though.
