Also reckon if we get JRS, there is a very good chance TC signs a new deal7
-
With all the noise coming out I’m pretty sure TC has already signed a new deal.33
-
I feel TC has already signed a new deal, no mention of it by Cawley but a lot of noise pointing in that direction! JRS would be a game changer and I hope the owners go for it and get him in. Even if it’s a couple mill plus add ons that equate to £5m, which is what I’d expect us to be negotiating.8
-
It all depends on the structure of each deal. If the initial Peterborough deal includes a sell-on which stipulates a percentage of any future Brentford profit and Brentford negotiate the same clause with Saudi, then both clubs would benefit from a Saudi sale to Newcastle.Covered_End_Lad said:
Yes because Peterborough sold him to Brentford who then sold him to Saudi, that’s the literal definition of a sell on clause. If Saudi then sold him to Newcastle, Peterborough wouldn’t get another sell on fee which is what we are talking about here.DubaiCAFC said:
Happens all the time. When Toney went to Saudi - Peterborough got a nice pay out.Crispywood said:
I’ve never heard of a situation in football where sell on’s stay active past the club you’ve sold the player to I very much doubt this is the case.DubaiCAFC said:Don’t know how true but heard we did a deal on Konsa transfer we would get a percentage on transfers moving forward, hence the cheapness of the deal at the time. As I said don’t know how true that is. This is a few years old, when we selling our clauses on.The caveat being that each sale has to be higher than the one before to trigger the profit clause.2 -
JRS has stayed close to a number of our players, especially TC, he attended the last playoff final as a fan. He likes the club and those involved with it, he sounds like a sensible family lad and so may see us as a permanent home.22
-
He was on holiday with Ramsey too over the summer11
-
£4M - £5M for JRS with 10 months left on his contract feels like too much. Think it may just be the going rate for the level we are now playing at though.5
-
People were saying no less than 3 mill for TC in the same situation.se9addick said:£4M - £5M for JRS with 10 months left on his contract feels like too much. Think it may just be the going rate for the level we are now playing at though. If TC is worth 3 JRS is worth 5
In this modern football economy that’s a bargain15 -
He did well at Sheffield United - a quick Google shows their fans would largely have been very keen to sign him permanently, but Palace were after about £10-12m at the time so it wa a no go.Doomer Jon said:Seriously wonder what I am reading here sometimes 😃
JRS is overrated. He only looked good (nowhere near great) because we had an abysmal team and it was League 1.
His record overall is not great.
24/25 Sheff Utd: 7 goals from 34 games
25 /26 Obscure Turkish team: 4 goals from 11 games
26: Stoke: 2 goals from 15 games
This is not landmark stuff and certainly the stuff of dreams to think worth £4-5 million.
Especially when we have Godden, Leaburn, TC, Grant, Kelman and MBick.
Money, if we have any, should be spent elsewhere.3 -

JRS and AO in goal, I can see us being a mid table team.
That’s great progress from last season17 -
I’m definitely in the if there is a way we can sign JRS then it is a no brainer. Him and TC out wide there won’t be many clubs not worried about that threat6
-
The reason TC is worth £3m or so to us is because of the value of his contributions to the team, not just his talent. JRS will make 0 contributions to Palace this season whatever happens and that’s why £5m feels a little highAberystwythAddick said:

I’m probably bias as I loved JRS first time around and been wanting him back ever since but a combination of our upward trajectory and his slightly downward has made it even remotely possible.I think say £4m + add ons with sell on gets him and that would be an absolute steal imo, need to invest to create sellable assets. We spent more than the quoted £5m on Apter, Olaofe, Knibbs, Kaminski and Burke combined, none of whom
make our squad right now.So this would be much better money spent, quality over quantity.. and the type of signing that does push us to the next level. It is less than Portsmouth spent on a non goal scoring second division Spanish striker…
I don’t think we will get him but it shouldn’t be due to not stumping up the requisite fee, in my opinion! BRING HIM HOME!2 -
It seems we want him and I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to come. 5 million is big money for us but that's less than half they wanted last year. If we can do a deal instalments of dry powder or whatever I could see him taking us with TC to the next level in our progression. Sometimes with a player or manager there's a real fit with a club and in my opinion we are the best fit for him.4
-
Would be brilliant if we could get JRS.
I also feel like if we do then this could be our first real step into the player trading model that is required now to progress - if we sign JRS and tie TC down on a good, long contract then there’s every chance they both flourish and are worth big money in 18 months - 2 years.4 -

Has JRS played in goal before?CafcSCP said:JRS and AO in goal, I can see us being a mid table team.

Or a more realistic assessment would be that we need a right winger. Who else is available at his standard who we could afford? 10 goals and 2 assists across what was games-wise just over one Championship season but minutes-wise was closer to half is an excellent return. What we wouldn't give for that goal return from a winger for us. So where is this elsewhere that the money should be spent to fill that gap we have at RW?Doomer Jon said:Seriously wonder what I am reading here sometimes 😃

Yep. Would be impossible for defences to double up on either of them and we will also have central midfielders who can carryAndyG said:I’m definitely in the if there is a way we can sign JRS then it is a no brainer. Him and TC out wide there won’t be many clubs not worried about that threat2 -

We've been selling players since 19225 -
We also have the prospect, if Lloyd Jones gets a knock, of
Okonkwo
Ramsay Sichenje Koumetio Bell
Ouma Chalobah
JRS Grant Campbell
Leaburn
...which, besides making history, would make a certain kind of fan very uncomfortable

Yup but mostly too early ! Other clubs have made the real money on selling them after we sold them cheapHenry Irving said:

One thing I was very surprised about hearing from Cawley was that Palace were also willing to let Justin Devenny go to meet the spending requirements. I thought he was very highly rated there and he's already played 44 PL games aged 22 so they must really be struggling. I had also heard Everton were interested in signing Munoz for around £20m, though I think they're going through other targets first, so a big sale could suddenly ease the pressure on the fee for JRS which could work in our favour.3

JRS is in his last year of contract with ten days left of this window and only January to come. If he’s, as being suggested here worth £5 million at this point then it suggests to me that his real value is somewhat higher. Possibly £6 - 7 million. To me that’s a nonsense. He’s worth nowhere near £6 million let alone 7. For me given his contract status he’s worth near than £3 - 4 million tops. He’s still a lot to prove.0

All best mates. From JRS insta:cfgs said:JRS has stayed close to a number of our players, especially TC, he attended the last playoff final as a fan. He likes the club and those involved with it, he sounds like a sensible family lad and so may see us as a permanent home.

The prodigal son will return home (for £4m) and fire us to playoffs. You heard it here first3

Problem is palace want to sell him not loan him at this time … with a asking price 5 to 8 mill so unless we can put together an offer based over the 3/4 year contract plus a massive sell on deal I think we are going to have to wait .. and hope palace decide to cut their losses and accept a loan deal with a lower loan fee … As RC says the indications he getting from Palace is this one may run and run till the last few days of the window3
