Charlton fans think they will get JRS back however I doubt they could afford the fee so loan would be their only option. I doubt that will happen unless we can't sell him. I suspect the same with Esse.

It's that time of the window where selling clubs have to decide whether to drop their price, ship out on loan or just stick with him in the hope that they will improve.
I showed this post to a mate of mine who is a season ticket holder at Palace. His response was as follows :

“Can Charlton afford £5m with add-ons? Esse would be £10m with add-ons“

I can’t see us spending £5m on any player so if he does join us I suspect it’s another loan deal.
It’s already been confirmed that they are looking at a 5 mill total which would include add ons. How that deal is structured who knows but there are ways to make that work for both clubs

£5m would keep us below the rumoured budget of c£10m based on the best guesses of fees paid wouldn’t it?

Would Palace prefer to get say £3m now rather than lose him for nothing next summer? He'll be 24 later this year so they wouldn't even get compensation.

Rich Cawley mentioned on his pod that Palace need to sell some players due to the UEFA financial fair play rules given they're playing European football this season.
They have sold Lacroix, so therefore they are within the rules plus Eze, Guehi last season

Does anyone remember the times where a relatively significant amount of lifers were saying we should send JRS back during the January transfer window when he was experiencing a dip in form?
Yes... For 70% of his time here, so many people were saying he had no end product and was brainless. And that was while he was 2nd top scoring winger in the league. It was infuriating at the time so I suppose we should be happy now.

He was definitely a slow starter. By the end of his time here he was great.

Being in NZ, i have no chance of ever being ITK but it is of some comfort to have a panoramic view from my office window of commuter trains, freight trains, and the occasional steam train. From the same window i can see a couple of passenger ferries. And an assortment of buses regularly rumble past.

I don't mean to brag but look at the girth of those railway sidings in the background. (for the nature lovers there is a few rabbits living in among the greenery on the bank)

If Millwall or Palace fans ever get ahold of this, we’re finished.

I've got you @ElliotCAFC . Note the Cargo ship (possibly livestock ferry) that has just arrived and at the far right ...Cranes!

is that a narrow gague railway?

    Mesik £500K
    Big Billy £500K
    Alli £1M

    Grant, Mcnammara, Chalobah free agents

    Okonkwo and Ouma on loan.

So £2M spent so far plus loan and signing on fees.

Some recouped by Anderson, Gilly, Mitchell, and Ezenwata with more to come from Kanu, Assimwe and maybe Doc and Kaminski.

Soz Yes I would think £5M comes in under last summer... Maybe even leaves a couple of mil for someone else.

Wages will be significantly higher than before. Grant will be earning a lot more than Apter, Chalobah more than Anderson etc. That all eats into your budget

Did we only pay £500k for Billy ? If so that will be the best ROI we have ever had

What number is JRS going to wear though? 22? 37? Is it really worth it?
He was shirt number 17 when he was on loan

Shirt number 17 is currently vacant

We don’t even know all that much about our finances or how much we’re willing to spend on a player, so how does a palace fan know? If the rumoured £5m is really what they’re asking for, then I honestly think we’ll pay it, hence why we’ve loaned in Okonkwo and Ouma rather than buying them.

Sending Apter out would be mental. Leaves us in the exact same position we are in now with only one rw
Apter part of the squad this season said NJ and we are looking to add RW to challenge Apter …
What Jones says publicly and what the plan is privately are sometimes two different things.

Plans always been to sell or loan out the 7 who went on loan last season minus Mbick. And WHEN JRS joins, Apter will fall further down the peaking order
    So it's done?

If we sign JRS prepare for my Countdown To Promotion thread. Just a heads up....
Starting the countdown number at 1,743,267 should give you some wiggle room.

from what i can gather having looked at both forums i'd say the JRS medical and deal has been completed tonight - then i'd guess the photoshoot/video in the morning and announcement in the afternoon - possibly with a TC signing announcement as well - happy days

paperwork completed by midday in order to feature on Saturday or do we think it's too soon for JRS to be involved? if all true of course.

too soon i'd say - i'd guess we will unleash the TC / JRS 2 pronged wing attack on preston next week

JRS hasn't had a proper pre season compared to if he was here all summer, I suspect he'll miss the weekend regardless, maybe on the bench for Spurs, we'll see after that.

Problem is you have to play TC off the left JRS off the right (if he signs) but also think Grant you have to find room to fit in so may be converted into Carey’s role which could allow Apter to be cover on the wing instead and Grant being a 10 option could force an additional of JRC or Knibbs out
