The village idiots use the phrase "I've heard" cos it sort of sounds important and is shorter than "I've just read 3 posts up"Henry Irving said:
Charlton is literally a village and Charlton Athletic is like a village, plenty of people know what's going on and we have at least one Mr Idioteastterrace6168 said:It's amazing the amount of people on here who seem to involved within the club in some way, judging by the amount of times I see the words "I've heard" being quoted...🤔4 -
That would be quite a squeeze, odd or otherwise.Gribbo said:Who'd be an owner -

*spends a few £million*
- "They don't do it fast enough"
It's like have 15 odd grown men (not everyone) sitting in the back of the car asking if we're there yet every 5 minutes.1 -
Is Cawley a right winger or does he pull the strings in midfield?😜Bedsaddick said:
Stop Panicking. Cawley has said that he 100% wants to sign for Charlton . It’s just that these things take a little time .DDOUBLEE said:I simply don't want the rug pulled from under us at the last second.
One poster says it's 100% done, then another days oh no, it's not quite done yet. Until it's OTOS I'm terrified someone like Burnley or Wrexham will offer a penny more and the next thing you know, the deal is off. He's such a perfect fit for that right wing slot, I just want it confirmed so we can move on...11 -

Vetokele never recovered from that Achilles injury. He was amazing for 10 games or so.TellyTubby said:
I was also absolutely convinced that we had a top player, he skipped passed opponents so easily.charltonbob said:
Not sure about 4-5 million but looked a very classy player ................ until stoke. That game was televised wasn't it ?995632 said:
I honestly thought Yassin Moutaouakil was going to be a £4-5million pound player going into bigger and better things after his first couple of games. Then he got terminated away at Stoke City and was never the same player again.Garrymanilow said:
You're still a mile off. Just in the not so distant past we've had Yassin Moutaouakil, Lee Cook, Dean Sinclair, Izale McLeod, that version of Andy Gray, Matt Spring, Tresor Kandol, Keith Gillespie, Graeme Murty, Martin Cranie, Tom Soares, Salim Kerkar, Danny Seaborne, Eggert Jonsson, Abdul Razak, Simon Church, Loic Nego, Polish Pete, Reza, Yohann Thuram, Marcus Tudgay, Davide Petrucci, Franck Moussa, Oguchi Onyewu, Christophe Lepoint, George Tucudean, El-Hadji Ba, Christian Ceballos, Bergdich, Vaz Te, McAleny, Makienok, Rhys Williams, Yaya Sanogo, Hemed, Ledley, David Davis, Matt Smith, all at Championship level. And that's not even all the absolute creatures we've had to suffer at this level. JRC hasn't had a lot of opportunities and it doesn't look like he fits in that well with Jones' style but that performance against Coventry alone puts him ahead of the majority of these immediately. There's more to come from JRC, whether or not Jones can fully extract it I don't know, but my God. One of the worst? When Salim Kerkar exists? Behave.
Mind you, I had similar thoughts about Vetokele, so what do I know?
Having said that, Lennie Lawrence thought the same about Andy Jones, so I wont beat myself up too much.
I was in my local bookies(now an estate agents 😤) and despite living in a Palace/Chelsea fans area, one afternoon early in the season but after Brighton and Brentford games when Igor scored, 3 bets went on Igor to be top scorer. My buddy who was manager of Corals said do I want a wager on Vetokele before the price is slashed ?
I said no, I don't want to curse him !2 -
I don't doubt that, it's Palace that worry me!Bedsaddick said:

is it ok if I park in your Garden?🤞FreshHaddock said:I can't believe I've lived so close to the Valley for so long, and not made the decision to throw my lot in with Charlton earlier. It would have been worth it to join this forum for the comedy in this thread alone, the football is just an added bonus!10 -
We’ve still got Ouma, but I think you’re right midfield is still a slight concern. Mainly because I don’t trust Costello that much, so you are relying on Chalobah staying fit, Ouma adapting quickly (and he will probably struggle with the intensity of the schedule so won’t be able to play every game) or Mwamba really stepping up.SouthLincsAddick said:It’s looking like a good window, much better than I expected. The only worry I have is midfield. Chalobah is the class player we need and has proven it in the first couple of games but he’s going to get injured at some point. Who’s next in line and will they be as effective, is this why there’s some talk of Holsgrove coming in?If we could shift Costello and bring in Holsgrove or another midfielder I’d then be very confident about the season2 -

I also think Ouma looks pretty raw. He only actually started 9 games in the Lech Poznań title winning season and he had the disciplinary problems too. NJ must have a plan but this area is not as solid as the rest.NabySarr said:

No, don't know if he's been pulled because of his league form, but looked like a chance for the new signings to show.Oggy Red said:

If certain posters didn’t jump the gun on Rak Sakyi signing there wouldn’t be all the panic and stress. As of yesterday negotiations were still ongoing. We still have to the end of the window for him to sign. I don’t think he is fit enough to start on Saturday anyway.3
-
To be fair, I’d assume he is fit enough to take some part Saturday if needed,if signed, not like he’d need to shed a stone or two, it’s 2026 not 1980.DennisBooth said:If certain posters didn’t jump the gun on Rak Sakyi signing there wouldn’t be all the panic and stress. Takes him a while to remember he's a defender, he gets caught too far up the pitch then can't get back quickly enough.wmcf123 said:

No Alex Mitchell last night? 🤔But that's a discussion for another thread, this is probably really annoying to read here!1 -
Just weird... Not at all frustrating. I like JRS a lot but I'm not squirming on this transfer. It's just a very odd choice of words from NJ given the circumstances.mendonca said:

NJ has very consistently avoided giving specific timelines or updates about players in pretty much any capacity, which honestly is fair enough as these things tend to change quickly, for better or worse.mendonca said:

Him not committing means very little in terms of how close or not anything is (or isn't.)8 -
Watford are selling Louza to Panathinaikos, so potentially could see them also being in for Holsgrove as they will be looking for a replacement0
-
It's not just posters though, at least 3 journalists with pretty decent social media followings have all said a deals been agreed and a medical was being done yesterdayDennisBooth said:If certain posters didn’t jump the gun on Rak Sakyi signing there wouldn’t be all the panic and stress. Based on Jones comments about supply line and not naming Apter probably an indication that he’ll be joining Kaminski Asiimwe Kanu and Docherty in leaving to make up the squad registration numbers7

Yeah because it all depends on the players weight as to when they are match fit . 😂Sword65pf said:
