Would have played the first team and given it a good go. Nothing to lose
Same concept even with this team.

If Grimsby can beat Man United, no reason we can't make a go of it.

MOAN MOAN MOAN MOAN MOAN MOAN.

Good on Jones for not prioritising the league of this shower of shit cup.
  • Jonesy has set us up for a massacre and I'm here for it. 😂

Putting out the B team. I respect it.

Still like the look of the side but slightly surprised to see Koumetio
    Burke must be crocked again
Played for the U21s a couple of days ago.

Club can't win, play the first XI, Leaburn and Bell get crocked, we get spanked 4 nil anyway and you'll all be up in arms about it.
But then we lost Godden to a training ground injury. You can't wrap footballers up in cotton wool 24/7.

About managing risk though - training is a necessity, playing in the League Cup Second Round is not.

If we get relegated - even reaching the quarter finals would be of scant consolation to most fans.

Should've just lost in round 1 then if we don't want to play in it. Pointless and poor attitude.
Clubs rely heavily on leagues financially - that's the way the game is now. The vast majority of managers would do the exact same thing as NJ has done tonight.

Did we do the same against Chelsea?

What’s even the point of putting out such a shit team.

Taken the piss out of our fans

Such a disappointing line up. I feel angry about it.

The build up, anticipation, sold out away end. What an opportunity to showcase how good we can be.

Jones has completely got this wrong.

Pretty sure that Grimsby team played together week in week out - not sure how often this team lines up in training

Completely different as that game was on a weekend, not three days before a league game.

FA Cup different as that slots into a weekend.

Pointless playing in the Cups if we have such a weak starting lineup. Embarrassing....
    Absolutely

You make 10 changes and we put out a pick-up side.
Feel sorry for both sets of fans that made the time and effort to attend.
Anyway, good luck and may the best team on the night win.

Might watch Once Upon A Time In The West instead.
    Enjoy it then pal 👍

I just can’t believe Nathan Jones is the only manager who has made sweeping changes to his team for this fixture. It’s a disgrace and he should be investigated for it.

Grown adults wanting their team to actually have a chance of putting a decent performance on. Sorting ourselves out I guess.

Keep your eye out for Luca Williams-Barnett in the second half. The kid is mustard.

That team has pissed me off a bit
    Why?

The league is more important, squad players need minutes.

Intrigued how Ouma and Mbick do.

Taking it seriously then. Fuck me.

Good luck to those lads and if we win, it probably ought to mean the Spurs manager should resign and not bother with football in future.

I'm gonna take the standpoint of trusting the manager - one of our most successful in recent times - on what minutes certain players can play in order to minimise injury.

Who says we aren't going to put on a decent performance?
  • A great lineup. NJ has done the right thing.

if we’re fresh and win at home to Preston I’d take that all day.

Give the rest of the squad a real chance to impress and get minutes in their legs.

Losing league games so we get a round further in a cup we have zero chance of winning would be nuts.

A disappointing team to put out for the 6k following, and Jones will get criticism should we get a tonking.

However, we have bigger fish to fry.

Who says we aren't going to put on a decent performance?

Who says the first team would've definitely gotten injured?

These are the reserves and don't play in the league for a reason you would assume.

That line up is taking the piss out of our fans. An excellent draw and a reward for our main team to come up and play against a prem team in a fantastic stadium. This has been denied to them for playing well. How many times will they ever get that chance like this again?
We might as well say to the FA that we will not be participating in the league or FA cup next year so if you put us in the draw you might as well give the other team a bye.
…and I was so looking forward to watching this match too!🥸

I kind of expected exactly that lineup except with Burke in place of Koumetio. Naturally it means Koumetio is getting some kind of ludicrous injury tonight. I get it, we give minutes to players who need it like Ouma, Doc, Knibbs, Alli and Sichenje and shop window Asiimwe and Apter. I did wonder if Kanu would at least make the bench as I guessed Jones would want to test Mbick, but the fact he can’t even make this squad tells us that he’s very much in the sell pile. We have a big squad, we’re in very good form in the league and we have a ridiculous injury history. I get it
  • Some of you need to give your heads a wobble. Is it a weaker side yes. But I would rather our first team stayed injury free than win a game in a cup that we’re not going to win anyway.

Now I’m normally fairly doom and gloom (you might have noticed) but this line doesn’t really bother me at all

Preston have rested most of the players from Saturdays loss to Wolves...think the fans have had a meltdown?
  • Actually think the B team is the right call. and I’m here waiting for kick off
  • Just found out it’s live on Portuguese TV, well happy!
Got any specifics on which channel I should look for? TIA
