Our injury record since Jones came in isn’t that bad .Garrymanilow said:I kind of expected exactly that lineup except with Burke in place of Koumetio. Naturally it means Koumetio is getting some kind of ludicrous injury tonight. I get it, we give minutes to players who need it like Ouma, Doc, Knibbs, Alli and Sichenje and shop window Asiimwe and Apter. I did wonder if Kanu would at least make the bench as I guessed Jones would want to test Mbick, but the fact he can’t even make this squad tells us that he’s very much in the sell pile. We have a big squad, we’re in very good form in the league and we have a ridiculous injury history. I get it0 -

Grown adults wanting their team to actually have a chance of putting a decent performance on. Sorting ourselves out I guess.Who says the first team would've definitely gotten injured? These are the reserves and don't play in the league for a reason you would assume.
Brooks - definite reserve
Asiimwe - definite reserve
Sichneje - behind our best player in the pecking order
Koumetio - starter
Mesík - behind one of NJ’s favourites
Ouma - new signing getting fit
Doc - reserve but 39 league appearances last term
Apter - definite reserve
Knibbs - only behind last seasons top scorer
Alli - behind our best attacker, 3 champ moves in 3 seasons
Mbick - £5m bid rejected and coming back from injury
Its not like last years Cambridge game with U21s playing their second game of the day4 -
Enjoy the night ! Result don’t matter. Can’t wait to see Ouma ripping it up1

No he hasn’t got it spot on once the game was switched we had no choiceJobbers said:Such a disappointing line up. I feel angry about it.
The build up, anticipation, sold out away end. What an opportunity to showcase how good we can be.Jones has completely got this wrong.2 -
If we finish 21st at the end of the season, it will be because we have used our squad.Simonsen said:Taking it seriously then. Fuck me.
Good luck to those lads and if we win, it probably ought to mean the Spurs manager should resign and not bother with football in future.Don’t give a flying F**K about Spurs.1 -
AberystwythAddick said:Some of you need to give your heads a wobble. Is it a weaker side yes. But I would rather our first team stayed injury free than win a game in a cup that we’re not going to win anyway. Now I’m normally fairly doom and gloom (you might have noticed) but this line doesn’t really bother me at all
We finally get drawn to play a big side and we play a weak team like that with nearly 6,000 fans there tonight3 -
It’s not even staying injury free, it’s about recovery time and being in the best possible condition for the match against Preston on Saturday.AberystwythAddick said:Some of you need to give your heads a wobble. But I would rather our first team stayed injury free than win a game in a cup that we’re not going to win anyway. Now I’m normally fairly doom and gloom (you might have noticed) but this line doesn’t really bother me at all
It also gives an opportunity for our players who have not played minutes to get more in, in a competitive environment which can keep them sharpe when called upon - which considering how much of a squad game it is these days could make the difference between all important points at some points
Does it guarantee we will beat Preston at the weekend, of course not. But it gives us a much better chance to, especially with them resting 8 players.

Grown adults will always have an opinion about the line up in any game, and especially for those there it is not surprising there is disagreement and upset about setting up for a likely thumping.DDOUBLEE said:Grown adults upset about a lineup in a cup game. Please sort yourselves out

If this is a complete fuck up and we get turned over I want Jones to repay all those that went. and for those like me who will be watching a moody stream of the game i want at least a drink out of it Nathan.6

People are talking like we’ve sent out a team of kids. Mesik and Sichenje are absolutely players pushing to be first team starters and need opportunities. Ouma needs minutes to get up to speed as we’ll need him ready for the league, especially with Chalobah’s injury record. Chalobah isn’t playing two games in a week and Doc isn’t some academy debutant. Many people had Knibbs starting over Carey after preseason, Alli needs to get more minutes and it wouldn’t hurt Apter to get a chance to show something. Mbick is a great prospect, Kelman and Godden are out and Leaburn has had his injury troubles. The only ones in there you’d not fancy in the league are Brooks and Asiimwe and with Ramsay still in a boot and out for weeks we can’t afford to have anything happen to McNamara, especially if Asiimwe is gone by the end of the window. It’s all senior players except for Asiimwe and Mbick really, I think people just aren’t used to us actually having a squad13

We’ll forget about it in 5 games time but as someone with a ticket, it is a bit disappointing.
Even the bench doesn’t scream “we have a chance” if we by some miracle get ahead.
Guarantees loss to Preston at the weekend as well. Bloody hell.

That squad is an audition for the Transfer Window closing... If they do well then Asiimwe / Docherty / Apter... Maybe even Knibbs get some more interest, than what they're currently getting... More disappointed that Mwamba isn't starting, but get it1

It's not far off a team i'd expect us to put out in the Papa john's trophy. Of course we all get why Jones has done it but it's a bit annoying, get a big cup tie and then turn up with that XI.fenaddick said:

Depends. Scores a couple its English. Fails miserably....French.3 -
Sorry but just as I really start to warm to NJ he goes and does this.
Its a shit team and he is taking the piss out of everyone who has paid good money to go tonight.
Imagine if you'd flown down from Scotland and saw Brooks was playing his first ever game
Some changes fair enough but 10 is just taking the piss big time.7 -
Let's just enjoy the game, and cheer the lads on, whoever is representing our club...3
