People seem to forget, AO isn’t our player!
Wrexham may have made it a condition of the loan he couldn't play cup games!0 -
It’s less bad than it had been before but we’ve still had periods without our first choice keepers, injuries to Ramsay, Bell, Jones, Knibbs, Leaburn and more. Edwards and Godden missed most of last season. Bell and Edwards both being out derailed our season last time, we’re still very susceptible to key injuries so resting players and keeping the alternatives fit is hugely importantwmcf123 said:
Our injury record since Jones came in isn’t that bad .Garrymanilow said:I kind of expected exactly that lineup except with Burke in place of Koumetio. Naturally it means Koumetio is getting some kind of ludicrous injury tonight. I get it, we give minutes to players who need it like Ouma, Doc, Knibbs, Alli and Sichenje and shop window Asiimwe and Apter. I did wonder if Kanu would at least make the bench as I guessed Jones would want to test Mbick, but the fact he can’t even make this squad tells us that he’s very much in the sell pile. We have a big squad, we’re in very good form in the league and we have a ridiculous injury history. I get it1 -

Why if it's a season-long loan? There's no point to stop him playing.2 -
I've got meetings starting in 2 minutes so I'm going to have to watch this on a delay. I'm on team "the team Jones picked" because to me, the league is always the priority. Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing more of Mesik, Ouma, Mbick, and Alli. Sad that Mwamba isn't starting but I get that we will probably have Doc as the deepest lying midfielder to give Ouma more freedom to go box-to-box.3

There was always going to be a ton of changes. People should have known that, most probably did and chose to go anyway, support the team put out, see a nice stadium, and have the chance of being at a massive upset should we win.Fortune 82nd Minute said:Sorry but just as I really start to warm to NJ he goes and does this.
Its a shit team and he is taking the piss out of everyone who has paid good money to go tonight.
Imagine if you'd flown down from Scotland and saw Brooks was playing his first ever game
Some changes fair enough but 10 is just taking the piss big time.
Saying Jones is taking the piss out of those going is just daft to me.8 -
Obviously not because he's on the bench, so any injury to Brooks or a red card and Okonkwo will be on.SteveACS said:People seem to forget, AO isn’t our player!

PWR.
In my seat. Lovely looking stadium & great view but I hate these new stadiums. 2 ticket checks & soooo many stairs won't be coming back here again - nearly gave me a heart attack.
Also mugged off over the team. If you ain't going to take it seriously then don't enter..
If we get thrashed tonight & don't win Sat then it will all be for nought
Will see you all on the post match thread.
C'mon on your purples !

here's hoping our team do a job like they did against Middlesborough last season2

Campbell was 43 I believe.Scoham said:
Sky Sports app has Tagoe as number 53 - same number as TC in his debut season.Scoham said:Oh wow. Even Brooks is starting.
Bradley Tagoe on the bench - for those who haven’t seen him, he’s similar to a young TC before he bulked up, but left footed. Has even spent time at wing back.0 -

Grown adults...combing every Charlton highlights package on Youtube...trying to rate every Paul Mortimer goal out of 10...to see if he can beat 7.5/10 overall...sickening...4

NJ put his plums on the table bringing the kids on against West Ham. This time he's covered them in pedigree chum and jumped into a wolfpen.1

15 mins to KO and another beer seems popular…

If Wrexham didn’t want him to play he wouldn’t be on the bench.1
-
Absolutely gutted with that team sheet - I get the “we don’t want injuries” bollox but this is the game we were all singing about last year - and we get this !! Hope the boys prove me wrong3
-
Put out our second team against Tottnum does not mean that we will win promotion 🤓1
-
Never been an unqualified admirer of NJ, but my respect for him has gone up tonight. He has been brave and done the right thing. A team of those who need minutes, plus those in the shop window. Apart from Koumetio, who has drawn the short straw.4

Still frustrated that the Sky app on PS5 doesn't let you watch sky sports + games, utterly ridiculous but hey ho!
Weirdly optimistic with that team as Tottenham really won't want to be put under pressure and that team will run for days1 -
Completely think the opposite in every regard. We’ve made such a good start to the season with players who are only just fit. Why on earth risk them in a pretty meaningless game when we’ve got a real chance to showcase our strengths in less than 72 hours. Makes total sense.Jobbers said:Such a disappointing line up. I feel angry about it.
The build up, anticipation, sold out away end. What an opportunity to showcase how good we can be.Jones has completely got this wrong.3 -
I've never said we should play the same 11, but this is taking it to extremes, with Brookes and Asiimwe starting, and TC not even on the bench. I bet the rested players would have LOVED to be out there tonight, this isn't Cambridge away. Baffled why Jones couldn't play for example, he's fully fit, and centre backs aren't sprinting up and down the pitch. Him at CB, Sichenje at RB, and the defence looks much stronger. Instead we have no leader theresam3110 said:
So if we put out the full team, win but get 2 injuries in key positions and it culminates in a downtown in League form and a relegation, I'm sure we'd all go "hey at least we beat Spurs in August"killerandflash said:
But then we lost Godden to a training ground injury. You can't wrap footballers up in cotton wool 24/7.sam3110 said:Club can't win, play the first XI, Leaburn and Bell get crocked, we get spanked 4 nil anyway and you'll all be up in arms about it.
It's not a popular choice, but playing a rotated squad is the right choice in the bigger picture
Realistically we're not going up, and with our squad shouldn't go down either. It's cup games which give the excitement to an otherwise slog to lower midtable.
And this isn't January after the Christmas schedule, in the rain. The players have played 3 games in nice weather. Muscle injuries can happen in training, as with Godden, but you don't cancel training.3 -
To all those who wanted some of our top players out there today. You’d genuinely have been ok if Jones had played and picked up a knock?
for the sake of trying to get to the carabao cup 3rd round?0 -
Concourse is a joke. A million degrees and all the beer machines not working. Stick your billion pound stadium up your arse.0

It's not a bad stadium is it?0 -
1/ The priority is the league.
2/ Our strongest team probably would lose against Spurs 9 times out of 10.
3/ Makes no sense to risk injury/ suspensions to first teamers.
4/ Opportunity to put some of our surplus players on the stage before the window closes- as we need to trim squad.
5/ We need to give some of our players minutes/ experience.
Cant understand why any one thinks (or expected that) we should play first team, though understand disappointment for those who stumped up good money to watch the reserves. At least Its a nice new stadium to be miserable in.
