I don’t understand starting Koumetio if you’re making that many changes.
I don't know who else he could have started though
  • Next time you decide to play a reserve team ..let me know and I will save my money and time
  • I don’t understand starting Koumetio if you’re making that many changes.
Agree. We know Koumetio has had his fair share of recent injury problems yet he is the only one Jones starts from last Saturday's team.

    Strange to put it mildly.

He wanted to start Burke but Burke got injured on Monday which is of course a surprise to absolutely no one
  • The starting line up tells you all you need to know.

It’s disrespectful to the competition and to those paying for  tickets and tv subscriptions.

It was not a pre season friendly.

No justification at this stage in the season.

Disrespectful to this Mickey Mouse cup! Get a grip. It’s not NJ’s fault he has to prioritise Championship survival over these knockout follies. Blame the EFL and the FA for selling their soul to the PL and sacrificing these glorious competitions. I wish NJ had played even more kids than risk anyone even near the first team squad. It ain’t 1947 anymore!

Looking forward to Jones’ salty comments directed at the fans after we beat Preston at the weekend and he justifies it.

Everyone was cool with us starting our first eleven against Cheltenham but shitting a brick tonight. Injuries happen it's part of the game

I assume he wanted balance with a left footed cb and between him and Bell, he was deemed a smaller risk.

I expect I will be in the minority but think weve approached this one all wrong. Rest some key/injury prone players by all means, but we've made this a totally pointless exercise.
It’s not though. We’ve got minutes into players, who when called upon will be much sharper and fitter for it now.
After one 90 mins? What if they sit on the bench or even out of the squad completely for the next month or so. If I'm Sonny Carey I'm thinking when am I ever going to play at Spurs again. I'll mever understand throwing a game like this
Ultimately I reckon NJ knows more about managing his players than us.
Of course but I reckon the majority of fans wanted us to have a go tonight.
I get that. But take the emotion out of it and it’s just folly to approach a game like this like that. What’s to gain from it long term by playing a stronger 11?

Its why we don’t manage a football team playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
A cup run to generate some money and momentum? Are you saying there's no way we could of fielded a team that was even vaguely competitive?
    Not saying that at all.

We could have fielded our first XI. My view is the chances of us winning with a stronger 11 was still minute.

And with how important conditioning is in competitive football these days I’d rather save players for a game against a team - who also rested 8 off there first team - in what ultimately is a much much more important competition for us.

The small chance at potentially winning a game in a cup we are never going to win, does not outweigh trying to plan and do as well as possible in one of the most competitive and gruelling leagues in the world.

Mesik did start though, just not at centre half.

Yes, odd to play him and not the Championship battle hardened Jones and McNamara, who came on and played 80 minutes anyway.

Wasn't expecting Mbick to play the full 90, considering we are a bit short in the no 9 spot at the moment, but that says a lot about how ineffective Knibbs was. Indeed, I thought Knibbs was worse than Apter.

Mwamba was really good when he came on, he looked a cut above our other midfielders. Asiimwe had a tough night, but having to play on the wrong side against top quality wingers was a massive test, which Edwards or Ramsey would have found difficult.

Lots of teams disrespecting the competition and their fans then.
Two wrongs don’t make a right.

You may be correct but my point stands.

Doubt he even gets injured if he wasn't having to cover for so many around him

Was on the fence about Apter, but now never want to see him play again, out of his depth doesn't even begin to describe him , like a ballboy trying to run off with the ball only to lose control of it.

I guess you'd play McNamara who's probably less of an injury risk.

Who would buy him, considering we paying £m's and we'd want a decent fee.

We all know teams play weakened sides in the cup competitions.  Preston was and is way more important than spurs. Anyone going tonight expecting our best 11 to play needs there head examined.

We fielded our first eleven against Cheltenham as NJ billed it as our last pre season game. It wasn't it was this same trophy but I get his logic he wanted minutes and momentum into his best players. Tonight was too far the other way in my opinion and yes I don't know their condition etc but in my view if you're on the bench you must be able for minutes. I get the logic but I also thought NJ had a bit more about him and would respect the moment and at least keep us somewhat competitive.

But he's just back from an ACL which is why he didn't start!
  • A tough night with that starting line up but I have to say I don’t think Apter or Knibbs did themselves any favours with their performances tonight.

I would reserve judgement on Ouma, thought Mwamba looked good and, although it was a tough night for Asiimwe, he stuck with it and hope he gets a good loan out.

The news about Koumetio and Schindje may make a few realise why NJ made so many changes. Fuck the result, it was a disastrous night injury wise.

I agree, guess we find a struggling L1 team we can loan and then sell him to at a loss.
