I guess you'd play McNamara who's probably less of an injury risk.

But he's just back from an ACL which is why he didn't start!

Or Asiimwe who did well at LB. 

But he started at RB. 

We started with Asiimwe, Sichenje, Koumetio and Mesík. We protected Jones (important, Mac (ACL), Bell (glass) and Burke was injured. So without dipping into the academy we had to play either Koumetio or Jones

Hard to think what would persuade me to turn out for these matches any more, other than ticking off a new ground (which is mot a massive priority for me). 

Really hoped Nathan would pick at least a few key players, and I'm not sure that you learn enough about the fringe players if they only play with other fringe players.  I want to see how Mbick gets on with service from Chalobah, Grant,  not Knibbs and Apter

If the cup wants respect it cannot be a midweek game at the start of the season. Really not our problem.
Excellent run out for our second 11 and they performed well for a team that has not played alongside each other (the commentators thought it was only Spurs).
Absolutely the right decision to play the second 11 and if we had lost two from our starting 11 it would have been a disaster.
Pleased to see a couple of youngsters take the opportunity to show what they can do.
I think Brooks has taken some unfair abuse. Non league to Spurs. Some step up.
Made a good save first half and was playing behind a strange back 4. I think he did OK.

Result no surprise given that we tried to protect players understandably. Yet we have still lost two central defenders with injuries. A lottery as to how bad those injuries are.

Midfield largely non existent tonight which didn’t help.

Let’s hope we can pick up 3 points at the weekend and forget this one.

Injuries don’t happen because we were in the second round of a cup competition.  It’s just football.  It happens.

In true Charlton fashion, two weeks of sunshine, then pissed all over.

Injuries, AAAAARRRRGH!!!

Hung in there for most of the first half, then a quick double extinguished any real hope. I wasn’t impressed with the midfield who completely panicked every time they got hold of the ball. Nice stadium, poor atmosphere for the most part, and it felt like a training exercise. Shame we couldn’t have kept the same first team from the weekend, but I understand the decision. It just spoils the day out a little knowing you haven’t given it your best shot. Hope the injuries are not as bad as feared.

We deliberately played a weak team expecting to lose and bank the receipts. 

Shame they didn’t tell fans in advance. Although Rodwell sort of did on TalkSPORT earlier today. 

Our transfer targets don’t really change im sure just firms up options that were under consideration. 

Regardless Preston next is all we can concentrate on. 

NJ said as much after West Ham. His words were along the lines of he would use the squad, because of all tbe matches before the international break.

Obvious really, bit surprised people were surprised.

Collins are Koumetio are long term. With Burke made of glass and no Ramsay in sight we will need to bring two in.

You could make an argument to leave Burke out the squad altogether until Jan as well.  Take a hit on wages, but frees up a space

No one did, TV was focussing on Sichenje. Cawley says its a hamstring and NJ says its long term

Yeah I was doing the same watching the Sinchenje goings on right in front of us, then someone said Billy had gone off aswell. What an absolute kick in the bollox.
