    What's been said then?
Doesn't think JRS will happen now.
    Brilliant.
We have fuck all on the RW, it’s just going to be Grant all season now.

Collins will be ACL and Billy hammy.

Absolute fucking joke. First time we’ve had any fucking ambition and it gets ripped up for a temporary defender.

    Waste of fucking time

One thing being ignored on here so far...is Jones an emotional man?
He’s the most zen and laidback manager we’ve probably ever had. Even less touchline antics than Appleton and that’s saying something.

    Namaste.

Cawley speculating that Jones’ comments do have implications for JRS deal. Obvs defer to him but I’d be shocked if that’s the case. They need a CB on loan for six months ffs, not to tear up the JRS deal.

Cawley is thinking JRS won’t happen based on Nathan’s comments,  nothing past that for what it’s worth

Not signing another winger would be an absolute disaster. Surely we aren't going and spending £2-4m on a couple of CBs?

Nathan just said JRS is a Palace player and Cawley said you have to take his comments at face value.

I flicked through granted, but there was nothing that explicit

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I’d put that down to Jones being over emotional as usual .

Is he basing his opinion off what NJ said in their interview, or from something else?

    Cawley actually said?
He said he believes based on what Jones was saying that any deal for JRS would be unlikely. That's his opinion.

    Agree with someone above.

I can’t see how an injury to a couple of your cb’s prevents you signing a player that you’ve been after for a long time, brings balance to your team, is transformational in how other clubs see you, are confident will be worth more than you will pay for him so that you can bring in a short term fix to solve a couple of injuries.

Cawley and others know more than me, but either they’ll calm in the morning and work through a solution, or it’s all been a bit smoke and mirrors and we were never going to buy him in the first place.

Which is exactly what he said at the weekend.

Purely based on the quotes that are out there it seems. Didn’t indicate it was based on inside info.

There's an extra long international break from 21st Sept. That will eat up some of Billy's injury time

I’d like to think that there’s a conversation to be had with the owners where money can be brought forward again like it was with Sichenje - for all the good that’s done - and we don’t have to miss out on a key signing because of an injury. Time for Rodwell to earn his keep

I would think the same if I took an emotional Jones at face value.

But I hope tomorrow things might be different.

Grant, TC, Chalobah & Bell fell down the stairs in the box and are all out until March too
  • Did Nathan Jones have enough time to check on Koumetio's injury, conclude it was serious. Call Rodwell, Call the Board, confirm that the deal was off and focus on playing Tottenham Hotspur?

May just be an over-reaction but those quotes can never be good!

All very emotional from everyone at the moment,NJ hasn’t helped the situation, let’s wait and see when the dust settles tomorrow, hopefully someone from the board has a chat with NJ and help him out that extra bit, the ball will be in their court hopefully than can step up a little bit more. Absolute shit luck though.

You just know that if we cancel the JRS deal, the incoming CB would get injured immediately. Nailed on
  • It's safe to say if the announcement isn't tomorrow, it may be dusted.

I’m sure a good chat between owners and Jones will help in the morning. At end of the day, even with tonight’s injuries, Jones will want JRS in our team and the owners will want someone like that with potential to make a decent profit in future. Maybe there’s a discussion to be had to allow it AND bring in the needed defence back up.

Fuck sake. The JRS deal has been "happening" for so long, it just needed to happen that day earlier.

Or if the match had been played yesterday and Burke not injured, Billy wouldn't have even been on the pitch. In fact if Burke could have not been made of glass that would have helped too.

The magic of the fucking cup.
  • Jones shoots from the hip in post-match interviews sometimes, of course, but there is presumably no way he's spoken to the relevant people to set the cancellation of the JRS deal in motion. So is he announcing to the CAFC SMT, Palace, and most importantly JRS, his agent etc that the deal is going to be cancelled via the post-match interview? Even for Jones, I can't see it personally.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. It can be put on hold until Koumetio’s injury has been properly assessed and there’s been a look around the market for alternatives. If Koumetio’s injury isn’t as bad as feared or there’s a loan available that won’t cost too much then there can be a delay. We have until 1st September
  • Our scouting really is poor in recent years. Collins, Burke, Billy all injury nightmares
