All these bin Burke off comments. You do realise it isnt as easy as that. Even if jones did try and buy him off, what if Burke said no, which is what he would say. People living in fantasy land if they think this is an option.

Or he would simply say OK, please pay the remaining value of my contract into my account and we have a deal. As if you can just cancel a contract for anything less than the due amount......4 -
Came in last season with no pre season, barely played but scored a few goals, got crippled by an awful challenge and then looked decent against Hull. Was the stand out player in pre season and his only minutes this season have been against a premier league side where we had 20% possession - I’m not sure what you’re expecting of him?cafc4life said:Id seriously be looking to recoup some money we spent on Knibbs and get rid. Bar a couple of tap ins last season, I genuinely cannot remember one moment of play he has been involved in where I thought, yeah that was decent!

JSR felt like the missing piece of the jigsaw (imo) to ensure that, at last, we would have an attack which would bring more goals and strengthen the weakest part of our game. The overpowering concentration on "clean sheets" would not be paramount if we could rely on more goals being scored. NJ has done a great job building a strong defence and making us solid at the back which was the vital first priority.
The fans have had a lean time watching performances with the team grimly hanging on for points with little hope of the final third being supported sufficiently to score more than 1 goal a game.
Just as it looked like the change of formation this season was going to not only balance (complete) the team but provide more exciting entertainment (and consequently even higher regular attendances) and more hope we could consolidate our Championship position without fear of relegation.
This is why I feel that bringing in JRS is the priority (if its in our hands) whilst we deal with fixing the latest problem with covering the injuries from last night. IMO we have players who can "fill in" to shore up the gaps temporarily whilst we wait for players to return from injuries.
Its not ideal but it would be a real blow if we gave up this vital part of our team development if we chose to change direction at the last minute.

Both wide players offered little last night. Yes they were up against top defenders but neither looked like they could best a man or cross the ball.

I don't normally back the idea of the owners just getting the cheque book out but last night's two injuries are critical. We don't know lengths of the injury absence for either player but I would not be surprised if Collins was out for most of the season and Billy till Christmas. I doubt we’re fundamentally changing transfer strategy because Burke has picked up an injury.sammy391 said:Wonder if the deal hit a stumbling block, and we were needing to be patient…
now with injuries, there will be money/budget used up elsewhere which means we can no longer be patient for the JRS deal we had in place and therefore the deal is off.
if anything, it’s potentially due to Burkes Injury (and subsequent cover) rather than Collins/Billy0 -

I have no clue mate but I would think like all contracts it is a 2 way street. The agent's job is to get the best deal for his client but also the client has an obligation to pay his agent a % of the deal. If the agent offers up a more lucrative deal then they would be saying ok I would earn that from this deal but less from that one so perhaps the client has to make that difference up ?AberystwythAddick said:How much influence does an agent have in a transfer. Hoping JRS comes back around.
Was a very exciting thought of seeing TC, JRS and Leaburn up front. Quality, young players (with Grant alongside and Chalobah when not injured) cajoling and encouraging.
Would have been enough to avoid relation for sure but also to bring in sizeable returns to continue building in 12 months time.
Can see it being Palace who need to sell, can't see it being us who clearly want to buy. So it's either medical or player chasing more £££ elsewhere. Disappointing if the latter as he will have led us a long way before dropping us at the end of the window.
The big frustration for me is Burke, Luton fans delighted to move him on given his injury record meaning he is never available, and Jones daft comments when he signed that Burke was never injured for him. With a non-Burke alternate version there would be no panic after last night, just disappointment for the two lads.
Alli needs to be good as Chappel has signed him twice now, he is not an unknown quantity; it would seriously damage his rep if Alli turns out to be pony but way too early to make any sort of call on that one.
Did we ever find out why Dr Will left and was he ever adequately replaced? Injuries mounting after 4 games and with Billy, Collins and Chalobah I can't help but worry these are the sort of players we have taken a big punt on when squad places are limited; (especially when Burke and Godden were already with us).0 -
