Did you watch Rice at the end of the season and in the WC? He was hobbling like crazy and playing through injury. I don’t want our players having to do that. I’m sure the sports science team will have worked out how much load the players can take and the Spurs pitch is notorious for causing injury issues. I get why people were disappointed and understand it’s different watching from home but I totally understand the selectionAFKABartram said:

Left on the final whistle, 25-minute stomp to Tottenham Hale and five-minute queue to get into the station, but arrived at Liverpool Street at 10.30 and got to Woolwich at 11. Home 20 minutes later.
Strange old night, can see why NJ picked the team he did. Thought the stadium was amazing, though nothing could beat a weirdly agitated Tottenham fan shouting strange abuse at us ("vegan sausages! "you've got a bus pass!") over the divide. He then walked out after Jones's goal... anyhow, onwards.4 -

I do believe if we'd played the 1st XI and used 5 game changers from the bench we would've gone close but if you think we could've kept Savio AKA Savinho out you are deluded.
2-1 or maybe 3-2 lost if we were on our game but playing out best team would've been detrimental for Saturday and the League games coming up.
I had really bad vibes about this game and unlike so many just wasn't looking forward to it as we were going to put out a B squad and we would get hit for 5.
(I mentioned 5 goals in the preview)
We were on too much of a high and like the roller coaster it likes to bring CAFC back to terra firma with a splash.

Awful place for the long walk to the ground, and a big hike up the stairs to our level.
We aimed to get back to our Paddington b&b asap, and got there around 11.30pm! Madness that it took so long. Part of the walk back took us via Carbuncle Lane, a black void that Mrs TT said that we weren't going down. Two lads hesitated and took the plunge, so did we, then a few more followed behind us as there seemed no alternative. That was horrible, as it was impossible to see what was ahead, and there were lots of steps, that you needed to feel your way up and down.
I have no problem with the team selection, perhaps Nathan told those we think are heading off, 'you're in the shop window, sell yourself to other clubs' and to our fringe players 'show me that I need to pick you'.
Mwamba was my stand out, although Costello did well too. L Jones was his usual excellent self, with a couple of other reasonably performances considering the standard of opposition.
Just maybe the replacement CBs we now need could be an upgrade, although tbf Billy has been great so far.

After buzzing so much about the club after the West Ham victory, it's back to thinking about CAFC as a frustrating black cloud. Fields a team of reserves with a goalkeeper that was recently non-league in front of 6k travelling support (yes, I get why it was done, to avoid injuries, but I still think there could have been a happy medium). Basically a Spurs training excercise. Reserve player gets injured before game so the only first teamer that plays (who had been impressive in the first two games) gets horribly injured (along with another), and now we have to call off Rak Sakyi in order to find a centre-back pronto.YannTheMann said:Well that went about as badly as it possibly could have

My firms got a booth there - so I was in the posh bit with my lot. Free draught beer and wine. 3 course meal, half time samosas. Post match cheese board. It was amazing. Really enjoyable. Unbelievable gaff. But its not football and i wont do it again.
But then we had to go and lose and i had to sit amongst them lot - just above our fans. Then didn't get home until 12.45 as my plan failed to go to Northumberland Park to Stratford. Ended up getting to Dartford by midnight only to be told there was a rail replacement bus service. £65 in a cab home Grrrrrrr.

Have to remember that we did pretty well for 40 mins. Up til then we had the best chance and had found a bit of rhythm, for a scratch side.Old man’s moan. Thankfully my mate needed to eat so dived into a cafe and had to convince them I was going to order something before crashing into the bog. One thing that amused me was the big thing made about the beer being filled from the bottom of the glass.
