    The thing that’s so frustrating I think, is the lack of consistency. 
    They’re not even hiding it anymore now that they openly and unapologetically give fouls against the attacking side when there’s mutual pushing and shoving in the box.
    The situation for Maguire’s goal falls under the idea that you let an accidental handball go unless that player then scores. I mean, it’s ludicrous. 
    A foul is a foul. A handball is a handball. It shouldn’t rest on outcome, it should rest on whether it’s a foul/handball or not. What the threshold is for what makes something a foul/handball is a different debate, but is it any wonder people are pissed off with the way the modern game has gone?

    Liverpool surely need a right-back and a defensive midfielder more than they need Barcola?

    Good as I think he is.

    Feels a bit like £125m on Isak last season when they had already signed Ekitike.

    The whole handball situation is absolutely farcical nowadays. There are so many ridiculous factors on what apparently constitutes handball now it is no wonder referees are tying themselves in knots.

    I think it is fair to say most fans, pundits, managers, players etc now have no real understanding of what is and isn't handball. It just seems a lottery at the moment and the ridiculous number of factors that go into the decision making means you can make an argument for and against any handball decision so nobody ends up happy.

    I cannot understand why we don't just go back to handball needing to be deliberate and also include any handball that directly leads to a goal or prevents a goal.

    How in God's name have spurs got an option to buy Mudryk for £75m? He was shit before he didn't play for 2 years. Do Chelsea have some sort of magical powers where they get teams to massively overpay for their players, even when they're bang average.

    Mental transfer window. Would love there to be an independent investigation into some of these deals and the fees involved. Massively dodgy.

    Probably just Chelsea covering themselves in case out of nowhere he has a really good season. He worked with De Zerbi at Shakhtar and he seems to rate him. They might also be thinking that this lot somehow paid 85m for Savinho so we'll chance it.

    It's an option to buy, not an obligation, so most likely he will just go back to Chelsea next summer.

    The situation with Liam Delap was ridiculous too. They signed him for £30m last year then sell him to Forest this year for £50m, despite looking utterly out of his depth last year.
    It highlights the value of putting these players on ridiculously long contracts. It’s a gamble of course because you can only sell a player for such a price if someone is willing to pay it. There’s always a chance a player’s value will drop off a cliff.  Annoyingly, Chelsea seem to be very good at walking this line, and Mudryk is a case in point. The bloke’s done pretty much fuck all other that get banned for doping since signing for about £90m in 2023, yet he’s retained almost his entire value. Absolutely ludicrous.

    I think the Delap one makes a bit more sense because the £30m was a release clause, he might have gone for another £5/10m without it so the inflation is less.

    I also feel a bit sorry for Mudryk, the rules have changed and he wouldn't be banned for the same results today. He certainly won't be worth £75m at the end of the season though. Doesn't mean Spurs won't pay it

    Letting Big Kevin Danso go, the only one of our CB who wasn't afraid of heading a football, I feel will be a massive mistake.

    Explain to me how we bought him for £25m from overseas, brought him on as a PL footballer then we let him go for £25m? (thats the obligation Sunderland got if not clear!) Absolute madness.  He's done better at Spurs than Delap done at Chelsea and they made a profit and we didn't.

    On the other hand Tosin Adewhatshisname was really bloody good at Fulham and made a mistake going to Chelsea, like most do, so not as panicked by letting Big Kev go.

    Mudryk, however, FFS.  He was proper sh*t for Chelsea before he got banned and they were trying to flog him and no one would take him.  Now we're rehabilitating their failure for them of all clubs.  It just smacks of a Timo Werner / Kolo Muani signing.  At least he has got something to prove I guess.

    Yes, he played for RDZ before and done well then so maybe he might get a tune out of him but I have nagging doubts.  However, on the plus size, he is quick (well he was when he last played 2 years ago) and he's capable of crossing a ball, unlike Tel seems to be. 

    But will he play?  I'm not overly convinced he'll start a game for us.  When everyone is fit, Kudus & Kulusevski will play on the right, Savio, Mudryk, Tel on the left and Marmoush or Solanke will play centrally I would think.  Then more options when Xavi Simons and Odobert return around Xmas time.

    I think £75m is bloody ridiculous.  Glad its an option, not mandatory.  Apparently a £8m loan fee too.

    Anyway, just for the record, including all add-ons and obligations on both sides...

    Players In: £389.0m
    Players Out: £255.8m
    Net Spend: £133.2m

    If you compare that to last 5 seasons... 22/23 £123.0m, 23/24 £132.0m, 24/25 £110.0m, 25/26 £156.0m.

    Granted the wage bill and wage to turnover ratio would have increased.

    That net spend will be even more reduced should Bitcharlison move on to Turkey or the Middle East in the next two weeks.  Somehow, I think he'll stick around to get his free transfer next season.

    (PS) Still don't understand the logic of letting Spence go when we've only got one dedicated RB at the club.  Archie Gray, as good as he is, is not a RB.

    The whole thing seems completely absurd? I know Beto isn't the greatest striker ever but to sell him before the Balogun medical is even done is bizarre and now there's back and forth with Monaco about who's to blame for the Balogun deal collapsing. It's just really poor planning. 

    Leaves them with Barry and then if he gets injured it's a man you know very well in Brennan Johnson down the middle.

    Paying £40m for Balogun would have been a disaster too, but them leaving themselves with one striker is terrible.

    Man Utd not signing a left back is very stupid too, Shaw looks iffy anyway and he's not playing 38 games plus Europe.

    Got to laugh really, PL clubs spent records amounts this summer and at the end of it all, it's hard to find a club who are actually happy.

    Arsenal - haven't strengthened their attack at all.
    City - spent a fortune but still have no specialist RB and now no backup for Haaland.
    Liverpool - no midfield cover, no natural RW replacement for Salah.
    Chelsea - midfield has got far weaker
    Man U - still left with Shaw and Dalot as full backs, could probably do with a top class CB too.
    Spurs - spent a fortune but jury is out on some of the signings, no RB cover for Porro and the Mudryk loan is questionable.
    Villa - squad got ripped apart.
    Everton - shambles of a summer, left with 1 striker.
    Palace - lost half their defence, star summer signing was Dwight McNeil.
    Coventry - spent over 100m on what so far looks like very average players.

    Yeah i agree, i can see them winning the league comfortably. They'll win a lot of games 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 because their defence is so strong. Don't need to be scoring 3-4 goals every week.

    Brentford have had a decent window. Brought in quite a few players, yet sold nobody of note. If Thiago had had a better World Cup for Brazil, maybe he would have attracted more interest.

    No offence to him, and maybe its because he's spent time as a pundit... But still trying to work out how Keith Andrews has ended up being a very inspired managerial choice for them - I suppose its not fair to him, as he has done a few coaching roles as well
