Oliver Skipp is an Addick: Season long loan from Leicester City

I remember the great Lennie Lawrence back in the days when we didn’t have a pot signed some experienced players who had metaphorically ‘lost their way and reputation’ at so called bigger clubs, and revived their careers somewhat. Paul Miller, Andy Peake and Steve Mackenzie spring to mind, as well as providing a ‘lost’ goalkeeper in Bob Bolder a fresh start.
Nathan can provide a fresh start for players. Hope it will work for Skipp.8 -

Red cards are not competition specific and his three-match ban will start in midweek against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup. He will then be unavailable for the League One fixtures against MK Dons and Plymouth Argyle.0

Was it not the Leicester fans who were glad to see the back of Yann Kermorgant?6

If he’s 10% as good as Claus, we will be on a winner, that guy was a god for Charlton AthleticLeuth said:

Think I’ll Skipp commenting as I know nothing about him.
Good luck to him.0 -
My main issue with this is if he turns out to be shit hot (incredibly doubtful). We won't be able to afford him anyway. We're not paying anyone £50k a week.0
-
How can we sign him when it puts us over the 25 maximum and not heard of any more players leaving?0

He was given a 50k a week contract when he was in the Premier League.Pelling1993 said:My main issue with this is if he turns out to be shit hot (incredibly doubtful). We won't be able to afford him anyway. We're not paying anyone £50k a week.
When it runs out any new contract will be considerably less.1 -
Its probably already been mentioned, but notice that Jones has said "Skippy is someone that I’ve known for a long, long time." - I guess this was the one that Jones was referring to a few weeks back, when we all presumed he was talking about a Right-Winger?Wonder how he knows him though0

Look, he may also not be a russell martin player. And Nathan Jones and Russell Martin have VERY different styles!
In terms of quality on the ball, he probably, at £20m once upon a time, has more than we've had in many a year. It all depends on whether he can keep up with Jones' workrate and positional demands.0 -
We can sign a million players if we want, it's just that we can only register 25. We'll be hoping the Scottish, Turkish and Portuguese leagues really like the look of Rob Apter I guessross1 said:How can we sign him when it puts us over the 25 maximum and not heard of any more players leaving?3 -

At the top clubs they don't think like this ?
They just buy good players and one will start and one will be a game changer or a game saver.
Also some players won't even make the 20 man squad in some matches.
We are getting there to have this Competition with starters, off the bench, subs not used and because of mandatory injuries we will hardly have any over 21's players not even in the match day 20 players.

Leicester fans also absolutely hated Harry Winks. He's now started 3 games out of 3 this season for Cagliari who are in Serie A. Individual players were probably not the issue, it's a collective shit show there.Raith_C_Chattonell said:Was it not the Leicester fans who were glad to see the back of Yann Kermorgant?3 -
I dont think the players are the issue necessarily, nor even the manager actually. Leicester as a club just seems to have descended into an absolute death spiral of gloom and failure and need a wholesale change of some sort to reset and start again - not entirely unlike ourselves when we went from Duchatalet (who couldn’t give a shit) to Southall (fraudster and conman) to Sandgaard (egotist and dodgy to boot.)Chris_from_Sidcup said:

We hopefully are now out of the worst of it but when you look how long that took us I suspect Leicester will be in the doldrums for a while yet.2 -

Im hearing he has a crisp finish0

Haven't the owners put them up for sale?Chris_from_Sidcup said:
They're financially a mess and need his wages (or at least some of them) off the books. There's even been rumours of administration but not sure how true they are.RaplhMilne said:Please explain to me why, a team trying to get out of league 1 are happy to let an (allegedly championship quality player go out on loan) surely they need quality players to get promoted.0 -

See the fine(r) print ** at the bottom - surely that means he still has one game to goRedhenry said:Red cards are not competition specific and his three-match ban will start in midweek against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup. His ban is for 3 games of domestic football. He has served that.
Red cards aren’t competition-specific in English domestic football.1 -

I’m not sure of the exact timings but if we officially signed him early enough yesterday for him to be eligible for tonight then he wouldn’t have served the ban for Leicester’s match. NJ also has no track record of signing players and throwing them straight into the squad. So I’m about as sure as can be that he won’t feature in our squad tonight.3

Experienced midfielder in the Prem and the Champ .. don't judge him on the Leicester debacle. He'll do a decent job in whatever role Nathan envisages .. welcome Ollie Ollie Ollie rah rah rah Skipp to my lou .. please excuse my temporary reversion to a naughty 6 year old1
-
He'll probably feature and then we'll lose and get a nine point deduction for fielding an ineligible player.7

That's crazy.Pelling1993 said:

How do they think they can offload him if he's on 50k per week for the next 3 years.
On a much lower level That's the situation we have with Ahadme, no one will match what we are paying him so we are stuck with him.0 -
Always need one slaphead in a squad.eastterrace6168 said:
