Will be interesting to see how we manage the minutes and prioritise between Chalobah, Coventry, Skipp, Ouma and Mwamba but I'll take that over last season's solution of signing a centre back on loan and putting him into midfield.8 -
Lots of experience at the highest level, player competition and general squad depth. We needed that in the midfield especially, so this is a great deal for us.0

Yes it was, Coady helped keep us up - but the fact we needed to even do that was the problem. Hopefully this season we don't have the kind of form/injury problems that we need to bring someone in to save us.charltonbob said:

I mean come on, there’s definitely some pot/kettle going on here…Alwaysneil said:Are you sure he's 25? Looks older than my dad (76)
If your dad is 76 then you’re likely younger than me but from memory the one time we met (that POTY dinner that we went to with @Davo55 , @Arsenetatters and @AFKABartram )
I’d have had you down as being closer to 76 than me and that was what 10-yrs ago now?

All this arguing about his suspension, on the OS it says available for the game on September 9th. Must mean not available before1

Thats referring to his home debut is it not?ross1 said:All this arguing about his suspension, on the OS it says available for the game on September 9th. Must mean not available before
He has served 3 games already for his ban2 -
The article says his Valley debut could come on the 9th, ie the first home game where they are trying to sell home tickets.ross1 said:All this arguing about his suspension, on the OS it says available for the game on September 9th. Must mean not available before
The announcement of Bindon said the same thing but I’d say he’s likely to feature before then also.2 -
As I read through this thread, I thought how rude and personal everyone was being going on about his looks. Then I saw his picture and thought, fuck me we've signed Don Welsh's long lost cousin!

Unless they get new rich owners or get back into the championship he will probably never play for them again and will just be loaned out every year.blackpool72 said:

He was given a 50k a week contract when he was in the Premier League.Pelling1993 said:My main issue with this is if he turns out to be shit hot (incredibly doubtful). We won't be able to afford him anyway. We're not paying anyone £50k a week.
When it runs out any new contract will be considerably less.
How do they think they can offload him if he's on 50k per week for the next 3 years.
On a much lower level That's the situation we have with Ahadme, no one will match what we are paying him so we are stuck with him.0 -
One thing I'd hope with Skipp is that he's got aspirations to get back to a level that is quicker than what we can get there.Back to back relegations means this is a chance to use Charlton as a stepping stone for the next year, and prove he should be at a club higher than us, which this year not only benefits us, but maybe given the start we've had, helps keep us where we really shouldnt be yet.3

Think this is the one signing you can’t get excited or disappointed about yet. Because the quality between his best or worse is so substantial we have zero clue what to expect1

Latest NTT20 is summing up every club’s deadline day.
There’s a couple of paragraphs each for Nkeng and Skipp written by Ali Maxwell. I think the last sentence on Skipp is great.
”In a settled, coherent side with a clear style of play, he may get back to what he did best, quietly bossing midfield battles.”7 -

This is what my dour LCFC supporting mate said about Skipp ..
We paid £20m - very very ordinary, works hard but ineffective
Awful at Leicester, slow and technically poor
welcome to Charlton0 -
They’re comparing to PL midfielders and won the title 10 years ago._MrDick said:This is what my dour LCFC supporting mate said about Skipp ..

Welcome Oliver Skipp - if NJ thinks you are the man, that’s good enough for me - a solid sensible addition (now I’ve got over the fact we aren’t signing prime Ronaldo to play on the right wing)1

This one did surprise a lot if us. He has a fresh start with the club, though it's a loan, but I really hope he can reach the highs he is capable off.
I wish Skipps the very best whilst he is with our club!3 -
Cawley has already said in his article he is free to start away to Stoke (Saturday) so debate over (he was not registered in time for tonight)Callumcafc said:https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/oliver-skipp-joins-addicksSkipp's Valley debut could come on Wednesday, September 9th when the Addicks take on Queens Park Rangers under the lights. What my Spurs mate said about him
'Good guy. Solid. Won’t set the world alight, but he was sort of a fav at The Lane, partly because he was home grown, but also because he gave his all.'3
