8.5 / 10 for me. Definitely needed that quality right winger but we did try. I also think that I’m marking it down because there is no real way of assessing whether Mesik and Ouma will cut it. Certainly the former looks like he will but they were educated gambles. Nkeng is in the same boat. Having said that it’s the best window for years.

Goalkeeper Exemption: Goalkeepers are exempt from the 25-man limit and do not take up a senior squad space.

That is the rule in league one and league two, but not in the Championship

Not sure why the rule is different across the divisions, but below from EFL website:

So, i assume JRS paperwork must have been submitted too late...🙄
No, he was never going to join once he failed a part of the medical and his former agent started asking for payment on top of the fees we were already paying.

When the club realised how messy it was getting, combined with the fact that the medical issue (whatever it may be) was adding extra risk, we decided the hassle and the near £5m outlay, plus making him one of the highest earners, wasn't worth it.

I wish people would stop just peddling any old rubbish, trying to make the club look incompetent, when almost everything they're doing right now points in the opposite direction
    WHOOOOOOOOSSHH!!!!
Ok fair enough, just sick and tired of reading some people's absolute drivel on this site

Tyler Bindon counts as U21 surely? He was born in 2005.

I’m still scarred by Transfer Deadline Days of the past (notably January 2014 and the exit of Yann & January 2020 and the photo of the snacks and the subsequent shambles). However, this summers business looks pretty decent and the healing has gone up a notch…

JRS is the bigger disappointment. He has the ability but his pace and strength is lacking for most divisions.
At last someone has the guts to criticise JRS!
Not the first, there were doubts raised earlier. It maybe good for you to read through all the comments again.  :D

He turned 21 in January, so imagine not because that was last season...
Suspect if he didnt turn 21 until December this year then yes would count as an U21

All loans count towards registration, regardless of their age.

He is on loan, would count as a squad player even if under 21

@PeakieRocket has posted a photo of the squad out for a walk near The Hawthorns (poor bastards) on the preview thread. Apter is there, as are Knibbs and JRC so none of those have gone

Isn't that the case for pretty much every football transfer ever?

My thoughts today are that I’m relatively positive (helped by the early season form)

    - It’s very impressive how we’ve managed to improve the depth and balance of the squad while only spending about £4.36 (ok £0.5m) but really we have done this on a shoestring, so if it works then massive kudos to them (I know we’ve invested more indirectly in wages)

    - I’m not sure we have massively improved the quality or for the long term. Is Alli good enough? Will Ouma be a success, will Chabolah stay fit and last more than a season. The new winger is a gamble. So lots of unanswered questions.

    - most reassuring though is how we are now being run like a super professional club again. No leaks, no dramas, quick to react and I have to say the send of for Doc today has been really classy, and really got me in the feels.

Proud to support this club right now especially after the Roland & Sandgaard horrors.

Assume the chances of us now signing Otto (Finnish lad) have gone?
I did read one poster say that as it would be for our U21s the deadline was na.  But is that true for a loan as well as an outright purchase.

He won't need to be registered with the EFL so I think it's fine but I'm not 100% sure

Nothing has been announced today about players being released, other than Doc. And it would be bizarre for players to be with the squad today, if they're expected to move to Scotland (or wherever) in the next day.

Even if they had travelled yesterday up in case the Skipp deal had fallen through, surely they'd have been released this morning to pursue a new club?

The other day NJ mentioned our net spend was £1.5m, but that was before the last few signings. We’ll may have paid loan fees for Bindon and Skipp, and we’ve obviously paid a fee for Nkeng.

So trying to be more positive about the Skipp signing, is he the same type of player as Holsgrove?, if so would it be fair to say he’s a better signing? Based on the fact his pedigree and level he has played at, would this be fair to say?
