Northamptonshire pitch sounds pretty lively. Durham got 205 in the end. Northamptonshire have lost their first wicket in the first over. those there are saying that Durham should be licking their lips bowling on this wicket1

A lot of the time they do fall in clusters principally because batters are at their most vulnerable when they first come in. Which is why it is so frustrating that Northeast (43), Muyeye (37), DBD (52) and Benjamin (40) all gave their wickets up to poor shots when they were in. I remember previous heat wave summers, where it's been paradise for the batsmen. It's as if groundsmen went too far the other way to prevent this and get results.
The Oval, for example, is famous for being good for batting. The place Pope makes centuries in, in his sleep. Well currently after bowling Yorks out for 185, Surrey are 50-5.1 -

It's possible that they might have gone the other way but let's not forget that only two rounds of matches were played in the three month period between the middle of May and the middle of August. Much has been talked about Lord's and that only has three strips that they can be utilised for high profile matches because of the positioning of the TV cameras. Those have next to zero time to recover.0 -
