Before pocket calculators there was the good old slide rule, magic bit of kit, also excellent for writing formulas etc on the back for your exams.
I had one of these as a kid. Cutting edge stuff!

I had one of these as a kid - all the rage back then :)

Babbages Difference Engine No 2 2002 Science Museum Group Collection

When I started working, one of the old boys in the test lab used one of these.

  • Frightening really. 24 years.....

Probably older than some on here......

  • My 41 year old son is off to Benidorm for 4 days, I’ve always spoken about my holiday there it was a club 18 / 30 (obviously withholding a lot details) and told him about a disco we went to, told him it was shaped like a flying saucer. Yesterday he looked it on the internet, unbelievable it’s still there and open so they are going to go and take photo’s. My holiday was there 55 years ago, I was a long haired 18 year old with flared trousers and platform shoes, now 73 😀

Having knee done in 4 weeks, just had minor op on back . Moaning about the pain, my Grandson in all seriousness simply said to me "Grandad, do you think you would be better off dead?". Made everyone in the room cry with laughter.  Excuse the pun but he was deadly serious! Little shit.

  • I remember my son (who'd inherited the family's sarcastic streak) cut out a soccer skills section from a Kelloggs box and sent it into Charlton.

... there was no reply or improvement in general play  :/

I lifted this picture from a post on LinkedIn that someone put up. There would have been enough there for a game at The Valley AND change

Hearing someone on the radio talking about something or another as a "record for this century". My first reaction was to think it was ridiculous hyperbole. But no, we are a quarter of the way through it already. It's no longer a joke, it's quite legitimate to claim century based benchmarks. Where has that time gone?

The first western act to tour the country and I realised it was 41 years ago !

Reading the Gig Spy thread and never heard of all these bands.
  • My 3 year old granddaughter was sitting on my lap the other week.
She touched my cheek and asked if God had made me?
I said - well yes I think he did.....
She then touched her own cheek and said "he's getting better at it isn't he"!
I have now lost my faith!

Coming back from Spurs the other week, got on a packed tube at King's Cross on the switch from the Victoria Line to the Northern.

A young fella looks at me, stands up and offers me his seat.
I look round expecting it to be for someone else but he was actually offering it to me.

Sorry mate, I'm 50!  I don't need a bloody seat.  Cheeky b*stard.  We both laughed.

Thats what f*cking Spurs are clearly doing to me FFS.
