I know what you mean, but to be fair, the only choice they had was to pit Antonelli but not Russell. If they’d pitted both, they would’ve lost second place to Verstappen and they couldn’t pit just Russell because Antonelli couldn’t have lasted the race on his mediums. There was always a chance that the hard tyres might manage to hold on, so it was the only logical choice for the team. It’s annoying for Russell, but I can’t see how, as a team, they could justify any other decision.ForeverAddickted said:Great drive from Kimi... Great drive by Kimi but incredibly boring when teams have brought huge upgrades to the races, we have a different pole sitter, and a racetrack where it's a different layout and strategy to most of the rest of the calendar, and we still end up with a Mercedes 1-20

Russell is 28 and shows no real signs of improving. Antonelli only turned 20 a couple of weeks ago and already looks like he could win multiple titles. Russell has won 2 races to Antonelli's 7 and has 0 fastest laps at any race this season, Antonelli has 7.Exiled_Addick said:

Harsh given until this year Russell hasn't had a car to challenge for the title and has shown some damned consistency these last few years, probably only Verstappen and Norris have been better in that regard.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

If Mercedes wanted to favour Antonelli, and like you say there's no major evidence that they are, then i think it would be completely justified.
Think he's too much of a confidence driver... A bit like Norris and hasn't recovered from the early setbacks, whilst equally struggling when being challenged by Antonelli who is a generational talent (Although look forward to Slater challenging him), and makes all the comments about him being promoted to F1 too early a year ago, look pretty stupid.
Russell probably needs to go away and recover over the winter, and look inwards... But also the amount of bad luck he's had compared to Kimi is a bit ridiculous.
