This is one hell of a race. I don't mind the yo-yoing because it's great fun

One of the best moves you'll see all year from Kimi

Why did Ferrari not pit then?! Another Ferrari brain fart.

Russell being humiliated again by his younger team mate.

Good race that. A shame a decent chunk of the action was demoted to the mini window because the Italian director wanted to do Kimi watch

Great drive from Kimi... Best place to take an Engine penalty though, and got helped by the Red flag so got another restart to benefit from
Does continue to feel as though Mercedes are more interested in seeing their protege winning here, so Russell is getting screwed over a lot

I know what you mean, but to be fair, the only choice they had was to pit Antonelli but not Russell. If they’d pitted both, they would’ve lost second place to Verstappen and they couldn’t pit just Russell because Antonelli couldn’t have lasted the race on his mediums. There was always a chance that the hard tyres might manage to hold on, so it was the only logical choice for the team. It’s annoying for Russell, but I can’t see how, as a team, they could justify any other decision.

    Not according to Ferrari…

Bit harsh, but he’s not top tier and certainly not as good as he thinks he is (or at least appears to).

If Mercedes are deliberately favouring Antonelli, and I’m not entirely sure they are, there’s a reason and it’s because Kimi is a generational talent in the making.

Great drive by Kimi but incredibly boring when teams have brought huge upgrades to the races, we have a different pole sitter, and a racetrack where it's a different layout and strategy to most of the rest of the calendar, and we still end up with a Mercedes 1-2

Russell is 28 and shows no real signs of improving. Antonelli only turned 20 a couple of weeks ago and already looks like he could win multiple titles. Russell has won 2 races to Antonelli's 7 and has 0 fastest laps at any race this season, Antonelli has 7.

If Mercedes wanted to favour Antonelli, and like you say there's no major evidence that they are, then i think it would be completely justified.

Harsh given until this year Russell hasn't had a car to challenge for the title and has shown some damned consistency these last few years, probably only Verstappen and Norris have been better in that regard.

Think he's too much of a confidence driver... A bit like Norris and hasn't recovered from the early setbacks, whilst equally struggling when being challenged by Antonelli who is a generational talent (Although look forward to Slater challenging him), and makes all the comments about him being promoted to F1 too early a year ago, look pretty stupid.

Russell probably needs to go away and recover over the winter, and look inwards... But also the amount of bad luck he's had compared to Kimi is a bit ridiculous.

I just think he's up against a generational talent. Russell is good but he's not an Antonelli/Verstappen level talent.

Probably a good thing actually for George to go straight into another race weekend even if I do think we're in for carnage.

This Madrid circuit looks incredible.  Some of the long turns and elevation changes ... bit like a rollercoaster!  Drivers saying it's a tough new one to learn.

  • Four Red Flags in F2 Quali... I really hope this isn't going to be how the F3 Championship gets decided.
I know part of the skill required is keeping it out of the wall, but seems harsh with a largely unfamiliar track
Just glad the F3 Drivers had that In-Season Test session

There's a video of Max trying it for the first time on the PlayStation the other day, constantly crashing into the wall. He said the flow of the track doesn't make sense because a lot of the corners bear one way then suddenly turn another, or tighten much quicker on the exit than you expect.

I'm sure they'll get used to it quickly but it was interesting to see what he thought of it

What an absolute nightmare for Slater... WTF have Trident done to his car?
Needs a miracle against Ugochukwu now
  • Wondering if he damaged his floor when he kangarooed over the kerbs earlier today

Another circuit that gives us DRS trains. Great!

Isn't Ugochukwu's fault that Slater's car has failed these last two weekends, but f**king great the title gets decided on Quali at this rate

I also don't get the hype with Ugo. Will end up in Indycar.

His form has nose dived since Silverstone... His Championship has been saved by Slater's DNF last week and his broken car
  • Apologies to anyone at The Valley today as I feel this is going to be a qualifying session worth watching for the amount of cars that might KO when pushing the limits, it's a mental circuit!
