Draw probably about right, disappointed we couldn't manage a shot on target. QPR had some good possession but didn't create many clear cut chances.
Would have liked to have seen Knibbs replace Carey. Binden looked a bit ropey at times2 -

I'm not expecting us to be expansive.
But I don't think it unreasonable to expect us be able to have some possession. We were awful on the ball, constantly giving the ball away and inviting new attacks. A better team than QPR would have exploited that.
This was a great backs against the wall defensive performance, but we need to keep the ball much better, and control games more.
And the negative mind set, passing backwards instead of forward on more than one occasion put us into trouble, as we then ended up losing the ball in dangerous positions near our goal

Coventry, for all his work rate and endeavour in winning the ball, for the life of him has no fucking clue what to do with it once on it
Bindon has a chance giving mistake or 3 in him every game it seems
Bell has lost half a step of pace and is getting found out pretty handily by wingers this season
Carey may as well be a ginger wig wearing mannequin
Grant seems to end up dropping 20 yards deeper than he should be and then loses the ball on the dribble in his own half
Leaburn is throwing himself about but doesn't seem to be able to link play with anyone right now, and is possibly injured too
We used JRC in 3 different positions and he looked mediocre in all of them
Mbick just isn't quite ready and we're throwing him out there in desperation
We go again on Saturday, but it was a tough watch tonight and if Miles is missing I struggle to see a front 4 of Grant, TC, Carey and Alli having much of a say in the outcome
You'll be amazed if we beat Pompey on Saturday

TC alone is almost certainly worth more than £7m
My point is £7m in this day and age isn't going to get you much, unless you pick up 5 or 6 absolute gems on next to nothing, but for every Mesík, Small or Bell there's dozens of players like Hernandez, Juan Castillo, Roussillon and the like who are free for a reason, and others like Apter and Olaofe who you spend good money on that don't work out

Hard to tell. The player tripped over his own feet and then Mesík has kind of fallen over him but was also sort of already going over. Seen them given but not outrageous that it wasn’tSword65pf said:

A mention for Okonkwo as well. The save on the one on one when Bindon had given it away, but I also loved the way he claimed that low cross right at the end. That is proper keeping
The whole of the back four look so much more confident with him in the sticks. Polar opposite to Kaminski. He absolutely pulled off some big saves, but definitely gave off an aura of tension and that a clanger was always on the cards

I’d play Mwamba in the 10. He has the ability to pick a pass like Costello does, but also has the mobility to get about the pitch that we need in that role
Feel for Knibbs but honestly don’t think he’d suit the way we are playing any more than Carey does. Knibbs plays nearer the striker than the midfielders when he’s there. What we need is a player that can pick the ball up deeper, turn and pick a pass to the front 3. Costello suits it but he just can’t run, would like to see Mwamba in the 10 with Coventry and Skipp the 2 behind (assuming no Chalobah still)6 -
Some perspective… less than 2 years ago we had just lost 2-1 at home to Crawley. We were plummeting down the League One table having won just 1 of our last 6 games. I remember feeling that night that we weren’t going anywhere any time soon.
Look how far we’ve come. Funnily enough Lloyd Jones and Tyreece Campbell were both on the bench that night.12 -

We would have had more trust in Camachio winning duals than Bindon, so headers would have been going back up the pitch and not sticking so much in our final third. So that’s three defensive changes that would have completely changed the way we played.Chalobah is better than Skipp, so that would have improved our ability to keep possession and shape centrally better.At least one of Kelman or Godden if fit would have featured at points, potentially both, with Kelman giving us legs and energy for the first 60 and Leaburn then coming on to be momentum beast for the last 30. Mbick is just not ready for this yet.We are playing at the moment with what we have. Against possession and movement teams it’s going to be counter based and pretty attritional. Firstly, full marks to Nathan and the team for a defensive masterclass and clean sheet after the 0-4 drubbing.
Might have nicked it with a bit of luck or argueably the right calls from the officials.
Yeh, we played like the away team, but maybe it was a case of needs must.
I am still trying to process these early games.
At face value QPR looked like a team that will be challenging at the top, I was impressed by their slick passing and movement (and mightily impressed with their goalie and his comfort on the ball).
I don't know, maybe their inability to penetrate our defence effectively shows up their weakness if we are so bad as some say. Or maybe we are not so bad.
Some people are moaning about the lack of entertainment. Hahahahahaha. Grow up9 -
Biggest positive about tonight is we absorbed 75% possession and never really looked like we were going to concede, 1 mistake from Bindon letting in Smyth was the sum total of their clear chances.
Confused at the aggro towards the ref as well. Yes, it was a foul on Grant at the end, but it's red-tinted glasses that think Campbell was onside, he's clearly ahead of his marker on all the camera angles, close but clear. He checked his run a split second too late before accelerating past the CB. Otherwise the only thing he got really wrong was not giving QPR a fk for the foul by Bindon. Compared with Madley I'd take that ref for the rest of the season.
Credit to Okonkwo, Jones, Coventry and Mesik, pretty average from everyone else.
Not going to live long in the memory, that one, but follow it up with a win on Saturday and 4 points is spot on from these 2 games.2 -

Given that we had only 28% possession and zero shots on target, this has to go down as an excellent and very hard won point.
The big plus is the clean sheet and that we defended very well against almost continuous waves of QPR attacks, albeit the visitors lacked a cutting edge. That said, the fact that they only managed two shots on target is testament to how hard our players worked to protect our goal.
The big downside is that we were outplayed for practically the entire game and were largely unable to break QPR’s aggressive press. In contrast, they were able to play their way out with ease and to progress deep into our half largely unmolested. It pains me to say it, but they were superior, both individually and structurally. Even their diminutive goalie’s passing was impressive.
TC was head and shoulders our best player and represented the only real threat to QPR, although I thought that Leaburn also did well in the first half (hopefully he’ll be ok for Saturday, as Mbick looked a little ponderous). As ever, Lloyd Jones was dominant at the back and the team worked extremely hard to contain a fairly slick looking QPR side, whose passing, touch and movement was pretty impressive.
With the substitution of JRC for Miles at half-time, we moved to a back 5 and that did help to close off some of the gaps that we were leaving in the first half.
I’m afraid that Carey had another poor game and, with two holding midfielders in Coventry and Skipp, the number 10 position is becoming a bit of an issue.
Still, it’s another important point on the board and hopefully tonight’s exertions won’t have taken too much out of the lads before Saturday’s game against a Pompey side, who have had the luxury of a game free midweek.

Jones almost pulled off the classic defend and one chance win.
I think this reaction shows we are better equipped this season to stay up higher up the table after a 4-0 drubbing.
If we beat Portsmouth the confidence will come in again and as players come back I think we will see a solid mid table outfit materialise.2 -
That was a football lesson on how to pass and keep possession Only saving grace was they were as toothless in the penalty box as we were. Lost count of how many corners they had and how many times their keeper threw the ball to his right back in our half.
Another poor decision cost us a goal... 2 goals in 4 games same as last year, midfield totally inept and I wonder if Carey is colour blind as he kept passing to them.
But we defended stoutly and sneaked a point.0 -
Unbelievable amount of moaning on here, I assume mainly from armchair viewers? Our group agreed over a drink after in the Fans’ Bar that it was quite enjoyable for a 0-0. Thought the singers in UCE were well on form and must have helped the team second half. Got to be pleased with a point while feeling a bit robbed re what would have been another lovely TC goal. We were disjointed apart from the back line and I was frustrated by a couple of tactical approaches - everyone really deep for oppo corners and the faffing about with Bindon taking goal kicks. But we stuck at it and got stuck in and chalked up another point.
Even more unbelievably I still had a loud mouth TC detractor and friends a few rows behind me. Call me his mum if they want, I’ll take that as a compliment. Not sure I’m up to cooking his lunch for him every day though. Muppets.

If you actually read the posts you'll find people aren't moaning about only getting a point tonight. It's the manner we went about it. There has been no real change from last season in the fact that the one missing factor still hasn't been addressed.
