Done a lot worse... But in all oseriousness, if we are up for sale, I can't see a reason Stavely and co wouldn't have a look. Prime location, probably relatively cheap comparatively and we are on the up
You’d like to think we are an attractive proposition, but whether we are in actuality is a different matter!

Equally, I’d imagine that current owners have slapped a large price tag on us to wipe their face on the investment
Don’t like what you say, but have to agree with you entirely.

Pity the club and the fans are the last to know the true story.

    Someone must know more.🤞
That's par for the course with everything about OUR club i'm afraid...🤷‍♂️

We are talking about a take over scenario here with commercial sensitivities and confidentiality, active negotiations, uncertainty, and the like - it is par for the course in every organisation in that position.
We do sometimes have a completely unrealistic expectation of transparency.
Exactly. The first we'll find out is some article in The Guardian or The Athletic with a potential bidders name.

It's going to be a long drawn out and complicated process.

I'm sure that's the expected scenario.

Little we can do to influence that process, I guess.

But we don't have to sit here & witness the loss of pride in the way out club is being run ( into the ground ? ) away from the pitch. That's what I'm finding so hard to understand.

Surely a poorly run club, especially if attendances start to noticeably decline, would be apparent to any would be investors or buyers ?

And there's no sign whatsoever of any open communication channels between club & fans despite the mantra we've heard so often in the past.

Is there anybody listening or am I wasting my time ? Doesn't anyone care about the future of ou
    famous football club ?

It’s not right. The fans should be told all possible takeover business before the owners know 😉

What we shouldn’t be told is the owners are all here for the long term and love being involved if it isn’t true.

The owners are not going to put in the money they have to get us to this stage of the project to walk away and let someone else take the glory .. that’s not happening they are committed to the club. .. for the next couple of years to see if we can get to the promised land ….. as we’re told we are looking for investment but so are every other team in the country ……

Gavin Carter literally confirmed a full sale couldn’t be ruled out when he spoke to Rich Cawley.

What supporters would probably want me to ask you is whether there is a scenario where it could be fully sold to a completely new person or group? Is that a possibility?

The ownership group really enjoy owning and progressing Charlton Athletic but every asset has ultimately a price, so I wouldn’t rule that out.

Bit of a difference between 'every asset has a price' and them hiring brokers to try and sell the club imo.

I think just like with a lot of newish football owners that the penny has dropped in as much as you cannot compete even in The Championship without committing to investment of many many millions. I’m guessing that we’re ahead of the curve in what they hoped for and yet still they or at least our biggest investor wants to cut. Unless we invest heavily in the team way beyond current levels then the best we hope for is retaining our Championship status and with luck and extremely favourable tail wind flirt with a promotion. That or hope we can sustain a steady progress over a lot of seasons which is very difficult.  I think a line has been drawn under this ownerships ambition.

Think this is pretty much bang on the money. Got promoted ahead of schedule and now realise after a season at this level that that next step into a genuine playoff contender is going to take a lot more money than they're willing to commit to. It's just a difficult situation when it's the main shareholder that's decided he wants out , I don't know how rich the rest of the consortium is but I would err towards this ultimately ending up being a full sale.

    He we go again!

Thank God we will be protected from any old crackpot buying us by the rigid and in depth rules put in place by the footballing author...it...

Nah, sorry too much bullshit even for me!

At least well have a new takeover thread once the transfer one dies down.

  • I’d guess that if Friedman wants out then there’s not much of a chance that the remaining consortium members will pick up the slack. That effectively means that unless you can replace Friedman like for like, share for share which to me also seems unlikely the. Ultimately we’re looking at a complete change of ownership. The common perception is that there is a lot of interest in general to get involved in English football from the USA. I think it’s probable that if Charlton change hands then the buyer will be USA based. Thing is. Are Charlton a good investment ? There are definitely positives but just as many negatives. Are we more attractive than any other Championship club looking for investment or new owner. I really don’t know. I think our complex ownership is a major stumbling block, that and not owning The Valley. Have we any advantages that trump those two ? I can’t see it.

Does anyone know when any of the owners apart from Gavin Carter last attended a match? Gabriel Brener was at the last home match of last season obviously. Have any attended this season?

    Hi Jean

There are plenty listening but you'll know from your own experience that interest for off the field activities is always low with just a few committed individuals and organisations such as yourself.

You know from my Main Reception Lift posting that I do not disagree with you on some of your points regarding behind the scenes and I am dissapointed that neither fans@ or advocates@ responded. I did get support and thanks from CADSA and a prominent poster on here with links to CAST. So people are listening and they do care. But the overwhelming majority only judge by activities on the field.

Thanks for that response, Kap and your thoughts on the situation.

TBH, I was really sending out an anguished plea to anyone at the club as to whether fans' concerns are being actively dealt with or merely landing on deaf ears...

I believe it's time for CAST to take on this issue of lack of communication & hence, lack of any resolution to our concerns. Many of us pay our annual subs & I always believed that part of their raison d'etre was as a voice on our behalf.

With no mention at all of the various fan groups since the start of the season, this would appear to our only avenue for some form of dialogue with the powers that be....and time may be of the essence with dwindling attendances & matchday issues for those still attending.

If Weegie doesn't respond to my post, then I guess I need to start a new thread to get the ball rolling.

I only hope that others will support this call to action....

It's not a personal "thing" ...It's about the very future of our club at a time when ownership issues are seemingly on the table.

What is needed is almost like a triage number to ring or email address to contact - you contact that and only that and the onus is then on the person at the club on the other end to pass it on to the appropriate person. One of the problems atm is there are all sorts of different emails and numbers and you've no idea if they are still functioning, right for what you are asking or just looked at and ignored. If the club could put out one contact and one only then at least you know you've hit the spot. Chasing up a message repeatedly and having no idea who, if anybody is on the other end and you just end up giving up. Put somebody in charge and then at least if they fob you off, you know you're being fobbed off.

Put somebody in charge and then at least if they fob you off, you know you're being fobbed off.
There is one, it’s fans@. The issue is that it’s effectiveness is inconsistent at best
  • Changing tack for a moment. I suspect that there isn’t anything happening beyond a couple of agencies touting the club to people / groups that might be interested. I think if there was anything very much beyond that then we would have heard a rumour or it would have leaked somewhere in the media. I also suspect that this will be the status for quite some time.
