Can you people stick to talking about the game that's just happened rather than your weird obsession with one poster on this forum. If you don't like his points ignore them and move on. Childish. There's genuinely about 5-7 of you that need to do something better with your Sundays.16

Probably bored by the F1, i took the opportunity to help apply for girlfriend's ESTA which was also mind numbingly tedious.I find if you can find three or four mind numbingly tedious tasks to do simultaneously it becomes a bit interesting. Maybe that displacement activity is what's happening here.1

All Leaburn needs is a goal. Once that clicks we havee some player on our hands. I think it will happen before November is over.Grant, TC and Leaburn scoring will be something to behold. We have a manager who does actually improve players , long may it continue.12

I’m apparently in the minority here being that I’m buzzing with our league position and how we’ve got here.Last year we lose 3 in a row, I’m so sure of that. This year despite not playing very well we’ve consistently picked up points while having significant numbers out with injury. It’s been a great start to the season and I hope it’ll only improve.30

Yesterday left us all a bit frustrated, as it was a game we could and should have won.
So I thought the following stats might put things in context.
After 7 games last season we had 8 points, this season we have 12.
However, if you look at the actual results against the same teams last season (with West Ham replacing Coventry) we only got 2 points from those 7 fixtures.
I know football's not that simple and its a long season, but it's got to be a good sign that we've got a better result in 4 of our 7 games, and the same result in the other 3.
And that's while having a lot of players unavailable.

Why the f**k was he signed then? And don't give me bollocks about being for the future, he's on the bench, he's not playing for the U21s today. He was meant to be the next best option after the Rak-Sakyi deal fell through, and he's yet to even make an appearance. We are suffering immensely without having a right wing option. I don't expect any answer from NJ as all we get is silly jokes about cats and how bad refs areAlwaysneil said:Jones didnt make any subs because he thought the players on the pitch, even though knackered, were more likely to score/less likely to concede than changing the shape slightly with players from the bench.
he just doesnt trust Knibbs, Rankin-Costello, Carey, Mwamba, Ouma, Nkeng to not fuck up of given 20-30 mins.I have some sympathy with that but would probably have taken grant and alli off sooner.4 -
I think Grant is a different level to JRC, Knibbs and Carey. He’s not a number 10 though, which isn’t entirely his fault.Athletico Charlton said:Getting really fed up with watching teams target Leaburn, week after week. They can't cope with him and just resort to constant fouls everytime he gets the ball yet he gets absolutely zero protection from the referees.
Stoke was the absolute nadir of that, especially when Madley then booked Leaburn first. It's a disgrace really.
Leaburn was superb today, hopefully he can get himself into a goal scoring groove, if he could get 12-15 this season we would have a very very valuable player on our hands.
Campbell was excellent too, swung a great ball for Alli to score (but he didn't), and put lots of other decent balls in. He isn't perfect but if he was he wouldn't have with us.
Thought Skipp and Coventry looked excellent together. We badly miss a good number 10, Grant, JRC, Knibbs, Carey; none are good enough sadly. Hopefully we find a way to fix that in January.
We have had an excellent start to the season.3 -

And that's the problem, because there should not be. Why does it happen, because refs are human beings and succumb to caution especially if the incident comes late in the game and likely to decide it. VAR was supposed to come in and help them. They could take the braver decision knowing if they were wrong, VAR would allow them to get off the hook graciously.fenaddick said:

Nevertheless I used a sharp tone there because his remark is exactly an example of what is bugging me. It implies that if I just fall into line and subscribe to Sky, I will get what I am asking for. But even if I bowed down and paid my dues to the Sky money machine I still would not get the coverage we all should expect, the old Charlton TV package which was tailored to our interests as committed Charlton fans.
Anyway I see ,thanks to @Dansk_Red post above, that Sky have now kindly permitted the Club to replace the 2 minute package they had up last night with a 10 minute one which shows the incident. And I'm looking at a clear penalty, whereas some dork in the EFL's Osterley "superstudio" in his dubbed -after-the-event commentary, doesn't think so. But does not then go on to ask why the ref didn't book Miles for simulation.
"Allo, allo, fucking useless, fucking useless".
It hasn't worked out that way in the PL and as a result you are all against any VAR at all in the Championship. So shit decisions like yesterday will continue. But I'll say it again and keep on saying it, what you are against is not the tech called VAR but the way it has been deployed by the goons running the Premier League in close collaboration with the TV companies. It really doesn't have to be that way, and it isn't in other leagues. I've double-checked my assumptions about the Czech league but they were correct. We could easily have a stripped-down version like they have that would have clarified that penalty yesterday in a minute or so. If you are interested here is ChatGPT reviewing my assumptions.

I do not think that is true at all. I do not believe Nkeng was signed to be a Rak-Sakyi substitute. He was signed as an investment for the future, and might well have been signed later on, whether or not we signed a first-team right-winger. The reasons we moved to do it quickly were that (1) we unexpectedly had the cash available because JR-S fell through, and (2) as a sop to disappointed fans. And not that NJ thought that Nkeng could come in and immediately do the job which he wanted R-S to do. He ain't that stupid. After all, Nkeng rarely starts for Wimbledon in League One,DDOUBLEE said:

If the JR-S deal is permanently dead in the water, I expect NJ to try and sign a Championship-level right-side player in the next window if the funds and the slot are available. If we revert to 5-3-2, it will be a wing-back rather than winger.
Nkeng was on the bench Saturday because we are short of players. Once we are near to full-strength, I expect him to play for u21s, though often train with the seniors. Same for Tiiitinen.5 -
