Can't agree when Skipp and Coventry were our two best players
Imagine if we had the three to choose from though
Then some people will still say we should play with Cov & Skipp and be happy with no creative midfielder.
I take it you didn’t see Skipps pass for the TC “offside” goal in the week then? Or Coventry opening up the space for a goal earlier in the season? I know you didn’t see any of the creative work they did today because you didn’t watch the match but still want to criticise them!
I really do love the way you (and a few others) continually pick over my posts & get it wrong.

No where in that post did I criticise either Coventry or Skipp. I merely pointed out that if you are going to play Chalobah then one of them has to drop out.

But you carry on with your agenda.
So nobody is “picking” on you - they are responding to what are I think deliberately provocative, relentlessly nagative, narcissistic, and mostly incorrect posts, which seem to delight in any perceived mistakes and even dig out the team and manager when they have won and put in a good shift. If anyone has an agenda I think it’s you. You have deliberately and systematically cast yourself as a pantomime villain without any conspiracy from other posters. You post to provoke and it’s very clear you seem to enjoy mixing it and somehow enjoy others mostly negative responses, although how and why is beyond me. Trolls gotta troll I guess.

Perhaps we should all stop responding to you and you might stop.

Don’t feed the troll - Which you are the definition of by the way.

I am definitely not a troll & my opinions are just as valid as any other.

Maybe its because I've been supporting this club for 50 years that I can remember the 80's & 90's where you were entertained & saw goalmouth action on s weekly basis.

I've been mulling things over during the night & I'm seriously thinking about packing it in. I love coming on here and reading opposing views & its amazing how people at the some match can see things entirely differently. But the grief I get from a great number of posts  (and its usually from the same posters) just arent worth it anymore. I may stick around for the Cardiff game but I will take the 3 week "International break" as my cue to leave.

    Yawn
Slightly unnecessary i feel, we all think golfie is a bit of a wind up at times but entitled to his views, which will grate with some i've no doubt, let's see where we are after the int break and go from there eh...

I was sitting in the upper West nearly in line and had a great view unlike anyone in the NORTH stand where you just can't see offsides unless it is by many yards.

Grant couldn't go for the ball as he would've been offside so when Campbell was given offside, it was a case of the Ass ref not being able to distinguish between a black guy TC with dreadlocks and a mixed race man Karlan, with a cropped hair cut.
I think the ref gave it, not the lino which is why it was such a frustrating decision. Once the ref gave it the lino put the flag up.

Really ! I can't see how that is possible in the pro game because a ref can't see from one side of the pitch to the another at the same time unless he has eyes in the back of his head.🤔
Does happen in part time and park football because of immobile Ass refs.

There was about 50 people around me shouting wrong man on the offside but they may just have been agreeing with me as I sounded adamant 🗣️

Yea apologies. Posted on a hangover and a bit unnecessary.

Just read at least 2 other posts like that in the past where he’s threatening to leave the site due to other people’s opinions of his posts, only for him to post another whiny message the following week.

    Its all boringly predictable.

By all means you can say we've had good results so far, but any use of the table in September is low IQ moronic stuff.
Underlying numbers are telling a story that we will see if we can improve by December.
  • I don't think Alli should start games, as with all 3 "experienced" wingers on the pitch, we had no sub winger to bring on yesterday other than the raw Nkeng, who would be a risk defensively, when you look at the amount of tracking back our current forwards do.

The Knibbs situation is getting ridiculous. I don't especially rate him BUT last season, the one thing he did do was come off the bench to score crucial goals or create chaos. He's a nuisance in the penalty box, and a goal threat when you're lumping the ball in or have corners.

Indeed when you're lumping it in, he's far more of a threat than Kelman, who yesterday looked a bit lost out there.

I've been really impressed with Okonkwo's handling, the calmness he brings to the defence as he so often is able to catch shots hit at him, rather than just pushing them away into danger. I'd be really keen to make his move permanent, as he's clearly our undisputed No 1 now. NJ's digs at Kaminski feel a bit unnecessary. If a player is disappointing, then part of the blame surely lies at the people who signed him anyway.

Jones didnt make any subs because he thought the players on the pitch, even though knackered, were more likely to score/less likely to concede than changing the shape slightly with players from the bench.

he just doesnt trust Knibbs, Rankin-Costello, Carey, Mwamba, Ouma, Nkeng to not fuck up of given 20-30 mins.

I have some sympathy with that but would probably have taken grant and alli off sooner.
Exactly. Leaburn, Campbell and Grant when knackered are still better players than Knibbs, Carey, Rankin-Costello, etc. when fresh. We are lumbered with a batch of inferior players we brought in summer before last. However, I would still have made subs sooner to protect Grant and Leaburn. We would be lost without them for a prolonged spell.

What £39.50 a ticket gets you. 18,836 for a Saturday game against Pompey, with a full away, is terrible, especially considering the start we have made.
There isn’t the interest , I think if you make it £20 the numbers wouldn’t be much greater, make it free and people still wouldn’t bother .
The football to a neutral is dull , we love it cos we’re Charlton nutbags who will watch any old shit in a Charlton shirt.
There will be more interest though, not saying how much, but believe it or not, there are people that have to consider costs and can’t afford the current prices to watch football live, I personally think that’s a shame.

Why the f**k was he signed then? And don't give me bollocks about being for the future, he's on the bench, he's not playing for the U21s today. He was meant to be the next best option after the Rak-Sakyi deal fell through, and he's yet to even make an appearance. We are suffering immensely without having a right wing option. I don't expect any answer from NJ as all we get is silly jokes about cats and how bad refs are

Haven’t seen a replay of the pen shout, however if it  wasn’t, then that makes me pretty disappointed in Leaburn because that means he was free to put the ball away, in turn meaning he needs confidence in his ability. It looked like a push whilst he was looking up at the ball and would have done well to know someone was going to push him such was his concentration on the ball, which is why IMO I thought it was a pen.

If you have a VPN you can set it to the US and get a 10 min highlight package for every game on the CBS Sports Golazo (I know, cringe) YouTube channel.

This has the Leaburn penalty shout in it at about 7:40.

Dont go mate dont let the bullies see you off. I find your views are one of the honest and realistic here and to the point as you see it, I have read most of the posts here and you would think by some of them it was a goal fest of 5-5 draws, not the bore fest the last 2 games have been. There were a lot of frustrated fans around me yesterday.

I had it for years on the political threads and note some of the same are giving you stick. I wouldn't have it and they hated that i stood my ground against them.

This forum is about opinions and all are valid remember that.

Yes agree, hang in golfie, there are some on here with very high opinions of themselves, apparently I sounded like a knob last week by one of them, because I stupidly reacted to someone , with a few agreeing because I didn’t tow the line.  That’s fine because that type of stuff is why these places are called sesspits.i don’t always agree with you, but  Keep having you’re opinion if people don’t like it and have to be abusive, that says more about them and they’re little clique of mates.👍

We’re much improved on last seasons dross but we’re missing that X factor (JRS may have provided)
There’s no real spark, proper graft , 100% effort and can’t knock them for trying .
We should stay up but just like this time last season I’ll be looking down not up because we offer limited goal threat.
I like Skipp and he has a touch of class about him .

    0%    Top 2
    0%      3-4
    0.5%    5-6
    1.5%      7-8
    6%    9-12
    84%    13-21
    8%    The big R

Agreed - jrs would have been absolutely perfect to add that x factor / provide that bit of unscripted maverick play that we need, particularly at home. Our football was good in the first half but predictable. We went off script once and into Leaburn's feet and he spun and put somebody in - it was noticeable because we don't normally do it - i can count probably half a dozen times in the last 2 years we've done that - 'going inside and putting the ball at risk' is what NJ would consider that but that's partly because we don't have the players with the touch and awareness to be able to trust playing those balls to - low risk football, its served us well but we have to add those players to get to the 'next level'.

I'd give chalobah a go in the 'hole' position once fit in those type of home games. Leave doc and cov to do the security work and see if he can get on the ball and provide a bit of magic.

Golfie, you are narcissist and you love people responding to your views even though you are predictable with your negative Stance but you are entitled to your opinions like the rest of us.
You will also be correct on some occasions as we do fail to achieve our goals or score our goals.

I find it really embarrassing when a poster says they are going to leave Charlton Life 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏼‍♀️

I know we all have ego's, I certainly do, but no one cares if I go AWOL or any other poster by choice. If they pass on then we pay our respects.

I would expect you to like this post Golfie as it's about you.
  • Sometime think that people just need to remember that if you air your views out loud especially on a message board such as this... Then yes you're entitled to your opinion... But I've always seen it as an invitation to open debate into that opinion... Regardless if its criticism or whether its out of blind positivity... Yes it should never get abusive, but if I have an opinion I dont want to argue with people over... I simply keep it to myself

Just FYI, you won't find me involved in any anti- Golfie football pile-ons. We have a professional relationship, which I value. And btw in that relationship he bears no resemblance to his football persona here.

Nevertheless I used a sharp tone there because his remark is exactly an example of what is bugging me. It implies that if I just fall into line and subscribe to Sky, I will get what I am asking for. But even if I bowed down and paid my dues to  the Sky money machine I still would not get the coverage we all should expect,  the old Charlton TV package which was tailored to our interests as committed Charlton fans.

Anyway I see ,thanks to @Dansk_Red post above, that Sky have now kindly permitted the Club to replace the 2 minute package they had up last night with a 10 minute one which shows the incident.

And I'm looking at a clear penalty, whereas some dork in the EFL's Osterley "superstudio" in his dubbed -after-the-event commentary, doesn't think so. But does not then go on to ask why the ref didn't book Miles for simulation.

"Allo, allo, fucking useless, fucking useless".

I am sorry but you are absolutely mental if you think that is a clear penalty. He is never in a million years getting that, and you'd be livid if it went against us.

golfie is right with a lot of what he says but gets stick as he doesn't put it in the context of where nj has taken us from and our budget and the monster league we are in and all that other 'stuff' - a lot of me agrees with golfie though - its a shame that in the second tier, a division we were always comfortable in and always managed to put out attacking attractive teams even when skint that we now have to be so thankful for a dull, defensive style. It is what it is and the alternative is worse but it would be nice to go to the valley and see some free flowing football and goals. We're evolving, lets hope we evolve some more, quickly.
