  • Isn’t the issue that the goal was given as offside as the linesman flagged thinking Harland was offside. It was subsequently found that Haarland wasn’t offside. Therefore the linesman had made an error so the goal was given. Do we really then want to go back and ref the game again to find another reason to rule the goal out? How far back into the move do you go? What if everything else was ok but a Man Utd player was fouled on the halfway line?

I don’t like VAR, I’m happy to accept the officials are sometimes wrong and make wrong decisions. I’d rather live with that than VAR intervene excessively.
Or did the Lino put flag up when Fernandez tries a diving header for the ball?

Per IFAB Law 11, a player in an offside position can be penalised for clearly attempting to play the ball (or other obvious actions) if it impacts an opponent, even without touching it.

The flag goes up for Fernandez. I’m sure ProRef will concoct a story in the next few hours

It's ludicrous in the richest league in the world, how often VAR seems to get decisions wrong, and we get these statements a few hours later.

And wrong, not because they go against "common sense", but wrong because they go against their own rules and guidelines.

And because a big team has complained about it.

Excuse the cynicism, but I’m not convinced there’d be such an uproar if this had happened to, say, Fulham or Ipswich.

Michael Oliver is the highest rated referee in the Premier with the retirement of Antony Taylor.
Oliver must know the 4 sections on interfering with play by a player in an offside decision by heart.
Oliver has been the referee in 546 matches in Premier, WC and top European matches as he is a busy guy.
He knows every rule inside out.

Yet somehow he let a Video assistant referee called Matt Donohue, who didn't understand the rules on interfering with Play tell him the goal was going to be allowed despite Enzo clearing driving for the ball in an offside position which the defender was affected by.

Donohue was a Linesman(Ass ref) who thought he would try being a ref. He has been the referee in 5 Premier matches before being fast tracked to be a Video assistant referee.

Now I don't care if you hate Man united, Arsenal or like me Chelsea; that was a shocking decision and Neville was right that an apology from PGMOL(or is pro ref different ?)would be issued to United by late Sunday Evening, and it was.

  • Premier League referee Michael Oliver received a £20,000 payment in September 2023 to officiate a match in the United Arab Emirates' ADNOC Pro League, an arrangement arranged through state connections linked to Manchester City's ownership

Genuinely wonder if Jaissle sees out his first season honestly. Would be harsh given its his first season and having to try and follow up/rebuild after Howe chucked it in but Newcastle really do look poor.

Brighton - fantastic performance against Arsenal.
    Those shirts though. Ridiculous.

Also, I wonder if Arsenal will do their usual thing of starting a ruck at the final whistle when they lose?

I quite liked them, it's for their 125th anniversary. If i was a Brighton fan i'd definitely buy it.

If you’d be willing to fork out £150 for what looks like, depending on how close you are, either a plain polo shirt or that you’re wearing it inside out, but on the understanding that there’s only 1901 of them and you have to get the gift box and the other peripheral shit that came with it, only to find out later that they’re selling more of them for £80 without any of the extras and it’s not the limited edition you thought it was, then that’s your prerogative.
    😂

WTF are Man U moaning at the ref about at the end?
The hand ball for the penalty shout I presume.
I don't know the laws as they change so often.
Yes the ball was smashed at the Fulham player from very close range BUT the Fulham player put both hands up to protect himself and the ball hit his hands,
If that's not deliberate handball any more - well ...

That was much less of a handball than what Harry Maguire got away with the other week, so they can piss off.
  • Man U v Spurs after the international break.

Whoever loses that is going to be under serious pressure.
