    Chalobah is a big miss.
Can't agree when Skipp and Coventry were our two best players
Imagine if we had the three to choose from though
Then some people will still say we should play with Cov & Skipp and be happy with no creative midfielder.
I take it you didn’t see Skipps pass for the TC “offside” goal in the week then? Or Coventry opening up the space for a goal earlier in the season? I know you didn’t see any of the creative work they did today because you didn’t watch the match but still want to criticise them!
I really do love the way you (and a few others) continually pick over my posts & get it wrong.

No where in that post did I criticise either Coventry or Skipp. I merely pointed out that if you are going to play Chalobah then one of them has to drop out.

But you carry on with your agenda.
So nobody is “picking” on you - they are responding to what are I think deliberately provocative, relentlessly nagative, narcissistic, and mostly incorrect posts, which seem to delight in any perceived mistakes and even dig out the team and manager when they have won and put in a good shift. If anyone has an agenda I think it’s you. You have deliberately and systematically cast yourself as a pantomime villain without any conspiracy from other posters. You post to provoke and it’s very clear you seem to enjoy mixing it and somehow enjoy others mostly negative responses, although how and why is beyond me. Trolls gotta troll I guess.

Perhaps we should all stop responding to you and you might stop.

Don’t feed the troll - Which you are the definition of by the way.

I am definitely not a troll & my opinions are just as valid as any other.

Maybe its because I've been supporting this club for 50 years that I can remember the 80's & 90's where you were entertained & saw goalmouth action on s weekly basis.

I've been mulling things over during the night & I'm seriously thinking about packing it in. I love coming on here and reading opposing views & its amazing how people at the some match can see things entirely differently. But the grief I get from a great number of posts  (and its usually from the same posters) just arent worth it anymore. I may stick around for the Cardiff game but I will take the 3 week "International break" as my cue to leave.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
The issue is that virtually all of your opinions are negative and many incorrect.
Sorry I know I'm blunt, but I'm likely saying what the majority are thinking.

Anyone fancy Elliott Lee for the 10 role?
    Free agent, still only 31.
I know he blew hot and cold last time around, but he's now more experienced and would be slotting into a better side.
We've struck gold with Arthur and Cody wasn't too bad either!
Excellent shout. Elliot Lee moving the ball wide to the on rushing fevrier to hit pinpoint crosses on to Chuks head. Dream team

Yet another result corrupted by inept officials.
Any contact from behind, however gentle, however accidental, however minimal the impediment to the victim results in a free kick for the infringement countless times in every match.
But not of course in the penalty area when a striker has a chance to score.
Kitchen was guilty of this heinous dumfuckery.
The pompey bloke stuck two hands in the small of Miles's back.
Whether it was forceful enough to impede him let alone tip him over IS IRRELEVANT.
Coventry bumped into a slowing opponent moments later and obviously loud blast on the whistle - free kick Portsmouth.
Oli Skipp comically dropped to his knees, falling over the ball after a featherlight touch from behind by an opponent, Kitchen shrugged and reluctantly gave Charlton the free kick, because being challenged from behind with no contact on the ball by the challenger is a transgression for which a free kick is prescribed.

Whether the chosen Addick would have scored is not guaranteed of course but Kitchen erased the integrity of the game by denying us that chance.  Just as Wednesday night's disgrace to the game did with the late pull back on Karlan Grant.

These game ruining lowlifes need calling out for their corruption, each and every time they choose to fuck up what we pay so much money to go and see.

Not that it bothers me much...😂
Thank you to the spokesman for the Referees' Association for that statement.
I don't think they're corrupt, just brain dead -the act of getting yourself in front of an oncoming defender, slowing down so he has to run into you, feeling the slightest touch and going down like a sack of shit is one of the most regular and annoying guaranteed free kicks in the game today - pathetic. Just like the shit about 'he didn't pull him enough' or ' he only had his arms round him for 3 seconds rather than 4' F**king rubbish - shouldn't be grey areas with this crap - give free kicks for it or don't - its not difficult - pull somebody or hug somebody and its a foul - deliberately slow down so an oncoming defender runs into the back of you and its obstruction and a free kick to the defender - very very simple. Refs and lino's are getting worse as are the rules they have to try and follow
Add to that the sticking-the-leg-across-the-defender-so-that-they-kick-it scenario ... that's another one that annoys the crap out of me, whoever does it.
Agreed - refs need to take a step back and use some common sense with all this - another one is if a player reacts to deliberate provocation - 9 times out of 10 he gets punished and the instigator gets off scott free

Unfortunately there is no common sense in officiating these days as it's been legislated out of the game. There are laws that have to be adhered to otherwise the assessor in the stand - who are also adhering to a set of laws/rules/whatever - will mark them down and may stop them getting future matches.

"Game sense", "common sense", "spider sense" or any  other kind of "sense" doesn't come into it. The officials can hide behind some words that will cover their collective arses despite anyone else watching thinking WTF was that?

And Simon Francis and Leon Clarke had none!

Lee has built a highly successful career since moving to Wrexham and many of their fans are now saying that he shouldn't have been frozen out and are calling for his reinstatement.

Successful, experienced, well aged, attacking midfielders that are available for nothing, are few and far between.

I'm not saying he'd be the answer, that's for Chapel and Jones to decide, I'm saying that we need a specialist in that particular position to tie the team together.

It is not Grant's best position, Carey is completely off form, but even on form, his decision making and positional sense is lacking, Muamba has great promise, but has a long way to go.
Ouma perhaps, but the early signs haven't been good.

We need need to find an answer, because a lack of chances/goals, may cost us badly.
I cannot see the answer within the current squad.
I hope someone steps up and proves me wrong.

The problem is that none of the refs have played the game at any serious level and don't know what is going on? They know the 'rules' per se, but cannot see what players are doing to hoodwink them and buy free kicks and pens etc.
Seems to me  so easy to address but cannot see it happening. VAR is overseeing the refs and re-refereing things in the Prem. Don't want that on this league

It would be good if the EFL voted to introduce VAR on their terms if they legally could. I think a type of appeal system where every team gets one appeal per game for decisions that relate directly to a goal or sending off. Something that materially affects a game. Of course if they are proven right, they keep the appeal. What this would achieve is to make things fairer, not perfect which is always going to be unachievable. Cricket has navigated that issue without a problem in that if a team has used up its appeals, even if the decision is wrong, it can't be changed and nobody has a problem with it.

The only problem I can see with such a system is that there will be more late appeals where the risk of losing it may not be so great with less time to go in the match. The only solution to this would be a panel that looks at teams who make too many spurios appeals and removes their appeal for a couple of games if found guilty.

I think this would have been a good thing as many of the EFL referees are clearly not up to it.

Not really related, but why is Bobby Madley still reffing? He was sacked and rightfully so. If most of us were sacked for what he did then there wouldn't be a way back in our careers. Why does time allow him one? And he is a crap referee to boot who makes the game all about him so why the desperation to have him back?

Whether or not we have had a few decisions go against us so far this season, I hope we never see VAR at EFL level.

  • I think this would have been a good thing as many of the EFL referees are clearly not up to it.

Surely the problem is that if the referees aren't fit for purpose, what hope do the even less trusted VAR officials have?
  • I wonder if a "VAR lite" might be a good thing.  The game itself is not stopped.  But at half and full time, a review can be conducted for just two serious things:

    - goals which should/should not have been allowed/disallowed
    - red cards

I guess then you might get the situation that a player will just continue when the offside flag is up regardless of how obvious it is .... but decisions like that surely can't continue.

Imagine heading for a drink at HT pleased with the current 0-0, then get back to your seat to find it’s been changed to 2-0 down and you only have 10 men for second half. That idea would never work. It’s frustrating enough having to wait 2-5 minutes for a VAR review, having VAR change the scoreline at HT or FT would be a nightmare.

VAR was meant to be for clear and obvious errors (ball out for a corner by 2 yards not given (eg stoke) , ball over the goal line, clear foul, referee's unsighted etc etc  - its now getting involved in all sorts of other stuff - if it can't be analysed by VAR in 10 seconds, its not clear and obvious and original decision should stand - really is that simple.

Imagine heading for a drink at half time gutted that you are down to ten men and drawing 0-0 after two definitely not offside goals, then get back to your seat and the red card has been shown to be erroneous and rescinded and both goals allowed as they were seen to be clearly onside 🤷

Honestly though, how many times are that many decisions going to be looked at by half time?  Very few.

I am.  As long as it's done immediately , before players leave the field, an obviously incorrectly ruled out goal should be allowed.

Your suggestion would fundamentally change football, a game that is based on how you react to situations in the moment.

What happens if a team has a player sent off on 35 mins and their opponent scores on 42 mins? Does that goal get wiped out because the red shouldn't have happened? Seems unfair you might lose because you were incorrectly down to 10 men for 10 minutes. And what about losing the game AFTER full time? No one would be able to celebrate anything until they were on the train home

If you have to have a system that looks at decisions it has to be instant. That doesn't seem to work very well so it's better not to have anything

I wonder if a "VAR lite" might be a good thing.

Seems unfair you might lose because a legit goal was incorrectly ruled out.  Take your pick.

Edit: You've also made up other situations there that are nothing to do with what I mentioned.  If you got a man sent off, went a goal down, then got your man back, that is a good thing.  You can at least have a fair chance of evening up again.

So you'd rather wait 10 minutes after a game to know the result?

I doubt it would even take that, but yeah, if it means the correct result.  I doubt it would happen every week

In the last few Charlton fixtures you've had: Potential Leaburn penalty (FT review, does everyone go back on the pitch?), Danny Mac second yellow (FT), Stoke penalty (HT), TC offside goal (HT) just off the top of my head.

Beyond all of that what an awful experience it would be for fans to leave the stadium not knowing the result. I've heard some awful VAR suggestions but this one is the worst by miles so fair play for that
