Rather like most fans eh….😉fenaddick said:
Are you suggesting the outcome of a game could be decided AFTER the full time whistle?ArmchairAddick said:I wonder if a "VAR lite" might be a good thing. The game itself is not stopped. But at half and full time, a review can be conducted for just two serious things:- goals which should/should not have been allowed/disallowed- red cardsI guess then you might get the situation that a player will just continue when the offside flag is up regardless of how obvious it is .... but decisions like that surely can't continue.1 -
People are stressing about VAR… just scrap it and go back to proper refereeing, even after VAR decisions, fans are still arguing down the pub about minute discrepancies, so no difference to before VAR really.
just a waste of time the whole thing…🤷♂️9 -

In the last few Charlton fixtures you've had: Potential Leaburn penalty (FT review, does everyone go back on the pitch?), Danny Mac second yellow (FT), Stoke penalty (HT), TC offside goal (HT) just off the top of my head.ArmchairAddick said:fenaddick said:
So you'd rather wait 10 minutes after a game to know the result?ArmchairAddick said:I don't it would even have that, butfenaddick said:
Your suggestion would fundamentally change football, a game that is based on how you react to situations in the moment.ArmchairAddick said:stoneroses19 said:
Imagine heading for a drink at HT pleased with the current 0-0, then get back to your seat to find it’s been changed to 2-0 down and you only have 10 men for second half. That idea would never work. It’s frustrating enough having to wait 2-5 minutes for a VAR review, having VAR change the scoreline at HT or FT would be a nightmare.ArmchairAddick said:I wonder if a "VAR lite" might be a good thing. Very few.
What happens if a team has a player sent off on 35 mins and their opponent scores on 42 mins? Does that goal get wiped out because the red shouldn't have happened? Seems unfair you might lose because you were incorrectly down to 10 men for 10 minutes. And what about losing the game AFTER full time? No one would be able to celebrate anything until they were on the train home
If you have to have a system that looks at decisions it has to be instant. That doesn't seem to work very well so it's better not to have anything
Seems unfair you might lose because a legit goal was incorrectly ruled out. Take your pick.
I doubt it would even take that, but yeah, if it means the correct result. I doubt it would happen every week
Beyond all of that what an awful experience it would be for fans to leave the stadium not knowing the result. I've heard some awful VAR suggestions but this one is the worst by miles so fair play for that
Out of all those examples TCs offside is the only one that would be affected.3 -
Football matches are completely dictated by changes in momentum and energy. A goal completely changes a game and the way the players react afterwards. There is absolutely no way you can just tack on goals and remove red cards after the fact. Take the Stoke game for instance; we were in the ascendancy, having shots and forcing corners then we had a harsh penalty given at a corner and completely collapsed. The momentum totally shifted and Stoke punished us with three quick goals. What would your VAR lite say, that you come back at the start of the second half and get told it's actually only 3-0 because the penalty was overturned? Who does that help? The effect of that dodgy penalty wasn't just the first goal, it was the way the players panicked and then conceded 3 more because they were upset about the decision. I think it might be the worst idea I've ever seen.ArmchairAddick said:I wonder if a "VAR lite" might be a good thing. The game itself is not stopped. Why would the penalty be overturned by what I suggested?Garrymanilow said:

As an idea at 11pm when you've had 10 pints, its fine. In the cold light of day its absolutely nuts and would destroy the game as a spectacle.2

Hundred percent. The only retroactive VAR oversight should be for diving or serious foul play that was missed by the ref and the game went on. Would like to see retroactive yellows and reds given for these.ArmchairAddick said:
I am. As long as it's done immediately , before players leave the field, an obviously incorrectly ruled out goal should be allowed.fenaddick said:

And now cant even keep it tight with skipp and Coventrycs1986 said:
And we will continue to not score goals or create chances. Enjoy!DDOUBLEE said:
Well...we can, we should, and we willcs1986 said:That was a penalty on leaburn at end. Clear. But we should of took our chances before then.
We cant play skipp and Coventry together at home. No creativity and they dont move ball quick enough.
Love Leaburns displays but wish he would attack the near post especially when Tyreece is crossing.0
