It's interesting to reflect that, had Mahmud been allowed to stay, we might well have left Ahmed out for Dudgeon in this game. To date, Ahmed has 6-42 and there is absolutely no guarantee that Mahmud would have beaten that.

I was just in the Oriole Cafe waiting for my flat white, and I looked out the door just as Khaled had Jennings taken by Zak Crawley in the slips. A good morning so far.

Northants are 76-0 off 32 overs so a very solid start but they are certainly not racing and are still 296 runs behind. I would much rather be in our position.

Is Evison injured? He played for Sussex against Somerset (4 runs and 0-22 & 2-40 with the ball) on 27th August but hasn't appeared for you since.

Let’s hope the break enables us to take wickets as happened yesterday

I can see Northants getting batting points here.
But they might not win. Our game is more advanced than theirs and there is rain predicted tomorrow and possibly on Saturday. Three, four or even five extra batting points won't make up the difference between us, hopefully, winning and them drawing.
    Let’s hope so.
Although the forecast for Northampton tomorrow looks pretty good so they might well get a full day's play.

Nope, in the squad but not selected. Gone with Tom Price in that All-rounder role this week and the past 2 we've got 3 seamers and Carson with Haines mediums as the fourth seamer and played the extra bat in Leaning

Rumours Price is off back to Glocs anyway.

Northants are now 102-1 off 46 overs. Vasoncelos the man to go and his former partner, Proctor, appears to have already settled for a draw with 34* off 128 balls

    Vasoncelos gone
I might have expressed that a bit ambiguously but that is what I said.

Northants 114-1 (51) and still 258 runs behind. They aren't getting maximum batting points at that rate! Proctor is on 43* off 145 balls

I think the mighty Northants are looking for the draw and hoping you lot lose. Big gamble...

Tea is going to be a bit later than the scheduled 15.10. All the bowling has been done by the four quicks so there are still 38 overs left to bowl today.

One over of Bertie Foreman before tea, which is taken about 35 minutes late. Hopefully he will get a few more in the final session, otherwise I’m going to be late home for my horlicks!
