It is gonna be a massive fine, a ban for a couple of transfer windows, and a suspended or low level points deduction

I think the fairest punishment is whatever game they have on Saturday, any team, should be awarded as a 7-0 loss to whoever they're playing and we call it quits there.

A price worth paying if you want to launder billions of oil money sportswashing your country. It needs to be points deductions for each cheating incident - it’s cheating.

I think the PL will try to go fairly hard with the punishment otherwise it isn't worth the millions and millions they've spent on the case

Can't see the PL doing a lot seeing as they suck the ball sacks of club owners like those at Man City. Reckon they'll get a strongly worded letter with a PS note to ask them to use less talc around their gooch going forward
  • I think they're in massive massive trouble here. This could destroy the club......

Boycies Laugh on Make a GIF
  • Man city will get a record fine of like 60/70 million, maybe a 10 point deduction the next season, City will appeal saying its unfair then a few months quietly withdraw the appeal and just see it as a tax on cheating

I doubt any punishment will be meaningful.

The past cant be changed and fines are derisory for a club of City’s wealth.

Exactly - so relegate them and then hit them with a 40 point deduction suspended for when they are next in the Prem. Oh and banned from taking parachute payments.

They will be forced to sell their high earners with almost two guaranteed years of non prem football.

The only fit punishment is to send Haaland, Doku, Foden, Anderson, Guehi, Gvardiol & O'Reilly on loan to Charlton for the rest of the season.
I don't think Anderson plays ahead of Skipp and Coventry. Ditto Guehi versus Bindon.

Fines all count in financial regulations too so big fines would really hit hard

Would soon become Charltonised, but we might just avoid relegation.

We can only have five loans in a match day squad

The PL are a bunch of handwringing old women. No balls at all.
What  will happen is a points deduction for each season, (If they won the league by 3 points  2 points deduction.
If they won by 5points 4 points deduction)

    What would fit the crime.
Expulsion from the PL and all results  to be realigned  3-0 to their opponents.
Any PL titles won since 2009, to be stripped.
FA Cup wins to be stripped.
Fine of £100 mil. (Remember when you get clipped for speeding the Magistrate can take into account you financial position )
All Board members to be required to reapply for "Person of Goodstanding"
Re-entry to EFL2 when fines paid and conditions met.

If titles were won through cheating then those titles should be stripped.
This a huge moment for the future of the PL. I hope the FA have the strength to punish them appropriately.

Exactly thats why they will get a record fine so it gives the appearance of punishment, they may get a 10/12 point deduction from this/next season but it just means they probably wont win the league that year.

It has to be remembered that the club ownership model in premier league means the league and most of the other clubs dont want too see city punished too harshly. However you want to look at it, City make the premier league more appealing which means the clubs in the Prem get more money through TV rights. Its basically the whole US ownership model

The key United Nations provision protecting individuals from cruel and unusual punishment is Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

100% and City will appeal then quitely withdraw so it looks like they have been punished.

Spurs missed out on CL qualification to City 5 times between 10/11 and 14/15.

How much do they estimate the CL to be every season to teams? £150m?

So thats £750m Spurs have missed out on as a rough estimate.

What other clubs missed out on Europa League further down the table?

What clubs were relegated by points taken off of them by Man City.  Thats a minimum £150m just for being in the PL, if not more.

Everton & Forest lost points due to FFP.

That a huge can of litigation worms just opened up.

I tell you what, £750m + compounded interest, we'll take Haaland and £1bn cash and I'll think about forgiving them.

Oh and Ryan Mason wants his League Cup trophy haha

They shouldn't be the EFL's problem if they are bombed out of the Premier League either (although I'm sure that will not happen).
If it did happen they'd fall foul of EFL financial restrictions fairly quickly
    Exactly
  • City away ole ole...
  • At the very least, younger fans will start to realise that City are nowhere near as big a club as Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs etc. Not even close.

I liken them to a Leeds or Sheff Weds.

Now they are about to be shoved back into their box very forcefully.

The funniest one to overturn is the one where they beat Watford about 25-0

Was listening to 5live on the way back from the vets. The number of tossers pitying City fans was ridiculous and bizarre, though a fair proportion were City fans, so only to be expected. Gist was "It's tainted our experience of winning, wahh wahh wahh".
Fuck the fuck off, your club's cheating deprived a number of other clubs' fans of even having that experience, so don't bleat about it now. I worked with a city fan during their winning period and he was full of it. Aside from that he was ok, but didn't give a stuff about their wrongdoing as long as they won something.
The Premier League can't right the wrongs of the past but they can set a bloody good example to deter other ruinous owners from adopting the same approach. A huge fine, to be shared across all the divisions, and demotion to the bottom step of the league, and work your way back from there. Tossers.

Again, it makes Liverpool’s and, yes, Arsenal’s achievements even more significant. They managed to overcome a club that, at various points, breached financial rules on a scale that is obscene and unprecedented.

The benefit of that advantage arguably hasn’t disappeared either. City were able to establish an enormous financial and sporting foundation, which they continue to benefit from today: attracting and developing young talent, expanding their commercial revenues, and building a squad and infrastructure that would have been far harder to establish without the advantages they accumulated during that period.
