Geddes edges the ball into slips hands for Middx - no ball called. He then is dropped two balls later off a regimental catch at midwicket and then edges it to slips but it drops short. He's had his three lives in the space of half a dozen balls!

60-2 and Middx require another 74

You could say that. I've posted this photo before but I hope it serves to explain why sometimes my comments make no sense!!!

Middx 84-2 and just the small matter of another 50 runs required

  • Alright, I think it’s probably safe to say I am popping the champagne.

I’ve just got my iPhone! I did put the Kent stream on our main tv earlier, but the family seem to want to watch some other stuff on it.
    Dudgeon strikes!

  • Warks champions. Pleased for Chris Woakes, but feel for Somerset, the eternal bridesmaids.

Now that Warwickshire have secured the Division 1 Championship, I can reveal that I had, prior to the season, in two win singles and an each way double, Warwickshire at 12/1 and Kent at 14/1. Shame we couldn't win Div 2 but I'll take the Warwickshire win, place double and promotion for Kent of course!

My first visit to Canterbury was back in the early eighties. Last match of the John Player league that season and Kent only had to beat. . Middlesex to be champions. Middlesex got 189 while we provided a terrible innings getting bowled out for 120. As we trudge back to the car the announcer told us Somerset had won to win the league.
    So no sympathy from me.

I posted this exactly a year ago on the 2025 thread when some were questioning the selection and Hollioake:

As for "weak management", I think this is the complete opposite of that. We simply cannot have it both ways i.e. why are we continuing to play those that have consistently failed in the last few seasons but then, in the next breath question why we aren't playing the youngsters when the remaining fixtures are dead rubbers. Playing Leaning, who has done nothing this season, would have been the very easy and weak option.

I really do firmly believe that Hollioake has used these last few games with a view to making us stronger next season and to demonstrate to the promising youngsters we have that there is a pathway to the first team for them but that at the start of next season they will probably have to bide their time.
  • What a truly remarkable turn around from last season’s bottom place Finish to this season getting promotion. Outstanding work from everyone at the club!

And from all those streamers on here whose encouragement from afar ( and often from behind the furniture ...) has inevitably played their part in this triumph.

Thank you all for your great company this season & look forward to joining you again next Spring.

    Onwards & Upwards !  <3

Congratulations chaps. Well deserved promotion. 👏
  • After the game in April, when Northampton batted on to become the only team in history of the C/C for the first four batsmen to get centuries, I wonder if they would have rather figured in the record books as promoted to the top division.
